Ph Run off

pH runoff is useful for soil when u have a deficiency but only then.

Don’t measure unless you have issues as it will normal cause issues monitoring it for no reason.

I saved a plant this summer by testing run off pH and took 3waterings for the ph to stabilise.
One of the reasons i say its not useful is because you can get a better reading from the soil itself. (slurry method if you must)
There are several other reasons to not mess with runoff. Another reason is that nutes/salts/other junk alters your reading. (if you have a buildup)

Another thing is that the way ph meters get their readings....... that needs gone over on this website. Same with tds meters. Organic guys cannot get real readings with just these meters and that info needs put out more often. Chemicals are the only true way to get a reading in organic soil aka the lab.

Second the Black Gold. Their products are everywhere including grocery stores and priced accordingly.
I've seen some fire come out of a 20 gallon pot of Black Gold and "don't laugh", the cheap Miracle Grow soluble fertilizer. I was skeptical at first but the end result was beautiful and delicious. Better than much of the crispy fried stuff you see that was fed nothing but a regimen of cannabis specific nutrients.

I have images of a new grower with their nutrient "Line" in a back room with their eye dropper mixing up their magical elixir that's going to give them the biggest buds ever. I just laugh thinking about anyone following some ridiculous feed chart mixing this and that 2 ml of this 3 ml of that for week 1 and for week 2 the formula changes. But then at week 3 they're instructed to flush everything out with a bottled product of sugar water and then start all over again.
LOL, I have to admit I am one of those suckers. My first grow I purchased the entire GH advanced line, it was ridiculous. I didn't buy the mixing station though, lol. I still have the full bottle of Floraclean and almost all bottles collect dust. From those 13 bottles I now use 5, the 3 base plus calmag and ArmorSi. I found it works much better and while it is hard to admit to being suckered like that, I was. Thankfully I smartened up quick and now try to steer folks away from the moronic practice.

A proper gentlemen. With the balls to admit it. At least you didn't say you took a 20 year break and came back with a friends plant. I see that a lot. I started saying it for fun.. "not my first grow just took a century off so I'm a bit rusty" could be shortened to " first grow help me "

I too used to mix nutrients in the garage with a magnetic plate stirr and 7 bottles. To be honest, it's the passion that counts just as so we didn't continue mis-guided ; that was the importnt part.. Honeslty the plants were hella happy from all the attention too. Nothing else mattered but them

It's nothing to be ashamed of. They make it too alluring. Shiny labels, cool names, a chart to follow that will bring success. The marketing is very good. Some of the best I've seen in my life. If I didn't have decades of growing plants I might very well be another customer. But having a basic understanding of plant physiology and the requirements plants need to grow I never fell for all the nonsense. Correction, I did use a couple cannabis focused nutrients for a couple grows. I used Botanicare but quickly realized it was just too expensive and it gunked up my hydro setup. Same with GH. Their damn macro is a cruddy dirty mess.

Now I just run what I call clean water soluble salts. Not cannabis specific but a combination of everything the plant needs. No residue, all the elements, and healthy plants from seed to harvest.

Put the bottle down and walk away.

My lineup is simple.

Micronutrient blend
Calcium nitrate
MKP in flower

Occasionally some magnesium sulfate and/or potassium sulfate mid flower.

Done.

Or do some research and get some quality that works - Earth Juice is a great brand!
And they were born the same year as me. Which makes them extra dope.

They just gave me $5 to post this comment

The last part was a joke. My favorite quote is "it's not rocket science"

Takes much more time (also need the right equipment, probe etc) and you can get a rough idea with run off. But you’re right in saying an actual soil
Reading is more accurate.

It’s just not a go to to answer most questions, checking the run off but it can be useful if you know what you’re doing.

Most deficiencies occur when there is too much of one element messing with another rather than pH - especially in bloom stage.

I've used Earth Juice. It's not a bad fertilizer. I didn't use it for cannabis but everything that it was used on was green and lush. I'd use that before I'd waste money on AN or any cannabis specific nutrient. And it would yield as good or likely better results.

It takes some diggin to sift through the snake oil.. I myself am trying to do my part to bring up genuine brands. Canna specific brands are ver in-genuine. For anyone curious as to how to gauge a brands level of community, all it takes is one call to the office ; ask a few general growing questions and you will have your answer. Teleprompter answers are in fashion right now.

Humboldt's finest is a great one too. They know I have a cat and joke about feeding it their compost teas turning it into a lion

My test is if they list the ingredients on their website / post the label.

Those that don't provide that information have nothing to hide other than the fact that they use the same stuff as everyone else. Some companies go to great lengths to create some impression that they have some special formula when in fact they buy the same MKP amd ammonium nitrate as all the other guys. Smoke and mirrors.

As that comes off as common sense to me - many people do not take this into consideration so this is a golden piece of info my friend.

ALWAYS read the ingredients.
