Lol what happened when you used cal mag? Do you grow autoflowers?I use one bottle of ferts and a bag of potting soil, all else is irrelevant for the yeilds i need.
Yloll never get better with calmag and shite, just find a fert that works and work on getting that perfect, simples. Ive been to some dark places with calmag, never again

So my ppm meter just came in. $18 on Amazon. I measured my tap water and it says 418ppm. Is that high? And what should I do?

418 is high. sure you can use it. under 500 ppm is considered safe for you, so its safe for your plants. if you use it i wouldn't add cal-mag. use light nutrient solution.
Could the high ppm of the tap water cause a burn or a lockout? All my leaves are yellowing now heading into week 8 that’s why I thought I needed cal mag. Can I buy a regular water filter?
yeah if its a lot of calcium in the tap water, its possible it can lock out other minerals. a regular water filter will remove some, but not all. you have a tds pen now to test that. but a high quality RO water filter will work a lot better. distilled water is usually less than 50 cents per gallon tho if you dont want to get a fancy filter.
I will try distilled then because that seems pretty high. How would a mix look like with distilled water?
most nutrient manufacturers are assuming you are using distilled/RO water so just follow their recommendations on the bottle or feed chart you are using. but go 1/4 strength to begin with to see how your plants respond.

i wouldn't. if high ppm tap water was your problem, then it was probably excess calcium. your regular nutes might even have calcium in them too you can check. i would just give distilled water and base nutes 1/4 strength.

yeah you can pH to 6-6.5. i usually do nutes with 20% runoff, then plain water with no runoff, then repeat.
This is what they look like. You can see the yellowing. I also noticed a little phosphorus defincency on one of the plants. A little purple on leaves. Might up nutes a little. But yea this what they’re currently at Day 55...
Lesson learned right? i wouldn't add cal-mag. you could add some of your tap water to the next feeding if you're worried about a calcium deficiency. there are plenty of nutes in your soil though they might have just been locked out by the excess calcium. some yellowing of the leaves is normal for this time if your plants are finishing up. i would just water them with distilled water with a light nutrient solution and see how the plants react and add all of this into a plan for your next grow.
