So in my opinion first decide if you really want to grow weed. If the answer is yes. Then dont go low budget it's a waste of money. You end up in a year or so after you have learned what you doing with 1000s worth of lights and stuff you dont need anymore because you wished up and bought better equipment. Check out blackdog led light and grow tent setup it cost more but is hands down the best light on the market. And will produce more high quality weed then any budget grow setup. The system will pay for it self In One grow. I'm running for of the big boys in a small commercial setup and they are rocking but they have smaller ones for tent growing purpose as well.
You 6inch exhaust fan should be good for the tent. If you have a good filter to go with it smell wont be a problem. For at least 6 months to a year. Depending on how skunky the strains you grow are
Do you have any photos of your black dog for example?

Cheers

The Mars Hydro TSW2000 kit is cheap and looks good, but The FC4800 is a light better suited for a 4x4, as for Spider Farmer a good light for a 4x4 is the SE5000 both lights are in the $550 range and boast top of the line spec's. The lights that you mentioned from mars and spider are their low end lights and while they are ok, the lights are a primary investment for any grow and should last for years so don't be afraid of cost, you'll get what you pay for. You can't fix a bogus light, but you can screw up a tent! install the light, turn it on, close the tent and darken the room. Any light leak can be solved with duct tape. You can screw up a lot of things but a light shouldn't be one of them. If you do three grows a year how many times will a good light pay for itself?

If you insist on buying a Chinese light, I'd check out Meijui. I don't recommend them, but lots of people seem to have good luck with them. I wouldn't expect the best customer service though vs an American or local company.

I'm not a @bk78 fan, but he's got some experience with Meijui.

Or do more research on here. You will gets lots of lighting advice, lol.

I agree about getting what you pay for. The primary reason for the tent kit to start was simply so I reduced the likely hood of screwing up what I need. I was thinking about buying a smaller tent 2x3 or so to do a grow or two and visually see what is and is not needed. Then order a bigger tent for a 4x4 with higher end componets. I was thinking use the small one during veg and the better quality one during flower so I could have two going?
Thats what I had envisioned in a perfect world. Im checking out the lights above. I suppose If I just call spider they could tell me what I need to buy if I dont want one of the kits but do want a majority of there stuff to tie it together?
Im concerned I will buy something that is either not compatible with another component I have or I could have just done it X way to start. Thats what got me thinknig to just buy a smaller tent and then spend sometime researching what I want for the long term. The best way for me to learn besides researching is by being hands on. As I research I can kill a few batches of seeds unitl I get a feel for the dif. between indoor/outdoor grows. Thanks again

Thanks again. Im on there looking now. These look like really nice quality options for what I want to do. Are you familiar with this light or have you used it? Just wondering if its as easy to use as some of the ones I had mentioned like Spider or Mars? ( I realize those are not the top of the line. I had simply been researching them because they seemed like a user friendly beginner place to start)

Also....Temp and humidity control can be critical. Local climate matters.

I'm forced to run sealed with AC and Co2. (In attached garage)

You dont have to answer this but it looks like you live near phonenix with those numbers lol. My sister does as well hence why I say it. I understand the importance of temp/humidity control. I will be using it inside which is luckily a huge helper for me and I think I have plenty of dehumidifieers (living in the South East humidity trap). Man those numbers youve got though are crazy. If its 104 indoor is that affecting your grow? I ask because I did an outdoor last summer that went to hell by the end. It was so hot out my plants were hating it even when moved to shadier areas with fans and all. My outdoor temps were only in the low to mid 90s and I was having trouble so im curious if the heat causes you issues even being indoors?

I dont insist on buying Chinese. I am more concerned with quality and ease of use versus who makes it. Im really open to any brand that suits my needs and can take a bit of the idiott out of idiott proofing a small personal size grow lol.
I will check out the brand above and any other that is worthy of investing in for a novice.

I looked. I dont want to order from China. Id rather pay a bit more to buy from someone in the USA even if they have it made in China as long as they stand behind there products. Im not trying to cut costs so badly that I end up with a POS I cant get help for or that I cant figure out. Electrical things are not in my comfort zone so if I have to spend a bit more to have that peace of mind then so be it. Thank you though for the info.

Yes. The hotter it is, the harder my AC and dehumidifier have to work. Higher electrical costs. More difficult to maintain res water temps. I'm in northern Cali.

It's a rigid foam room vs a tent.

I really should shutdown my grow during these hot azz summer months.

Own 2 of their lights. Can't go wrong with them. Plenty of people here use them that are willing to help a person if you have questions. Also HLGs customer service is excellent. You get what you pay for. Good luck.

I went with HLG for my boards. I wouldn't order from China either. They're a tiny bit more than Spider Farmer or Mars, but they're built here. Those guys actually started this whole QB thing. They own the name quantum board, so technically no other company is supposed to call theirs quantum boards.

And anytime I can buy local I do. There's a code for 10% extra off too. RIU10.

There are other top quality US companies too, like ChilLed and Timber to name a couple. I have a link for 5% off at ChilLed if you decide to go that route, but they're spendy. They're beautiful though.

If you go from looking at so called cheap Chinese lights to a HLG at twice the cost, then you are not challenged budget wise. You just need to look up local light suppliers and buy the one that fits what you want to spend. Yes do the compare warranty and features thing, but then buy what makes you feel comfortable. Everybody has an opinion on what light is best, but you have to sleep at night with the purchase. I went down the same road as you earlier this year. I ended up with a 40"x40" along with a Nextlight Core $380 for the light and $170 for the tent. Since the tent only had holes for ducting I had to spend extra for 6" flanges and take offs then reducers cause my fan was a 4" inline. Then when I looked for a 2x2 everyone had to order it and even then it cost $140! I eventually went to Amazon on prime day and bought a 2x2 for $50 and Sunraise QB2000 for $98. Luckily I had a gift card for $115 so I basically paid forty something bucks with tax. Both lights can support the tent size they are in with no problems and I'm happy. My cheap $50 tent is built practically the same as my $200+ when finished tent except it had better zippers that don't feel like they will break. The Chinese cheapy also has double pull string sleeves that accept any size ducting without having to buy extra flanges, and the poles are the same thickness. Lights are ever changing and the HLG650R is good light, but its about to start showing its age. Don't get me wrong, but I sense a change in the force! Lol. To me it appears that longer wider lights with bars are the next wave. They give a more even coverage than a smaller light focuses in the center of the tent. So with that said, compare lights by coverage and not price. Now your comparing a HLG 650R to a Spiderfarmer SE7000 and a Mars Hydro FC6500. The Spiderfarmer is at the back of the pack, and Mars Hydro is the the leader spec wise. Mars Hydro is also $300 cheaper, 5 year warranty. I mean no disrespect to people who like HLG, but compare the two, then if you still want HLG cause its American local, consider the Scorpion Rspec at $900. You can't go wrong with any of these lights in a 4x4 and all can be switched to a larger tent in the future.

Good thing this is a weed forum, cause this guy's comment screams he's high as fuck! So many lights out there that are better and more reliable than the overpriced purples old dog sells!
Have you used one. No. They are only over priced when you can't afford them. Name a light that produces more per square ft.??? Oh and provide some proof if you do come up with a name

So thought they would be in order but they aren't. This is a current grow, in a new grow space I'm dailng in. They are currently 42 days into flower with about a month to go. They are hard as rocks already. I own four Mars hydro ts 3000 series that I was growing with. They don't even compare. Imma grow micro greens with them
