Organic vs. Synthetic Nutrients

This is how i see Organic vs Chemical nutes:


Soil = Organic

Hydroponic = Chemical


If you try to use Chemicals with Soil you will find yourself watering alot more then necessary to feed your plants. It makes it easy to burn them.

And if you try Organic in Hydroponic you have to keep a close eye on your water rez because it could be a home for all kinds of funky microbiology that will rise and lower your PH. That makes your plants have Nute lockout.

i flushed for 4 days or 2 waterings w pur r/o water
The pure vida organic bloom has very little salt so she should taste great! Cant wait

I've always grown organically because it worked great for me the first time I ever attempted to grow cannabis. I always get compliments from grower friends on how all of my stuff has a different "tang" and I love not having to ppm or ph ANYTHING.

But I will say that genetics, a great double flush and proper cut/dry/cure can make for some of the best product when grown with salts. I have a friend that uses only canna a & b, cal mag and rapid start and he grows some of the best dope I ever smoked. I got a couple cuts from him that are finished and coming down tomorrow. So we are going to do a "scientific" test come November and I'll update.

i have a friend who is starting to do a self watering coco grow with the canna a and b and not much else. i'm kinda interested to see how it turns out compared to the vegamatrix he's been using. he always has tasty, potent nugs. I finally got my grow dialed in with the age old nutrients bottles and a couple other things and was loving my results, but now i'm making the full switch to organics. so much less work. water and go, anything else is purely optional.

I add some stuff like kelp and microbes to my mix. But I rely heavily on the original 5 bottle earth juice line. I have always wanted to do my own raw mix.. but the bottles are cheap as heck for what you get already. Guess I'm too lazy and American to do organics and put all the info I have read to use :(

I will say, growing organically and using some type of neem oil or extract, the only type of pest that I have had to deal with are fungus gnats. And they are just annoying. A lot of my friends that grow with chemicals seem to get bugs

I've had great success using organic supplements with my synthetic base nutes. I also like giving my organic plants a few feedings of a synthetic nute during bloom (CNS-17). Aurora's Soul Synthetics, Botanicare and Canna are good examples of lines that use a mix of naturally and synthetically derived inputs... Many lines (AN) are just too secretive/proprietary to even bother mixing and matching, so I do think it's good for beginners especially to pick one brand and follow their chart as a baseline.

nothing beats mixing your own soil and/or brewing your own nutes and teas, but Earth Juice comes pretty close lol.. Really, I love that nute line. Cheap, easy to use, makes great tasting herb.

Wont harm the environment? Indoors? Under lights and air conditioning, fans, carbon dioxide, dehumidifiers??????? Wow. You people are amazing. The carbon footprint of indoor is unreal. Indoor growing the way we do it hurts the environment 1000000 times more than the whole synthetic and organic nutrient argument. And you talk about organic nutes and the environment???? WTF??? Like using organics indoors saves the planet. Hahahhaha. Dont get me started on "taste" and "cleaner" smoke. Lol. Nutrients and where and how plants get them is a very very small factor. The organic nute folks simply amaze me. Unless your completely artificial indoor growing environment is powered by solar panels using organic fertilizers and organic soils is like a horse pulling a sports car down the road.

I look at a natural soil. "Organic" has become commercialized.

A natural soil fully embraces the microbes. That simply means providing the raw materials in their natural form and letting the plant and microbes dance.

I don't look at commercial products if I can help it. Hard to get around using peat unless you have piles of leaf mold instead.

Organic nutrients and soils belong in an organic environment.....OUTDOORS!!!! Period....end of story. And yes ive tried every way you can imagine in an attempt to cultivate quality cannabis.

seems a lil closed minded to me.
I've been growing indoors under lights, with some bigass solar panels that make the electricity bill almost nothing, in fact when i'm not running them, we have a credit.
And I doubt seriously you have grown everyway imaginable, that's a bold ass statement.
You ever grown in a leaf mold based compost mix?
Didn't think so, or you still would be.

this is a VERY valid point and argument.
but I stand by my earlier post.
A carbon footprint is something many people can't totally understand.
I mean, c'mon... driving a SUV with a single driver, and commuting in it...
And I will absolutely do the pepsi challenge with any chemically grown weed.
If you are near central CA coast, and want to, I'd be down (and eager) to growing the same exact strain, and then doing a blind taste-test.
One thing is for certain, and maybe it's because around here the chem-growers are greedy, but my "versions" of clone only strains around here?
Don't look, taste, or smoke like the hydro guys.
I had a guy accuse me of lying when he saw my SC bluedream, looked totally different than the hydro people.
That being said, I've also seen many organic grows that don't do it justice.
But I am VERY confident in my growing technique/philosophy.

Driving an suv single driver is one thing. But even small average grows in a tent with a 1000 watt or 2 uses up an extremely large carbon footprint. I wont get into it with taste and all that crap. I will save that. Its been beat to death. If it works for you....but anyways organic indoors because of the environment is absurd.
