im in northern maine usa, with a scottish irish background. when i was in school still my dad and his buddies had what smelled like absolute skunk and sometimes the afghanis. then came blueberry, purple, atf, diesel , widow, jack herrer. all of them in original form. im kinda spoiled because even though this is the boondocks, weve always had kick ass weed here.

If you really are looking for skunk then i'd talk to Duke Diamond tonight (every Friday Night) on his Discord voice chat party where his growers can directly reach him about his gear if they have problems, questions, or need help. Its in the Discord server https://discord.gg/9aSWpyh3 after 8pm Pacific time. Until then it will remain empty.
Im currently running (and toking) his “Granny Skunk” and “Skunkband”. granny skunk currently curing and hasnt had a whole lot of smell so far. It will kick you in the ass though! I havnt finished a run of skunkband yet but its pretty stinky growing already and shes only 3 weeks old.

I love that this thread and the unicorn quest of RKS , is still going.
How many decades have people been searching now ? How many people have claimed to have it over those decades ? How many dollars have been spent ? How many have found it = zero.
Did it exist ? Yes
Does it in 2023 ? NO
Whatever those genetics were , are clearly long gone. Anyone claiming to be selling it is simply cashing in on a Unicorn that no longer exists.
What it actually was and why it is no longer around are open for debate and discussion . The fact of if it still exists or not , is not IMHO

Cheers :)

FWW, I remember the guy from Phylos stating they had genetically profiled 50 different Blue Dreams. I think many strains are likely different from what they were at first.

FODDER :

When it is finally released again to the public it will change the world . I suspect it won’t be seen again until the management plan is fool proof .

Why if you were a current care taker ,the primary owner or children/grand children of would you make moves w/the plant now after all this time ?

Way way too early in the silly reindeer games .

Same Same has having/holding & managing a MEGA millions jackpot ticket winner .

Those genetics may be lost, but the terpene combinations should still theoretically exist. If more landraces could be found and lab tested to find the precursors to those combinations before they’re lost, then maybe something similar to skunk can be recreated.

Remember how good grandmas cookies used to taste? And no matter what you can't replicate the recipe, sure you make some good cookies but nothing in comparison to grandmas.. Wanna know why? It's because you changed, your memory changed. The way you remember grandmas cookies is false. Skunk simply never existed, not the way you remember at least.

That issues simple either it wasnt that in the first place or they lose the parents and try to redo it with the same genetics but with different selections ie different parents this is what happened with so many strains take ak47 thats a good example of this as well so it can never be the same selection matters thats why we have so many things that on paper are similar but in reality aint the same strain be it down to busts poor housekeeping or whatever reason you lose the parents you loose that strain most of the time and the real blue dream cut does still exist tho apparently just aint so common now also when it was big folk cashed in on the name

I bet theres some gardeners out there with RKS and many other cuts, just making clones and keeping them selves to themselves. thats where all the good cuts are
Yeah of course its often the case theres plenty of folks who too old school /to paranoid to ever touch a weed forum i know quite a few like that myself over here the legal situation breeds it im sure many places are similiar i bet someone in canada still got it for example

As far as I'm concerned RKS is Super Skunk. My Mass Super Skunk is the skunkiest strain I've grown, out of a list of recommended skunky smelling varieties. The skunk has remained as it dries. The Church had some of that odor, and it's got the original super skunk genetics in it. My Trinity, Master OG and Eurforia had skunk to them, in different ways, combined with other notes, but nothing like the MSS. I see where the Sour Diesel gets its skunky odor.

Willing to bet some other old school version os SS (like G13 Labs) have the skunyest smells out there..

Someone somewhere will have something surely. There’s so many people who will try to keep genes alive.
Some old boy who doesn’t use the internet or something who’s been blazing looooooong before all of us lol

The_Seed_Bank_-_Super_Skunk-27407.jpg

"This plant is especially developed for Skunk lovers. We have crossed our best Skunks to their Afghani ancestors. Watch out for this one, the smell is a dead give-away. Brush against this plant and the room becomes immediately filled with a powerful Skunk aroma. Despite the smell a very pleasant high with a little more body to it than the Skunk #1. "

and:

"The original Super Skunk was released in the late 80s by Neville's Seed Bank. It is an afghan 'T' female from Jim Ortega's Maple Leaf Indica x Skunk #1 from sam the skunkman."

and from 1990, Emery Catalogue:
