Perfectph recharge solution

Just picked up a torus inline as a timesaver and so I can have someone take care of the res while I’m away with minimal pain. The recharge solution seems insanely expensive, and I’m guessing its cheap chemicals at 10,000% markup. Any idea what the recharge solution is and what it would cost to DIY the same solution?

Mycorrizae(sp?), tricoderma, bacillus therengensus(sp?), kelp, molasses, and some amino acids I think. I don't have a pack in front of me, may find more info at realgrowers.com.

sounds like we are talking about different things. This is the torus perfectph system.

Thought you were talking about "recharge" the soil enhancer, sorry. The"recharge solution" threw me off. Please disregard my previous post.

I have been using the Torus since they came out, and like you I thought I would source the recharge solution myself. I was able to find the proper chemical (I will dig up the name later) -- however just like the resin inside the unit itself I could only find it in industrial quantities. So yes you can buy it way cheaper, if you're willing to buy 300 gallons at a time.

The problem is the ion exchange resins and recharge solution are used by water treatment facilities in just about every city, so they are sold in massive quantities. Torus bought the big quantity and is breaking it up into smaller units for consumers.

Thanks! I’d be grateful if you could dig that up. I‘ll look around in case that quantity issue has changed. Are you happy with the torus in general? These things are expensive, but it seems like a no brainer to me. I’ll avoid the daily Ph checks, get some savings back in ph down and calibration solution, and I won’t be chained to the reservoir 24/7 meaning I can actually leave town with things on autopilot for a few days without worrying about the grow going to hell.

I've been very happy with mine. In a recirculating system they make a ton of sense, root interaction increases hydrogen ions and the Torus removes them -- rebalancing the pH.

I ran a test last year where I went an entire flower run w/o changing my reservoir. I simply topped off with RO via a float and added nutrients as needed to keep the EC in check. I didn't have a single issue with pH going outside of range that entire run, I was floored. Obviously the nutrients were not balanced by the end of the run and I wouldn't recommend doing this, but it did showcase how long the Torus can keep a reservoir stable.

So far I've been away for up to 2 weeks at a time w/ the only issue being the reservoir running low. (I now have a smart plug I can remotely operate that will open a solenoid and allow the reservoir to refill via a float valve, I'd rather feed them straight water instead of having the reservoir run dry.)

I've also been logging my reservoir data every 5 minutes for the past 3 years via the Bluelab Guardian Connect, it's amazing how stable the graph looks. You can see the increase when a feeding cycle would run and then you'd see it creep back down until the next one. It made "riding the wave" almost brainless, my feedings through the day start at 5.8 and end at 6.2, then overnight it will drift back down to 5.8.
