Outdoor security.

I don't know about you guys, but I will not be staring at the cameras all day. For months. I will probably end up losing my mind by the end of it. Or I will just snooze or miss something at some point and the whole thing will be a waste of money. Also, that sounds very time consuming and ineffective, especially when compared to high-quality motion detectors. I can be doing some work around the house, watching TV or surfing online, or sleeping, and detector will notify me of trespassers. I don't have a wife, and I sure as hell wouldn't trust a non-family member. However, if you have a small yard then yes you have no choice but to stare at cameras in shifts 24/7. But then if someone notices your crops, no matter what kind of surveillance you have the crops will require even more protection. If you have a big piece of (outdoor) property to manage, then with motion detectors (different beeps will tell you which ones was tripped) you can get plenty of warning to intercept trespassers and deer BEFORE they notice your crop.

Cameras are more expensive than motion detectors, as well.

Theoretically the cameras sound fantastic and all, but once you think it through - how many people will be willing to watch cameras for months non-stop just for the sake of a few illegal plants?

buy a few geese (or dogs...) and put up a fenced in pen so they can't fly out, making them squeal to high heaven if someone steps on ur property.. this method was actually used by a couple that was busted with a large-scale grow operation underground and they had geese outside to alert them if anyone approached the property

Don't forget, I am in Canada. Gun violence is rare here, especially in the countryside. If anything you can get into more legal trouble here with an illegal weapon than with an assault. I am not interested in applying for a gun!
I just came from Ontario bro... gun violence is on the rise up north.. Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary(AB) especially are getting worse and worse. They constrict the gun laws more, and the supply of illegal weapons is going from mostly brand new pistols and assualt rifles to stolen and previously used in a crime pos weapons... still costing like a grand for some rusty old 22 that jams on u.. and like markexpress said, the prison term is hefty - not to mention there are practically 0 unsolved murders/shootings in Canada lol.. just to say even if u had the right to defend urself and a registered weapon doesnt mean the Canadian gov gives a crap-they just do whatever they please on parliament hill its sad... all that to say the average joe cant just go to the store like the US & certainly cant find an unregistered weapon very easily.
Bear spray & tasers are used by most growers (and frankly a lot of dealers) in Canada, Australia, places where most growers aren't linked to crime organizations and violent practices.
However, the vietnamese, afghani, somalian gangs up north all have weapons and know theres a lot of nice guys growing dank so they exploit their kindness or generosity and run in their house with assault rifles. They all rat on each other though, but it just sucks knowing nice guys up there that have to put up with it... plus now u can do time in Canada for growing 1 plant, it used to be no more than 4 or u get a 250$ fine..
All that to say growing in Canada is not much fun unless ur way out in country... like out in quebec in the mountains, even then the rcmp flies over all of quebec/bc every summer just hunting down spots. Theres a few blocks in mont tremblant that were all grow houses at one point. Now its like they are just shooting fish in a barrel man, if the little rippers dont get you the somalian gangs will, if not the choppers or a nosey neighbor... and the whole time u got no way to a medi card, no way to have a gun, no way to even get prescribed some xanax bars to stop those panic attacks when u hear choppers.. my heart goes out to you brave men and women growing up there!!!! Much respect!

Let me just point out, with cameras you do not need to watch them 24/7. There is an option, very cheap
for the technology of it also, you can wire your cameras into a box that when something is spotted or motion
is detected on the camera it automatically takes pictures and/or video and sends them directly to your email,
phone 'via text' or just whatever. So that way, not only is it recorded and you catch the bastards on camera to begin
your manhunt, but it instantly sends you the information as in motion. Reasearch it a bit... Peace.

Any force used to defend your crops / land is a huge legal no no. You can not cause harm over crops / land. Only inside your house. And if you grow, the police and justice system is going to come down on you like a ton of bricks. Saying the own reason you killed / hurt some one is because you are growing illegal / selling on the market. The only thing you should do is use camera as a deterrent and play dead. This is not some thing to be ignored at all. You will go to prison over causing harm.

While this is good advice...I still recommend an array of firearms, motion sensored lights, a few dogs, a fence, camping out in the yard, and having the balls to scare someone away with force. If you're growing illegally, you should do everything you can to just avoid people knowing/seeing your crop. Once someone knows you have crops, they will watch you and wait. If you are going to grow in the same place this year, after being ripped last year, I recommend a 9mm, an ar-15, and a tactical shotgun. Shoot an ar-15 in the air a few times when you think someone is on your property...if they "aint" about shit, they'll be gone. But if they are...well, you should know what you have to do next. Do you want your crop, or do you want to give it to someone else?

dogs dont cost 25k.. you can get a trained dog for under $1000. or an untrained for around $200 and train it yourself...

1 year I put out 10# fishing line and small treble hooks with several aluminum cans attached.
The hooks are more to attach to the ripoff so he has the cans making all kinds of racket while they either
go for the weed or run like a coward. The latter is the best, either way I gotcha!!
This year I'm putting a camera up so if I do catch 1 I can send it off to Americas funniest videos so every one
can laugh at and know what he looks like. I'll post a sign facing the fence stating that by jumping the fence
you give up all rights to your privacy and the public at large...:):):)

My bad about going way off topic, ha, just seriously if ur in canada DONT buy a gun...It may seem like a good idea, its really the worst..thats what I shoulda said.
Anyways if you are really paranoid about outdoor security, get the motion senors around the area of the property or far enough from the plots, then go all out and get a thermal camera pointing at the entrance/exit and one covering the plot.. I know the cost a lot, but otherwise since its Outdoor security, why have a camera they're always gonna come at night..Peace.

If you pick the best possible location, you don't have to sweat it at all. Firearms are a terrible idea, you get caught and the FEDS will tack on 10 more years for firearm possession along with growing illegal drugs

I realy want to do another OD but I got ripped last year bad. I cant move, so I was wondering what are some of your security devices you guys have in place around your house to keep sticky fingers outta your sticky stuff?
Don talk about it don't show anyone don't socialize with anyone don't have a girlfriend and you should be ok, nobody will know its there but you. If thieves(pros) want it they will get it, I knew someone that lost 2 chained up Harleys in a shed with 2 dogs guarding , not a sound was heard.

Solar outdoor security lighting comes in many forms. You can use as elaborate a display as you wish or have a purely functional, inexpensive system protecting your home and family.
