Overwatering? A frequent problem I think I’m having

Damn Dog you gotta a set up! I thought you said you were a noob?!?!? I’m kidding sub’d brother.

Id let them dry out, and repot and top dress with used coffee grounds (cheap/free source of low ph n boost)
Hey top few inches are dry, it’s been almost a week since I last watered it. How much soil should I take out of the root ball? Is the soil in the rootball going to throw off the pH? I’m thinking about doing the soil recipe that @GuerillaGOAT posted up

Try to shake off what you can without damaging it, and the ph will be thrown off a bit but itll be better than what you got anyway.

Should the remaining soil be an amended on or can I use Black Gold potting soil, it’s an amended soil but no NPK, maybe .5-0-0? I have Fish Hydrolysate to feed it as well as Kelp meal, crab meal, bat guano, etc to top dress

Man I’ve just been reading taking notes and accepting what the OG’s have been telling me! Still a noob for sure. As far as the you amendments go I’m with the organic school of thought and that chemicals don’t allow microbes function how they should. So outside of prepping your soil I’m no help with additional nutes.

So I have a bit of a plot twist. When I was transplanting, it looked root bound. So I didn’t knock any loose dirt as there was none it was completely enveloped in roots. The root system was spread throughout the soil so shaking or tearing roots off would have done more harm than good. I transplanted the 2-3 gallon in a 5gal smart pot with 90%FFOF and 10% Vermiculite. After 30 mins of watering the leaves did perk up. Honestly I don’t know what to expect from here.

On a side note the FFOF is super fluffy seems like it drains really well, better than Vermisoil/fire. I believe in past grows the drainage wasn’t all that great using Vermi but I got a good feeling about this FFOF. Anyways here are the pictures

Hey folks,

I bought a ph/NPK soil test kit and tested the spoil’s ph. It was as others suspected:Alkaline. This is an amateur test kit from Lowe’s which also identifies levels of NPK. As per @grilledcheese101advice, im going to put top dress two cups of used medium roast coffee either today or tomorrow depending on how much it drank today. It is raining outside so I might put outside to get that ph balanced water with natural minerals and good bacteria. I’m leaving for vacation soon, so I hope this does the trick. My last ditch effort is to top dress with Worm Castings in week or two. Worms actually balance pH... or they die. If they die, that’s also how you know the pH is off. If I can’t revive her I’m just going to pop one off my Nirvana Fem Blue Mystics.

I really hope this pulls through or at least I can get a clone off of her. She has desirable traits that she’s already showing, and I don’t really want to grow that Blue Mystic, I’ve grown it so manytimes, I’m ready for somethingwaaaaaaay better

If you have any advice please post

Stick with FFOF from now on brother. Has more than enough nutes to last you a month or so. Just ph’d Water and that’s it. Making things easier is better, like others have said all around this board, use the KISS method. Keep It Simple Stupid. I always had this issue, I totally suck at guessing when to water. I always ph’d my water but always seemed to over water. This grow I only added a little water at a time as they needed it. It has been 4 weeks and never once have I drenched the pot until a lot of run off. Every time I did that I always had over watering problems. I also use FFOF, so no nutes for me until they are a week into flowering, and even than it’s just pk. very little N is needed with FFOF (for me). I grow autos so my FFOF take me into flowering. If your running photos than it should last you a month before you need to start adding N. Hope they turn around man.

Thank you, yeah dude gotta keep it simple. I get way to excited, which isn’t a bad thing, just gotta make decisions from a balanced p.o.v. I think I’m going to try and clone it. I’m about to go on vacation for a week, so when I get back I’ll make a decision. Ya know it wants to thrive, just gotta get that pH down. The meter I used said 7.5 if that’s true I’m not too far off then.

I use the drops and the battery one to double check my battery one. It’s pretty close to the same. The drops give you a range that’s what I don’t like. I keep the ph at 6.2 ish and I have never had ph problems. Over watering, yes I have my fair share.

I love FFOF. I use a no nute soil for the early stages with light vegg organic nutes. Then pot them in Fox Farm Ocean Forest 5-7 gal smart pots. Then just water with light Cal Mag and maybe some Boosters. Like Bio bud and Bio marine at 1/8 to 1/4 strength. But those aren't necessarily needed. Been having great results though.

I had same problems too, then I bought air pots, it helped me a lot..You just need to water them super slow.. Or you will have flood all over..
Agreed lol, i use a mini rake to rake up the first 1 inch of soil or so and ammend whatever dry stuff i need and then water in a 1/4 gal, let it sit for about 15 mins. And then dump another 3/4 - 1 3/4 gal slowly afterwards. Usually lasts about 2-3 days depending on in or outdoor. I find with those to get the most out of em put them on a bbq grill or something that will raise it a tiny bit and let it drain, this alows water to run mor equally thru, doesnt let any water sit on the floor.

Fuck man after this grow id be throwing out all my soil, washing down pots, tents , scizzors containers fans etc. And id imagine you arent running a dehumidifier? Prob invest in on if not, biggest thing is low humidity and good airflow. Bumping up airflow in the middle pf outbreaks will just spread disease further., chop the rot and spray the plant with diluted peroxide, or lemon.
