i made the mistake when i was short on money and bought a few bags of the potting mix. please fellow growers dont waste a singe seed in that shit. first it burns the hell out of the plants and continues to give em toxic doses causing leaves to claw, then when it comes time to flush forget it all water does is releases more N, not to mention all the bugs that been crawling out of the soil. dont be cheap when it comes to soil.

The idea that Miracle-Gro is no good for growing weed is a common misconception. More than likely, it was your practices that killed your plants. First of all, it not a good idea to start seeds or young sprouts in soil with time release fertilizer. Also, with MG, you don't need to feed your plants anything for at least the first 4-5 weeks. Doing so is gonna give you excess salt in the soil. Then, when you try and flush it out with a huge volume of water, you inadvertently make the problems worse by cutting the roots off from oxygen. Lastly, tap water is not good with Miracle Gro.
Miracle-Gro is ok soil to grow weed in, if you know how to use it.

I have a mother and a Trainwreck in Veg on Miracle Gro Potting soil.

They are healthy and green. I removed most of the time release capsules when I sifted it for potting.

I will change soil when I flower, but for Veg this soil works well!

Ditto,im having good luck with mg soil but im not growing dope in it,for that i do hydroponics but in my back yard garden, mixed 50/50 with native soil it kicks ass .

Before i switched from soil to hydro i used mg products every so often and never had a problem.

If your going to use any off the shelf soil mix or economy fertilizer you must have atleast the basic tools of the trade,a soil test kit along with basic ph & ppm tools if you want full control of your grow.

Didn't you just say that you started with MG...kid?
You the smart -guy who doesn't know how to grow a REALLY EASY plant to grow in soil that old housewives use. I bet my 65 year old mom who's never smoked in her life could grow a healthy plant in MG.
You have a lot to learn buddy.

Anyone who uses MG is kid.........except for you.

I know right?
A lot of people who are just starting to learn to grow usually start with MG or something similar like Scott's or Supersoil, but you have to have some experience with time-release ferts and maybe gardening in general. If not that then at least sense enough to know that you don't add fertilizer to it for a few weeks.
I;m not say MG is the best, far from it. But if you have no choice, growing in MG is effective, simple and easy.

How i feel on the MG thing...

It's just another brand, like anything else we use.I agree.......it's not the best product. But it is no different than any other product we use.....you have to learn to use IT.

Taste......i have smoked MG grown bud that was superb.I don't use it but i have seen with my own eyes and smoked enough bud to know....for a fact.....great smoke can be done in MG.

And if you HAVE to flush....you're not doing some thing right.

Beans right. Granny can grow weed with MG. By harvest time there will be very few if any time released nutes left in the soil. Stop feeding your plant for the last two weeks, do a nice dry/cure and you wont have nute taste.

Let me be clear.
MG is not my first choice, but you can grow weed in it. As far as how it tastes; it doesn't taste any worse than the shit you buy on the street from your dealer.
It's not the best soil, but it has it's advantages.

For my personal headstash, I would only use sunshine mix #3, Pro-Mix HP, Roots Organic, Fox Farm Happy Frog - Light Warrior - and Ocean Forest or Royal Gold Basement Mix.

and u can flush mg by the way.. and un flushed weed is just as good as non-flushed. i dont flush but i cure my weed n its still good. flushing is a decision some of the best growers dont flush.

MG soil's time release ferts are only said to last around 3 months so if you are growing a decent sized plant, you would have no problem flushing at the end. I used mg my first time and i failed miserably because i was dumb enough to add more nutes to what was already in the soil and i burned them. this doesn't mean the soil is bad, it means i was dumb. truly "pro gardeners" should be able to grow in mostly anything...i've seen plant growing in sand before ha. your opinion is your opinion and every one should respect that, but bashing a well trusted product used by people all over the place isn't going to help your credibility my man. so instead of bashing someone's product, why not tell every one about your trusted set up so you could help others get a good start? just trying to keep things positive around here ha. peace.

I Think its funny that the majority of people start to grow their own simply because they are sick of paying someone else for it. So to me the cheapest cost of my grow is the best. I laugh at the people on here that micro manage their grows with $$$$ on seeds, ferts, soils... its rather comical...

We will all be high as kite come november, some of us just won't spend that much.....to get there
