To those who think all is lost, have heart. Looking for land races is difficult, no doubt. But it can be done.
As an example I bought Malawi gold from RSC. Grew it out twice and collected seeds. One grow was 22 weeks the other 16. The THC count on the 22 weeks was a bit much for me. The 16 wk was much nicer. With this you don't need to turn on the tv to watch cartoons.
In my hunts I have scored REAL Durban Poison from a local grower who even supplied pictures. 14 to 16 wk flower time. In another adventure I traded for some Santa Marta Gold, again I think 16-18 weeks. I live in So Cal for those who will ask.
My most difficult search has been from the late 60's. As you all know King Richard sent paraquat to Mexico and most of the great stuff like Michoacan was destroyed. But a few kept seeds. I have found someone who found some and has grown it out several times. He presently is hybridizing it with something else. BUT he promised after this season he would grow out pure Michoacan for me. I am elated.
Keep looking, it isn't impossible just pretty challenging. As a side note I met the infamous Mr. Greengenes. He gave me a cut of his Oreo a clone only strain. Amazing stuff which I accidently crossed with an Afghan #1 male that was flowering at the time. We also discussed Cherry Bomb of which I have '78 pre-Swami strain. Wonderful stuff that I also found a very rewarding pheno that I have now grown out twice.
