To everyone who replied to my questions: thank you. You provided invaluable information and I can certainly take it from here. Like I mentioned, my existential irony is that it's super easy to verify my need. The drag is having the need.

Are there any support group forums for people who have pain-management issues and would like to talk to people with similar issues? I think I might benefit from that.

mcpurple, I misspoke. That wasn't my meaning at all. The "drag" part was crashing an airplane requiring three surgeries that were far from successful and losing my career. Searching for real pain management for years and having an enormous four-volume medical record is the only "drag". And I don't feel bad for myself, I'm just stating the obvious. I apologize if I offended you. I read every word you wrote in response and appreciated your answers and kindness. I'm a bit naive and a bit out of practice. I haven't smoked in a long while. Truth is I'm quite looking forward to it. It gives me hope and a smile and hope is the best elixir I've found to date.

well the only thing i would have to wear is a ankle braclet, and it is 10 dollors a day and i would be on for only 30 days, but i dont know for sure yet if i will get that, but i do know i will have work crew, i would prefer house arrest over work crew even though it cost me money, but work crew is way to hard on my back and body theri is some less laboring work progrmas though that i might consider.

I'm sure you know this but it bears repeating...

That two years of probation can be just the beginning. Do everything right and just stay at home and keep your head down as much as you can anyway, even if not on lockdown or the state could own your ass for years to come.

I know several people who fucked off and screwed up just one night here or there from random life happening and got into trouble worse and worse. Stupid things like a positive test for weed or dui or even trying to just stop a fight or missing checking in etc and you'll get the blame for anything and the penalties just rack up.

Don't let them end up owning you.
