One messed up laptop....

Hey folks, my computer is fucked, first I ever heard of something like this ever happening.

Last night I was on my laptop when for for reason it shuts off....hmm maybe an error. I go to turn it back on and.....nothing happends. I look at where the power chord is cconnected to the laptop and notice the little like beside where you plug it in was flashing. Not the power light but the light that tells you your comp is plugged in.

Anyway, I take out the power chord and plug it back in. Just when I did I notice the keyboard light up like there was a big spark behind it. Or course I just finished smoking a bowl so I had to do it again to "confirm" what I saw.

This morning I come downstairs and plug my ipod into the speakers I bought for my laptop(wake and back music) and turned on some pink floyd. Just for kicks I pressed the power button and the computer starts!

Says it recovered from a serious error....no shit. So I then plug the computer back in expecting the spark but everything works fine....

Does anybody know what happened? It's very possible that there is pieces of weed in the computer, not sure how far inside. I'm thinking it's only at the keyboard and not inside where the wires are.

Your keyboard is sealed from the inside, so no dust or any other forign matter will get in but, most laptop pc has a internal reset switch in side.. could have been a small power serge. may about getting a small serge protection. I think you know computers have personalitys and also atditudes..lol. it would be wise to run system scan on your main drive. there are way of running power tests on your laptop, not sure what your system is... hope this was helpful....

I'm running a fullscan right now. I'm hoping it was just a power surge. The thing is I have my laptop connected to one of those big powerbars that are used for computers.

I sorta think it starked because I was messing around with the power chord (unplugging and plugging back in.

If it does it again I'll take it back and maKe their lives hell for a few hours.

mine shocks me sometimes.... havent seen any sparks though. what kind of laptop you rockin?? i've got this hp pavillion, and have had numerous issues with shorts in the power cord....

HP Pavillion dv5 Notebook PC. Mine has never shocked me.

the 3 round holes in the front (under touchpad) have shocked my stomach occasionally.... but my poor laptop has been though hell...

Mine is less then 10 months old. No problem with it so far today. Just touched the 3 holes....no shock yet. lol

Oh, I would rep you but it tells me I need to spread the love. haha

as its hutdownw ith no error message and wouldnt start rught back up, it probably over heated and shutdown to protect the system and was still too hot to turn back on after. where do you keep it? just on a flat wood desk or?

Flat wooded table that sits in front of my couch. lol When starting back up again it did say that windows has recovered from a serious error. I was wondering about the over heating as well but i've left my computer on for 5 or 6 days at a time before without any issues. I have started shutting it down at nights though. Just in the last 2 months though.

what could oh happened is the power supply over heated. This happens t my gaming notebook when I'm on it for hours. They power supply might have been upside down blocking the vents to help cool it.

yea flat on a wood table is a bad idea, even if its not doing any damage thats appearant, it can still be stressing hardware with abnormally high temps. id take a book or something and prop the rear up so its got a lil air flow under it.

ive seen laptops get so messed up from temps that they would only start when opened on their side.

keep your fans clean!!!

Could have been a huge variety of things from overheating, to you possibly spilling something on the device... If your device is still under warranty, have the manufacture take ownership of the issue.

Well, never done anything since then. As for overheating on a flat wooden table....my laptop has those little nubs on the bottom that keep it about a quarter inch above the table.
