PH must stand for PULL HAIR.

Ok, went to walmart and worried about the quality of my water checked out Mr. Culligans machines that fill up the jugs for like 30 cents. Decided to get one of these filled with quality RO water and next watering use this nector of the water gods. Today is the day after and just now I check on them and some brown spots forming in the middle of the leaves. Sunuvabitch MG def >_< :cuss:

So heres the funny part, I PH the water and the PH is WAY under 6.0, my test kit isnt even reading the level anymore its so down there.

So I then test some of my tap water and the PH is so high I almost mistake it for Robert Downy Jr. :-P

I proceed to play mad scientist with cups of water from my tap and cups of the culligan water I paid some damn cents for and so help me god I will use. After some mixing and matching I get the beautiful 6.0 ph color match and give it to her immediately.

I hope to see improvement, my real question aside from the rant, she has like 3 weeks left. As long as I keep PH perfect (JUST spotted some tiny brown spots and already fixed ph) will she make it? :leaf:

she will make it . Just make sure your ph is good, if it's soil 6.2 -6.6 is optimum. You can also adjust ph with pool or hot tub ph + or down. I've been using it for a year now with success. and you can buy it at wall mart

Ok, so there was actually more damage it seems this morning. I figure the PH must have locked out the magnesium so instead of waiting for the MG to unlock I went with the FAQ here and picked up some epsom salt from walmart for less than 3 bucks and foliar fed her epsom salt dissolved in warm water (right amounts) and sprayed her down a bit. Literally 5 hours later all the leaves not having issues seem MUCH greener and healthier and the limpy leaves seem better as well. Question is, are the ones that are yellow and limpy (the hardest hit ones) going to recover or just always look kinda sickly. I want to know what parts of my plant to guage for improvement so I dont think shes not recovering.

Cheers!

The solution to any plant problem is always in the new growth; damaged leaves never recover. If you truly have 3 weeks left, you have very little to worry about, BTW. They'll make it.

It's a good lesson, though, about water and pH --- you can never assume the pH of anything, and water sold as pure, filtered etc etc isn't necessarily a pH 7.0 Water purification processes are directed at water safety and drinkability, which are only very loosely related to pH.

Too true Kriegs, I bought that stuff figuring it was golden only to find out it had the PH of car battery fluid.
