Outdoors In The Northeast

thank guys for all the likes.... an yeah the stems are kinda fat i jus hope they can stand up to the rest of the season.... quick question whats good line of nutes thats not to bad on the pocket .... one of my two auto's has started budding an i fear i want get much from it cause its on about 12 inches or so high
I used Miracle Grow my first couple of years - got a bucket on sale at the end of the season for less than $10 and that's all I used. Gave them a drink once a week and watered with a molasses mixture in between. Folks on here cringe when you say Miracle Grow but I had 1.5 lbs from 2 Sativa clones the first year and about a pound from 3 Indicate clones last year. I broke down and bought a GH performance pack for about $60 and am using that this year in my grow. I have a Think Different about 2 weeks from finish and a White Domina 2 weeks into flower that I started early to try a combo CFL grow and sunlight grow and they have really seemed to respond to the GH notes. MJ is a tough plant that will grow with no nutes. My WD fell about 3 feet and bent the main stem in two places and busted 4 branches. I stuffed it back in the 5 gal pail and used candles and garbage bag ties to save 3 of the branches. The fourth I have stuck in a solo cup and it appears to be rooting - point being theses things are called weeds for a reason! Lol The Gh stuff is for hydro but I thought what the hell and so far so good - they seem to be doing better than they did in other years on Miracle Grow. I also germinated directly in soil with with only 1 bag seed not germinating. There are folks with way more experience here who can get you in the right direction but I think it all helps just some more than others. Good luck!

is the just the top part of the stem or every branch
Atleast 1 at the top node as long as you can see 2 little branches forming real small. These two branches with be come 2 seperate main branches to create 2 colas. I Top mine as the nodes appears. this slows the growth down for the fisrt month or so because everytime it starts to grow I top it, but this helps with then end results in my opinion. I also run plants with out topping and do other trainng tricks. Super cropping works Here's a picture form yesterday of a skunk auto.007.JPG
See how it looks normal with 1 top. This is the same plant 1 day after I supper cropped it. You see several heads001.JPG

Just wanted to show you what simpling tying down can do to. Have fun and play with your hoppy.

I hear good things about Maxsea. It's like 16 bucks for a 1.5 pound jar. I just ordered some too.

I took my 6 seedlings out of their mini-greenhouse, and put in the veg chamber in my grow cab....I guess they weren't ready as they all fell over on their sides, and almost died in a matter of about 5 hours........I got them back in the greenhouse, and it appears they have rebounded...They all have their cotyledons, or just about have them....One seed I must have planted upside down as the taproot was shooting up about an inch out of the soil, lol....I turned it around, and it appears to be growing right now, lol......I have to say I am not so sure about Jiffy Peat Pellets for starting pot seeds....I don't have much experience but seems like they grow slow in them.....

Well I might be screwed...I had my 6 seedlings in a mini-greenhouse doing fine when all of a sudden I thought I had an unexpected visitor coming over...The greenhouse was under a cardboard box to keep the heat up but you could see light coming through, and it would have surely raised suspicion....

So I kind of panicked, and threw them into my vegging chamber thinking that they would be ok...Well I was sorely mistaken....In a matter of 5 hours they all were laying on their side on the soil....I can't believe how fast they reacted to the condition changes.....Temps went from about 90 to 70s...But I also did take the dome off....that may have been my big mistake...

I have since put them back in the greenhouse but it looks like MAYBE 1 will survive if I am lucky....

Question: At this point being in the North East US 43 N. Lat, is it too late to start over by germinating some new seeds ? Is it even worth trying at this point ? I was thinking of planting outdoors the 2nd to 3rd week of June...But if I start some seeds now, how big will they be by then ? That's why I am asking if it's even worth it....

This sucks..They were all feminised seeds...They ain't cheap.

Next year I am starting wayyyyy earlier, and will grow some monsters.

If you start now you still would have almost 2 months of veg and You can grow some pretty big plants in 2 months veg, just don't top, it will slow it down. Just keep tying it down to 1 side as it grows, this will give you almost the same effect as topping with out slowing down the growth. They wont get tall but bushy. Hopefully your seedlings make it. By the way I'm at 43.1

A lot of the NE has outstanding soil. Unless it has been worked for a while you should do fine by mixing native soil with coco or something for aeration. The coco will leech nutrients from the natural soil and minerals and some roots will even make their way into the dense natural soil! The NE is FILLLED with good mineral composition. Some areas in the NE could nail it with green houses and little more. Albeit the sun exposure isn't always great.

Make sure the coco filled area (maybe 2ftx2ft) has enough nutrient value to get the small plants to grow the root zone and expand into the natural soil but once it does that the coco leeches nutrients into itself while the roots expand and gran nutrients and water from outside the coco mixture as well, but the mass of the root ball will be where the coco is. That's ok. Fill in coco for however big you think the root ball and plant should be, or how big you'd like it to ideally be.

You don't have to buy anything other than coco. You don't have to put plastic containers out, simply mix soil with coco in the rough size you would like the root ball and plant to be, done. May not even have to water it. Maybe a little organic neem oil or something to keep bugs away during veg.

I might add, this is when your (theoretical) year long compost bin comes in handy...Mix some of the coco with the compost to get it started, but again, once it gets going the native soil should do well. Maybe some basic sugars during flower to help resin production but keep it bottle less, and don't use bagged soil outside. It's a huge waste. In general I think bagged soil is a scam but that's another discussion.

So you're saying I could still vegg indoors for as long as 2 more months before putting them outside ?

Ya I hope they make it but they weren't looking good...I decided it couldn't hurt at this point and fed the 5 bad ones Rapid Start root enhancer...We'll see what happens.

Hope it works out for you - MJ is pretty tough, those plants will surprise you with how the come back. Finally put mine out yesterday and it went down pretty low last night but hopefully it won't stunt them to long. If you are going to start again I would put direct in soil to reduce any shock to the plant in a shortened season. Sucks when you have a set back at the start of a long season of watching for insects, deer, and anything else that may chow down on the girls. Hope they come around for you.

I got a little set back. I found another plot near one of my water sources. lol His spot is about 200 yards from me, but I'm in thick woods, and he's 10 feet of the path.
There is no plants there yet, but it looks like he is waiting to bring his plants in.
I decided Im going to go back tomorrow and find new spots in a different area.

Did you have any luck finding new spots. The weather has been great around here, plants are getting settled in. Still have all my fems in pots, some are going in the ground and some in 10 and 15 gallon fabric pots.
I will get some new pics up later.

Anyone still following this thread????

hey guys I'm still not on the ball...I never got my next set of seeds going....So I have nothing at this point....

Should I even bother ? I have to start from seed.....

Although I do have a c99 about 24 days into veg....I have never cloned before....What are the chances I get some cuttings off that , clone them, and actual be successful at it ?

Suggestions ? Should I :

Forget the clones, and start some seeds.

Forget the seeds, and do the clones.

Forget both. Concentrate on my indoor grow, and do outdoors next year.

How about both. I think you still have time but it is getting late. People are still planting there regular gardens in my neck of the woods. Last year I found a broken lower branch the end of June and cloned it. That was my first attempt and ended up with zip off it. Prolly coulda had more but I experimented with it and kept it in 2.5g pot.
