I'm not even upset at the so called hacker.. Its fucked up what they did but you would think that a big company like Sony would have better security or atleast a backup server. I'm pretty sure they could easily turn the network back on right now if they wanted to but they want to upgrade the security so it doesn't ever happen again. I can't lie i miss playing black ops and madden. But while its down i went to my parents house and found my old sega genesis and been playing sonic and earthworm jim and its amazing how much fun these games are now that im older.. My mother told me a couple of weeks ago my brother came over and took the old skool nintendo I hope that he damn near blow a lung out trying to blow them games out so they will work lol

I'm not really that upset either, its just a little disappointing... But im about to hook up the N64. I almost find old games more fun than games from new systems. Got some of the classic ps1 games too. When they finally get it back up i'd like to play some cod though ha ha.

Normally I would not even care about it...
But believe me, after a long day of work, smoking one at night, sitting down in front of the TV, turning the PS3 on, excited to play Super Street Fighter 4 online (FPS are just way better to play on PC to me) and the network is messed up.... It fu**s your evening up !

Fortunately Counter Strike Source was there to hold me.

lol cant complain. we dont pay shit for this network. and it gives me an excuse to pick up a book & setup my gamecube/segagenisis hah. playstation said it was an "illegal intrusion" but usually hacking groups admit to doing it. Which no one has... so idk. All for the hackers though! lol I mean the group they thought it was 'anonymous' hacked a bunch of credit card website's before. thats awesome. fight club style hahha....... but i digress

ill just hafta solo zombie it the shit upppppppppp

buy a nice v8 auto....drive off the lot and the manufacturer disables 4 of the cylinders....refuses to turn them back on....you find someone that can restore the cylinders
manufacturer finds out and then bans you from using the interstate and highways

To hell with sony....they got what they deserved

maybe next time they will go ahead and do some simple input verification.....bah
just sickening.....

I just want to point out that it the IT security business, NO network is impenetrable. Unfortunately, in the IT field, the bad guys are always one step ahead. Sony probably had industry leading safeguards in place to mitigate risks and vulnerabilities, but like I said, any network can be hacked and sony did the right thing by pulling the servers offline as soon as they were aware of the intrusion. Hopefully their upgrades and improvements ensure this wont happen again anytime soon.

yes, i agree.

waiting a solid week before saying anything doesn't really count as a timely response for me though....maybe it does for you...but not me.
they pretty much blew it a long time ago for me by adding rootkit based copy protection into their CDs..huge red flag there....
In order to hide from the system a rootkit must interface with the OS on very low level and in those particular areas, there's no room for error.
It is hard enough to program something on that level, without having to worry about any other programs trying to do something with same parts of the OS.
Thus if there would be two DRM rootkits on the same system trying to hook same APIs, the results would be highly unpredictable.
Or more to the point, a system crash is quite predictable result in such situation....and enjoyed by many to boot.
Especially when they went the extra mile to release a service pack after the fact to remove it, when all it actually did was simply remove the $sys$ cloaking.
3.5 megabytes of pure bullshit that was....never again.
Not to bad though, if it's coded properly...
with this in mind, the inabilities of the development team to fend off a series of simple SQL injections by simply doing proper code checking and input verification to prevent the theft of 77 million accounts/data, fails to foster any confidence for me.
It also keeps my dwindling funds firmly in my pocket.

Sony adds insult to injury by reminding users located in the US that they’re entitled to receive one free credit report per year from each of the three major credit bureaus.
The company didn’t offer to pay for any sort of credit monitoring service to help ensure the information THEY lost isn’t used in identity-theft ruses against its own paying users.

"This happens a lot, and there's nothing you can do about it. You might be screwed, but you'll basically be OK"

Thanks Sony.

Same here As a matter of fact I just bought an X-Box today!

Hash Baggs- Add me
that's what i was waiting for. it was probably bill gates who hacked sony haha. when this started i hypothisized that people would just switch to xbox if it went on long enough, and now i see a lot of comments like yours in various places. microsoft stands to gain a lot from this mess. i don't do online gaming, just chucking in my .02.
