so today one of my seeds showed as being a dud, pulled her out of the room but got 2 pretty healthy seedlings still going...i had a bad feeling about this seed anyway so its nothing shocking, i started germinated my other 2 papaya seeds just about an hour ago so hopefully those go well...

this will be my first time using both cfl and hps together. I am really curious to see how this all comes out.

I think its going to work out great given the right amount light from the cfl, I have 12,800 lumens for a 2 square foot area which will give more then enough light to any plant i put in there...How many lumens total are your CFLs putting out?

Not sure of total lumens I am in the middle of making a new flower room as we speak right now. I will have a wide array of different cfl's in there along with 150 watts hps. Once I get it all built Ill post what my total lumen and watts are.

hey john how long did your germed seeds take to sprout?

Forever man. They all opened their hull super quick and then did nothing for days and days and days.

I started germing mine on 8-18 and I didnt get one sprout till 8-31

out of five only one made it out of the ground!

Just keep on keeping on. Keep it nice and moist and warm. i think keeping it warm is the best thing to do.

I was starting to get really frustrated with mine. Then I just said fuck it and let nature take its time. Seems like everyone on here has had a really long germ process with papaya/mango

ive heard a lot of bad stuff about fem seeds from nirvana, not germing right and the ones that did turned hermy.. but that was just a couple of grows i read starting with fem seeds from nirvana, im not 100% sure. but the seeds i germd and sprouted only took like 1-3 days to germ inside of a wet paper towel in a metal container inside a warm area. then another 1-2 days to sprout, all the plants ive germd for me and my friend ended up like that so idk whats up with urs

I believe that Papaya's genetics come from a tropical strain and because of this it makes it very hard to germinate it. It likes to be hot but not to hot. just the right temp.

hrmm idk, anyways subscribed. ive got my grow kinda similar to this, no hps tho im just using 6 cfls in a 19'(debth)x26'(width)x36'(height) container

try germinating in a propagator with rapid root plugs, i had 100 percent germ rate, plus my partners n i have been grown papaya from nirvana for 3 or 4 yrs now...never had a problem n its def. serious smoke...u wont b disappointed, plus its like to stay farley short n bushy
