How much did you drop for that volks? Check out my journal for the OG. I just had some blackberry kush about a week ago. It was basically white, so damn packed with crystals. Got it here. www.organicann.com Lookn good g

So I was brainstorming last night and continued to even when I was in and out of sleep throughout the night about how to maximize your yield in the volks so we can stomp on all the haters out there. I don't have the money for a volks right now but I wish I did to experiment along side with you.

My first idea, which you may have already implemented is... adding o2 to the reservoir that your plants are picking up the water and nutes from. Just toss and air stone underneath the water where the roots hits so they can receive more o2 to the roots.

Second idea and the last I have for now... but is there a way to bend the plants on here. I noticed a gap of plastic between each row of plants. I was thinking that you could install a few hook there and bend the plants and have the hooks hold it. Now, I'm not sure whether that will increase more top or not since the machine is already spinning the plunts upside down and sideways. IF that would work, my guess is that it would greatly increase your yeild because theres not wasted space and your increasing available bud sites.

What do you think maximus?

I can't wait to experiment with this thing on my next grow. I've got faith in these machines. IMO I don't think anyone has put a decent amount of time in these to figure them out. And those that have, IMO are keeping it a secret. I think if you can figure it out and find the right strain for it, this garden will outgrow any other garden gram per watt.

i would like to make a comment on your suggestions

1) dissolved oxygen in your reservoir is always a good thing
2) to start tying down tops in that thing is a waste of time

i think hes better off removing large fan leaves, and packing them in there tight.
i have seen a few people on here remove fan leaves with little to no effect on yeild

then ofcourse adding Co2, finding a good strain, proper nutrient ratio, environment

I can see having a trough in the bottom center of the tray where you could put the air stone and that would be the closest to the roots.
I think that the roots are getting more oxygen then norml due to the rotation and that it is like a tide with the water in the cube being drawn to the bottom from gravity and round and round it goes.
It would be easy to add hooks to the unit and that might help as well if you overgrew your plants. I think ideally if you have the right plant and you grow it to the right size then it may not be necessary to bend them, and bending if you done quite get it right would be preferable to singing them on the lamp for sure, or even growing so close that they are too crowded. I dont think crowding them so much is getting the best return.

i am growing agent orange right now and it would be great in that setup.. it gets fat large blockhead buds, and barely stretches at all in flowering..

nice setup by the way i have always been interested in rotating grows

i will make a note of that strain. like most others i have looked at it for many years and wondered. i am in an apartment but now i am starting to think much larger. you really dont need to modify the place to make use of these units, and even if you where in a place that wanted to inspect every 3 months to keep grows out you could still pull it off by just whipping them out and into a van or cube van if you happen to have several and letting the inspection go through then you are back in minutes after they are gone. you could do it without hardly breaking a sweat. it really opens up a lot of options.

lol i feel like it would be pretty painfully obvious if you were trying to roll a few of those out of an apartment.

you could keep the box it comes in and there are no markings on it - but you could drape it with something like a blanket like you didnt want to risk something getting scratched. i was thinking about a house or commercial building. mind wandering

Your thinking about growing in a commercial building?? That would be awesome, but risky. I mean you could pull it off I think but with building maintenance it would be hard to hide the system and the smell. The warehouse I used to work in had electricians, window cleaners, etc. always comin around to keep the building looking nice. Rent a house with a shed out back. I helped someone move the other day and they had a shed in their back and I was picturing 9 of those just chillin inside.

So back to the idea of bending the plants and it being a waste.. Does anyone think there would be a certain method that would be ideal for growing in this system?

Maximus - how many mothers did you have to pull the 60 clones?

The main reason i am considering the volks for my next grow is because it allows me to rent a smaller cheaper place and grow the same amount i was growing with 2k watts and a full built out 10x10 room.

you sure need the right set up in order to make the warehouse work of course. have you seen the volksgarden stacking unit on omegas site?

got all 60 from one plant

The carasel or however you spell it. Is that the one your talkin about? That would be... fuckin awesome!!! Get 4 and harvest like 25+lbs every 3 weeks. 1 week veg 8 week flower. You would actually need a staff for all that work lol. *dreaming*

How long do you veg the plant before you cut. I'm assuming its been pruned to be a big ol' bush?

Oh got any pics on whats goin on today??? If you did a day by day, it would be cool to see the progress the volks gets compared to a flat garden. I don't know if you really feel like doin that though.

i have no set time frame to cut slips. i took as many as i could for the new situation i have found myself in. at some point they get to be pretty good size bushed and over time they get too narly and i start to get diminishing returns and new ones take their place.
just going to post pics once a week this time out.

i have considered these...as with rolling them out of an apartment...that would be simple... find a unit that has an attached garage...how wide are these units and what about hight? could they pass through a door easlyer and can the wheel be picked up by 2 people without taking it apart? how many could you see one person running back to back? what about 6 of these in that new DR 400 room the 9 fooot by 9 foot hydro hut.... all with 600 watt digitals and plants at a week and a half apart from each other...
