I don't know why, but it just seems easier.

Business is limited to the state that you are in, at the moment. So a whole lot of logistics won't be necessary.

The lower the # of people in the process from seed to joint, the cheaper cost of the dope. The cheaper the dope with the higher quality, more consumers.

Like I said, until it's cleared up at the federal level, no company that has an existing legal business is going to go into cannabis -- they risk getting their "legitimate" business shut down and seized by the feds. The only companies that are going to do cannabis until that time are companies based only in legal states that are either formed specifically for that purpose or in an existing related business.

From what I've read it sounds like the prices are basically going to be set by the state, so there's no way a big business can come in and undercut the small guys out of the market. They can use economy of scale to be more profitable, but they can't run the little guys out of business, especially if the little guys make sure they offer a superior product than the big guys.

Of course the big companies will try to use their influence once they come into the game to get the state to squeeze the little guys out (just up the regulations on how you can run a cannabis business til you price the small guys out of the market). Hopefully people will keep that from happening we'll see.

I think if we took a look back at history and how it went with tobacco, or alcohol and prohibition...those would be good places to start taking notes :D

Those industries show that there will be no monopoly and that farmers (tobacco) and processors (microbreweries) will still survive.

The only thing any of us can do is wait and see! There is money to be made legaly, but it will be big buisness. Growers that are growing now will go from selling oz's for 220-280 a zip to sell to the state for 97? Even though you can grow more and make more the simple fact is there will be WAY more plants and WAY more costs! I know it can be done I just don't see home growers, switching to a big grow nor having the money to do it! Except for that one pig farmer!

No worries like Toke said there will always be a black market, and when the state is selling oz's for $340 there will be a HUGE market for street oz's at $280! And that's a pay raise! ;) 502 is a pay raise for drug dealers! LOL everyone that voted yes on 502 just voted to pay more for weed. At least it will be legal though!
AMEN! (need 10 characters)

He wasn't right though.... as the grower/processor if you also trim the cannabis you'd be getting $194/o -- after the state tax was taken out. You only get $97/o if you don't process (trim) it. A lot of people in CA would be happy to get almost $200/o these days! Yeah, you can make $280/o in that situation on the black market... and risk arrest, jail and a record that'll follow you the rest of your life. I'd take losing $85/o of profit to lose the risk of legal consequences. I can grow extra to make up for that loss. It'll mean working a bit harder or upping game on yields, but i'd rather do that than being in a state or federal pound me in the ass prison. So you guys stick to the black market all you want, because that will mean less competition for those of us trying to make legalization work, even if you gotta work around the impediments the state sets up. Keep in mind while no one should go to jail for this plant ever in my opinion, you're not going to have a lot of sympathy from people when there's a legal framework to work under that everyone has been working for YEARS to get and you said 'fuck it. I wanna make $85/o extra.' That's called greed.
