Piecing together my first indoor grow tent and I dont know my ass from a hole in the ground- Any help appreciated!

I'm putting together my first indoor grow. I had made a post back about whether to buy an all in one kit or buy pieces and put it together myself. I was advised the kits come with alot of crap you dont need. I would have to agree after looking since I have a dehumidifier, fans, pots, etc.

Im looking at buying either a 4x4 aprox and starting with maybe two plants since this will be a major learning curve vs outdoors.

My questions are If i buy the spider farm SF-4000 light is that a decent light I can learn on and increase my skill with practice? I dont want to buy a light to pitch it next month.
Or should I buy a lower end light then upgrade it like a 1000/2000 and eventually use that for a clone/ veg tent?
Also, how do I know what size carbon fan I need? I live alone so smell is not a huge issue however Id prefer it to not be a dead give away either when people walk in.
I found a spider farm 6in cfm inline duct carbon fan. Is that overkill or a good fan for my needs? I cant find much on how to choose what parts?
I found a 4xx grow tent with that same light above (4000) + 6in carbon fan for $855 so I was not sure if that was overkill for me needs?

I read a bunch of reviews when that spider farmer 6in inline fan came out and the majority said it was garbage and that it was loud. I would stick with AC infinity t6 cloudline and only doing two plants is a good idea as a beginner. It is a lot easier to keep an eye on two in a big tent. That sf4000 is a decent choice for a 4x4. Smell is subjective, but it is not uncommon for strains to not really smell. I have two tents in an upstairs room in my house and neither has a carbon filter. Nobody can smell anything. I have them, but never installed.

So in my opinion first decide if you really want to grow weed. If the answer is yes. Then dont go low budget it's a waste of money. You end up in a year or so after you have learned what you doing with 1000s worth of lights and stuff you dont need anymore because you wished up and bought better equipment. Check out blackdog led light and grow tent setup it cost more but is hands down the best light on the market. And will produce more high quality weed then any budget grow setup. The system will pay for it self In One grow. I'm running for of the big boys in a small commercial setup and they are rocking but they have smaller ones for tent growing purpose as well.
You 6inch exhaust fan should be good for the tent. If you have a good filter to go with it smell wont be a problem. For at least 6 months to a year. Depending on how skunky the strains you grow are

Your lights are your most important choice. I'd buy the best I could afford. So do a lot of research online about what users think of the lights you're interested in.

Maybe 6 years ago black dog was top notch, definitely not anywhere close to good these days compared to what’s out there. Even mars hydro is shitting on black dog now. Black dog is overpriced old tech‼

In for a penny, in for a pound! Invest in a good light and you wont be disappointed. If you aren't going to do it right, don't bother at all. If your going with a 4x4 use the space. As a new grower myself I'm glad I started with four plants. The mistakes I made growing four different strains that are at four different stages of flower is priceless. So is using two different types of soil that gave different results! Priceless. It's going to cost the same in electricity anyway...

By the way pay attention to the tent you buy. I bought an Agromax 3x3 tent $169 that sounded good because it had hole for 8", 6" and 4" ducting. I bought it along with a 4" fan and ducting only to find it only had one 4" hole at the bottom. To use the vent holes at the top I had to hunt through Home Depot and Lowes to find a 6" take off and a 4" reducer. Then I had to drill holes in the take off in order to screw/bolt it to the tent. The worst part was that the people in the stores didn't know what I was talking bout when I tried to explain what I was trying to do, so I wandered the isle self help style. Last week I bought a Maxisun 2x2 $50 on Amazon and it had sleeves with draw strings to connect the ducting, "Brilliant"! I don't need to spend an extra $30 dollars for extra parts or wander the isles of the local Home Depot. The tents look almost identical in build quality.

Check the deals thread, you might find a decent light at lower price, there's a Spiderfarmer thread to look at too for deals and discounts.

Thanks alot man! Your help and insight is very much apprecaited. I do fully agree with you. If your gonna do it, do it right. I just was not sure where a good starting point would be without blowing the bank. Im starting to understand more and more. Im looking at the Mars and spider lights now. Tents seem relatively straight forward. I have the dehumidifiers etc already. The last part Im trying to figure out is do I need a carbon filter fan (I think thats what its called for duct work?) as some have said its not a huge deal if the plant does not smell and your temps are well regulated. I will probably just buy one to be safe if it can only help. Im not the handiest person when it comes to stuff above like you listed but it will give me a project work on with the GF so thats ok. Ill update as this comes together. Thanks for all the recommendations.

Im on the Mars site and they dont list a 4000? do you know if the difference between the TSL and TSW is just the shape of the grow area? I can see one is more rectangular (the 2000's Im referring to) but I cant find much else different about them.

Good thing this is a weed forum, cause this guy's comment screams he's high as fuck! So many lights out there that are better and more reliable than the overpriced purples old dog sells!

I think I can answer my own question I just realized. The reason I can not find the 4k's on Mars site is because they are not Mars. They are Spider Farmer it looks like? Those are the two brands I keep flipping back and forth between due to overall versatility and userfriendlyness from what I read. Im sure there is better out there but both these brands seems to be middle of the road for the small scale do it yourself-er home grow. Now I just need to makeup my mind between brands.

Thank you! You literally just read my mind. I have been flipping back and forth between both sites for the last hr (along with this site) trying to figure out which have better components in an effort not to post a question that has probably already been asked 15x. I was leaning towards the SF after my research today. Thanks alot
