I got my 150 watt HPS in today. It will be a while before I put it to use, as I'll probably wait till my grow bags get here so I can repot my plants and be able to fit both of the bags in my vegging chamber whilst I install the HPS in my main chamber.

Let me say i think I'm a pretty handy guy. And these instructions from HTG are some of the most confusing I've ever used in my life!!!

Looking Damn good man. You will really enjoy the LST. Just remember not to use any nutes the first month or so with that MG soil. I use MG bloombuster along with foxfarm products, Epson salt and molasses. FFOF soil. . Holla at me if you had anymore tie down questions..... sub'd

Will do and thanks! I might look more into some topping too as well. Been looking at various youtube vids trying to get more visuals on how it's done. It seemed like it might be a good idea to let the growth get large enough to take clones from the topping done.

Finally the plant seems to be up taking some more water as I've had to water twice in the last 3 days or so and has developed some really nice growth lately.

I'll prob definitely be doing some LST, but haven't decided on topping yet for sure. I do want to grab a few clones as well when she gets bigger so that I can get a perpetual grow of sorts started.

Looks like everything is going great. My seedling is just a few days behind yours. I'm glad my box could help you out. What strain are you growing? I have ak48 so I had to put carbon filters on mine for when I flower. I like the boxes you've got going though. Right now I move mine around with the sun (south facing windows + graveyard shift = perfect situation) which is why the cardboard is practicle but I'm drawing up some plans for a stealth cab grow

I'm growing some Northern Lights from Nirvana. When I was choosing a strain, it was the Northern Lights, White Widow, some type of kush and AK-48. I heard the AK-48 is very resiliant and thought it might be good for a grow.

The plant is seems to grow more vigorously every day.

Although today, there is a strange growth on the stem of one of the plants. It's like a normal set of nodes, only they are fused to the mains stem. WTF??? I don't know if this is normal or not but I'll give it another 24 hours to grow out and see if that changes. This could be normal and the only reason I've noticed is b/c I'm checking on them everyday, were usually with an outside grow I'd check less often.

It's like what will be a bud site, but it's folding from the main stem.

Things are going ok. My mutant plant, which I wrote about HERE, is doing ok as well. I wasn't worried, I've been doing some slight training and spreading the foilage out as it grows.

You can see in the pictures a few potatoes, this is due to a small gnat infestation. When I open my box i only see about 5 or so of them at once, so it's not a big problem yet and I'd like to keep it that way. This is only my second round of potatoes so I don't know if its working or not. If the potatoes alone don't work, I'll try some sand on the top of my soil.

Its been a while since I last watered and the soil is quite dry, so this will be good for the gnats and the transplant later. I dont know if you can tell from the pics, but my leaves are curled right at all the edges, I think they're trying to retain moisture, so they'll have to hold on for another 24 hours or so.

So this weekend I have some things planned.

  • I'm gonna go ahead and finish light proofing my vegging chamber.
  • Transplant my plants into 2 gallon grow bags and put these in my vegging chamber temporarily. I'm switching to grow bags so I can fit more plants into my main grow box.
  • Install 150 watt HPS into main chamber
  • May even start one more seed so I'll have a total of 3 plants going until I can get some clones from the two I have going now?

So, I got my HPS installed in my main box, light proofed my vegging chamber and transplanted my plants to the grow bags.

The HPS takes up more space than I wanted, so I will definitely probably have shorter grows. I also need a way to mount the lights, as suspending them from the top won't work so well anymore. So maybe one of those clamp deals of some sort?

Well let me say that this morning my plants are stressed to hell!! Some of the bottom leaves are pretty hard, one of them even cracked. There is a bit of discoloration in the leaves too. Gave them an ok watering too.

Hopefully within a day or two they get healthy again? Attached are some pics of the grow box and the transplant. I haven't taken any pics of the new stress this morning.

Things are progressing ok. The girls are doing their best to recover from the stress of the transplant which I didn't do the best job of. I think that was necessary though as now I know I won't be using such wide pots. Any transplanting in the future for these cabs I have now will be going from the 1/2 gallon bags to the 2 gallon bags, which should be no stress at all as I'll just have to cut the 1/2 gal bag off and drop it into a larger bag.

You can see some of the pruning I did to cut off the really stressed portions of the plant, most of which was contained to the bottom part of it. I had intended to start the 12/12 at around day 19-20, but we'll see how my plants continue to recover. I also wanted to get a few sessions of LST in while they were vegging. As soon as these go in the flowering chamber, I'll be starting another 2 seedlings, and shortly after that I should have some clones from the first two plants going.

So we will jsut have to see. Still need to come up with a way to mount my CFLs in my flowering chamber as the HPS prohibits hanging them from the top.

Day 19 since Sprout

It could be a bit of wishful thinking, but my girls are looking like they are feeling better. They aren't as big as I would like for this amount of time, but we'll just have to wait and see.

There is still just a bit of that rust color on a few pieces of the leaves, you can see this in one of the pictures on one of the leaves.

I ordered a pH meter for my soil though, as I feel I need to check the soil so I can eliminate that as a potential problem. Its been a few days since watering.

I'm trying to wait a few more days before I start tipping them over for training.

Day 22 since Sprout

With those spots on my leaves, I ordered a soil pH meter. I figure I should have one since this will be something I'll be doing for a while. I've also decided to use an entire closet eventually for my flowering room. I haven't got that ready yet so more info on that later.

But with some recent watering, the girls really perked up and started some nice growth again. So this morning I started the LST, by tipping over the main stalk. I'll go at it again later as they start to grow again. I'm hoping with this first round of training that the growth starts to flatten out. I'm hoping to have only this week more max of vegging before I put the girls in their flowering home.

Day 23 since Sprout

I'm embarrased, but you can see the several spots where I burned my fan leaves:wall: This was due to starting LST, and not staking the stem down properly, and it popped back into the light which I lowered and burned them. She will survive, but nonetheless its still a sad state of affairs.

So after tying down the main stem, the main colas have already started turning back up towards the light. Also all of the minor colas have also started growing in that direction. I'm trying to get the majority of light on the minor colas at the moment, but its a bit tough.

I was a bit worried about LST'ng these babies cause they were so bushy from the start. But the next two seeds I start, I will start a bit sooner, which will allow me to get a better shape I'm sure.

looking good man... only thing I can say is be prepared for them to go crazy when they hit 12/12 if you LST them a ton. I've got myself a cramped situation lol

Day 26 since Sprout

Today the girls looked really good. Gave them some water last night, and although I probably worry about over watering, it seems like whenever they get water they perk right up the next day. I think they have plenty of size from vegging. I'm ready to put them in the flowering cab. I am probably going to do it tomorrow night and start them in darkness. I just have this one node that is a bit stressed from training, so i'm giving that another 24 hours.

But flowering is always the most exciting part. These girls are gonna be packed with bud, they're already starting to show hairs with 24 hours/day of 6500K CFLs. I can't imagine what they'll do with the new HPS, CFLs and 12 hours of dark!

26 Days Vegging, 1 Day of Flower, 1st Day Seedlings

So I've got a lot going on with the grow. First let me say these things smell awesome so far. Just so sweet and full of aroma.

So I've moved my girls from the vegging chamber to flowering. They spent a full 12 hours in dark, before they got hit with the HPS this morning. Nothing really to report yet. I did bend the main colas down a tad on each plant in hopes to get some light to the others that are trying to come up..... Gonna have to keep this grow as short as possible as there isn't much room to go to the top before they start hitting the light.

I also started TWO NEW SEEDLINGS today and they are currently sitting in darkness. For this grow I decided to plant the seeds directly into the soil and am going to see how that works out. So no pre-germination this time for me.

Hmmmm... with all that height my plants have, I'm seriously thinking about topping the main colas on both plants, which would give me a VERY nice even canopy on both plants.

tsk tsk now that would be a waste!! cant you just drag them down and tie them up so at least there still there and you have them at the end to smoke. ha ha im not going to get into the never ending dont top convo but to lose the biggest bud just to keep an even canopy mmmmm i think what you have done thus far looks great pelt1

Thanks for stopping by. You are probably right on that. If I was going to top I probably should have done it sooner.
