@Dreminen169 Digging the cone.

Goal: Grow one plant to maturity in a 24 oz. of soil using my standard grow method.
Setup: Fabric pot and sub irrigation (wicking system). I cut the fabric from a 5 gallon pot and hand sewed it - it wouldn't fit on my machine. You're gonna have to trust me that the pot is 24 oz. I'll send you pics of the volume calculations and final measurements if you want.
Medium: Heavily preamended organic soil. I like to grow all the way to harvest by just adding water.
Lighting: Household LEDs. I know, I know... This is my yield limiting factor but I really don't care. I give away way more weed than I smoke. Still grows some bad ass weed.
Process:
  • Germinate: Germinate seeds using the paper towel method. That shit's been working for me since the 1970's. No reason to change now.
  • Sprout: Sprout in Rapid Rooter. Place germinated seed taproot down in rapid rooter. Soak Rapid Rooter once using a low EC solution of Maxi Bloom. After that, water only.
  • Grow:
    • Plant the sprout in heavily preamended soil in 24 oz. fabric pot. Plant it as deep as possible to take full advantage of the stem length.
    • One week at 18/8 then switch to 12/12.
    • Top, LST and trim for four main colas.
Expectations:
  • I don't expect I'll be able to grow to harvest in 24 oz. of soil without additional nutrients. I've been downsizing for the last couple of grows to see how much soil volume I actually need to finish. Started at 5 gallons. Been successful at 3 gallons. Already seeing some nitrogen deficiency at 1 gallon. I expect to have to fertilize. Going to use the same stuff I use to preamend. Blood meal, bone meal, high P guano, EWC, Langbeinite.
  • I also expect in that in such a small soil volume, it could get pretty toxic. I don't want to have to flush at any time during the grow but I will if necessary.

Stretch Goal: I've advocated to newbs at RIU that if they're on a restricted budget or can't get their hands on specialty nutrients for cannabis, that they should be able to grow using only tomato fetilizer. Talk is cheap so I'm going to run a second plant. If I can grow to harvest in 24 oz. of soil using only tomato fetilizer, then anyone should be able to pull it off. No magic or cartoon labels required.

"You Should" -or- "This is the way I do it": Yeah, I know someone along the way is probably going to tell me how I should be growing, what I'm doing wrong, what is the best way, blah, blah blah... All I can say is, bring it, bitches. Pop some seeds and show us what you got. Just remember that your goals may be different than mine. I'm pretty confident I can meet my stated goals but I'll learn just as much if I fail.

And now for some pics. Cause that's what we all want to see.

official party challenge with anything under 24oz. Categories include largest yield, most artistic LST, tallest, shortest, etc.
I’m going to be running an auto in a Ball Jar, but it doesn’t have to be an auto or in a ball jar just as long as your container is under 24oz:leaf:
@Growbag22 @Hollatchaboy let’s officially start this thread & get it going‼Any suggestions for rules while we wait & see who else is interested in starting off with us❓

If @JonathanT is serious about entering his tomato we can find out. I suppose it depends on wether it's a determinate or indeterminate variety. If indeterminate, can we reveg?

Please join me in welcoming to the world, twin sisters, Doris and Dolores. Doris is the kind of girl who likes the best of everything. Dolores is more a Walmart kinda girl.
  • Doris is going into the fabric cup, get's my usual soil mix and will be fertilized with a variety of dry amendments.
  • Dolores goes into an empty Folger's coffee container cut down to 24 oz, and gets Promix and Espoma Tomato Tone straight from the bag (and purchased at the W). If she survives, it proves anyone can grow using stuff from the big box store. F*ck the bottles.
I'm throwing in a couple of pics of their older sisters
  • So everyone can see the simple wicking system they'll share
  • 'Cause who would've guessed we'd get a late frost this year and
  • 'Cause we're really all just here for the CannaPorn
