This may not be what you're looking for but.

I've been growing RQS's Royal Dwarf auto that has a very strong skunk smell.

I don't see what the appeal is and will be glad when it's finished.

If you want a very smelly Skunk, This is it.

This is one of my buds and it's not done yet.

The last seeds I grew that stunk up the neighborhood (with mountain air carbon filters) was the Holy grail kush from DNA …but as with the sensi star it was a reg seed pack and the female version is not the same..it was an extremely hard hitting, day wrecking weed,I only used it after 10pm as it was night night time, every time.

Depends some stuffs ok some isnt even worth running anymore its mixed results vs the old days ime anyway
Ive seen mixed results on the SS Afghani #1. More bad, than good. Way more bad.

Same for the Hashplant. That was Nevils original genetics. Its not even close to what Crickets and cicada released the Pacific Northwest hashplant x Puck/NL1 BC1 2 years ago He never did re-release it, but my buddy grew it, and its exception stuff. My buddy F2 4 packs, but died, and he had the seeds hidden, and are lost orever. I gave him the seeds, as welll as 2 packs of all the other Puck crosses, he released at that time. Nepali-Sensi Star-Puck BC1, Lebanese. All of the F2s are lost.

The PNWHP x Puck/NL1, is he closest thing there is to Nevils original Hashplant.

NWSun, made F2s of it, on Strainly. $45 a pack. I got 2 packs, and got one free. Hes also active on Overgrow. I also bought 2 packs of Karma Sour Diesel F2 from him.

Id be on the Afghani #1, if it had better reviews.

Id look elsewhere for that one but maple leaf and hindu kush are still good from them in my experience still as for hashplant again id look elsewhere there ok but lack the potency other lines still got and i wouldnt pay what they want for mr nice either nah for the most part you proly need to go to american breeders for the right hashplant lines minus maybe ace ik they keep a old hashplant cut they only released s1s of for a limited time

IMO we’re not gonna find what we’re looking for because in all likelihood it probably traces back to Mexico and even arjan ain’t sourcing shit out there lol. I mean you got people all over the country reminiscing about the skunk and logistically speaking who else would’ve had that kind of distribution network at the time?

Yup it was after ghani genes were introduced to mexi genes. Mexican growers were producing a lot of skunk phenos that would randomly pop up within different regions and genetic profiles.
Skunk wasn't intentionally bred for the trait.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned Frank at Purple Caper and his huge skunk project. Hightimes tried to hype it for him.
Frank grew out 25 different packs of "Skunk" seeds, some more than 20 years old. But they didn't find it !!!

Quote "The phenotypes Rosenthal and I are sampling have names that sound terrible: Fresh Kill, Rotten Carcass, Vomit, Burnt Rubber, Donkey Dick, and least offensively, Cheese. But they don’t have the acidic, rotten smell of a skunk’s spray or any of the other noxious odors their names suggest. They smell floral, some are decidedly cheesy, and they taste sweet. Rosenthal explains that Watson naming the strain Skunk #1 was an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of a type of cannabis."

Oh they're calling their beans by skunk names on the market tho.

I would bet that watson took those mexi/ghani commercial skunk phenos and just added some lombo.
Also consider the Mexican farmers didn't use bottled nutes . They used poop and fish muck full of sulphur.

Before we started controlling sulfur dioxide about 40 years ago, it would just fall out of the sky. One textbook states that up to 45 pounds per acre of sulfur would be deposited per year. Sulfur deficiency was very rare. Once we began controlling air pollution through cap and trade programs, we quickly started experiencing sulfur deficiencies in different soils.

I bet you right it was always said he only copied the name of the already existing cali skunk and used that to make his skunk#1 he claims the first cross was lumo x ghani x lumbo x ghani but mexi affie would make far more sense imo

Another thing to keep in mind was back then smuggling across the border was much easier so the skunk smell wasn’t as big of a factor. Fast forward over the years as enforcement efforts stepped up that trait was probably less desirable. We’re talking about strictly profit motivated groups here not aficionados concerned about the love of the plant and preserving genetics. Not only that but as we all know trends changed and bag appeal became and still reigns supreme. If over time it’s increasingly difficult to conceal and other genetics are gaining more and more market share, it’s easy to see why they would’ve ditched skunk. If any of the countless stories we’ve all heard held any truth to them, a clone or legit seed stock would’ve surfaced by now

Ever heard of Luck 13 Seed Company? In Canada?? I researched around a bit, and they seem to be pretty good company.

I never had, until 2 days ago. Im acquaintances with a guy on Instagram, and he does legal grows, and had some killer shots, and descriptions of some stuff from this seed company. I The shit was glowing like a snowball.

Turns out it was what the company calls Y2K Super Skunk. They said they did a massive open pollination, of old SS Genetics, from the 90s- 2000. Thus the name Y2K. And then selected all of the most rank specimens, and discarded all the others, despite if they were good plants, or not. If they didnt have the old Super Skunk Smell they were looking for, they were discarded.

So I went to check this site out, and the Super Skunk had been sold out for a few weeks. So, I emailed the guy, and asked when they might restock the SS Y2K , and he said it would be months. So, the next day, I get an email, of which I had signed up for notices, saying some people never paid for 7 packs, so he put them back up for sale. I hurried and went there, and bought 2 packs of them. And it wasnt minutes later, all the other 5 packs, were gone. He was also giving 20 seeds per pack. 75 Canadian Dollars. 2 packs with shipping was about $128.00usd. 40 seeds!! Plus freebies. I ordered them yesterday. Cash through the mail. There are other ways, but you get a better deal, sending, if you trust it.

He said this project, took 2 years.

Genetics: Open pollination of multiple heirloom Super Skunk lines
PHENO HUNTER PACK: 20 SEEDS
Variety: Hybrid
Avg. Flowering Time: 9-10 weeks
Yield: High
Potency: Above Average
More Information: In a two year project to bring back the classic Super Skunk that has nearly been lost to time, we embarked on a vast pheno hunt of multiple vintage Super Skunk strains from our seed vault.
It is well known that the Skunk plants of 20-30 years ago are far superior to what is making the rounds today; all of which trend towards the current market fad of super-sweet and fruity expressions. The Super Skunk that was circulating through the underground market in the 90’s and early 2000’s was a far more pungent plant with a much more distinct and euphoric high. The ultra-rare and highly sought after Giesel and Mass Super Skunk are just two of the many lines that descended from this classic Super Skunk strain.
In order to bring back these lost genetics, we had to pop a significant number of Super Skunk seeds that we held in storage dating from around the turn of the millennium.
In this open pollination our primary goal was skunky and pungent aromas. This required significant culling of any and all phenotypes that didn’t express that telltale funk that you would expect in a strain called Super Skunk. We removed all plants from the breeding pool that didn’t provide a measured dose of that classic aroma, regardless of how desirable they may have been in other categories. No attention was paid to structure, yield, coloration, or modern bag appeal. As a result of this singularly focused selection process, and the sheer number of plants combined in this massive open pollination, do not expect clone-like uniformity in Super Skunk Y2K.
However, if you’re a dedicated skunk hunter willing to put the time and effort into exploring these old school genetics, you will be rewarded with some classic cannabis gold in each and every pack. Super Skunk Y2K delivers a retrocentric experience from the days before smart phones when the weed was killer and the smell was offensive.
Due to the unique nature of this project, and our desire to get these vintage genetics back out into the world we are offering Super Skunk Y2K in a very special pheno hunters pack of 20 non-feminized seeds for the same price as our usual 13 seeds.

BUT!!!!! I saw something on the site, I wanted even more than the SS. But it wont be restocked, until next year!!!:wall::cuss::cuss:

Its a heavily worked Skunk #1 line, from 1985. 23% THC. I really want this one. Especially for breeding. Theres a reason Sk1, NL5, Haze, are in so many strains. I want to cross a Crickets and Cicada Pacific Northwest Hashplant x Puck/NL1 with this so bad, I cant stand it. Or the C&C Puck x Puck/NL1 BC2. And find a killer Male of this, and breed it to the best Relic Cough BX3 Femal I can find.

Genetics: Skunk #1 IBL
Variety: Hybrid
Avg. Flowering Time: 8 Weeks
Yield: Medium-High
Potency: High
More Information: Dipping into the seed vault, we combined two different vintage 80’s Skunk #1 lines into one. The male used in this cross comes from 80’s Super Sativa Seed Club stock that had been inbred and preserved over multiple generations by a collector friend. We obtained the seeds from him in rather rough condition, and while many did not germinate, an excellent selection of males and females did pull through and an outstanding pollen donor was selected.
The female chosen for this IBL came from a batch of, what we believe to be, extremely early Sensi Seeds stock that we received in a trade many years ago. There is a chance this line could actually be even older stock derived from Sacred Seeds genetics, since the envelope these seeds were stored in were simply labeled “1985 SS Skunk”. We do know that the original seeds were obtained by a gentleman who lived in Holland in the 80s before moving back to California with his collection of seeds which he then meticulously inbred. While we attempted to reach out and gain more information on the pedigree from the source, we have not been able to re-establish contact.
What is certain is that the mother chosen for this project is one of the finest Skunk #1 specimens we’ve ever seen. Growth rate was explosive and easily two to three times as rapid as any of the other plants from the same batch of seed. As expected, yields were equally impressive and with a bud density and resin production not typically seen in cultivars of this vintage.
The offspring of these two classic Skunk #1 lines open pandoras box of phenotypes. We’ve found everything from the sweet and citrusy California skunk, to the funky cheese phenos, to earthy oiled leather.
Structure is very uniform, with the classic towering single cola with long satellite limbs that orbit the main bud when grown naturally and un-topped. Flowering time is a typical 8 weeks, although for a much more heady experience you may choose to chop earlier. Yields and resin production are much improved over the Skunk #1 of yesteryear, and with potency coming in at 23%, this old skunk definitely has some new tricks.

They also have some other stuff, Id like to have. And about $65 usd a pack with shipping, thats pretty cheap.
From the structure they grow like the later 80s skunk rather than any i ran off of from 84 or 85 stock to my eye those do look like sensi skunk1late80s/early 90s stock cos the earlier skunks are 12 weeks or more with huge colas not so triangular in shape more stacked calyxes also that looks stockier and earlier from my experience dont get me wrong it could be selected to be so and thats why i see you mention cheesey phenos thats intresting well that cut was a sensi skunk1 found in packet in 88 as well

Nobody will ever have the old skunks again. Evolution says so ! Just as you cannot recreate your grandparents by screwing a cousin or auntie.
The planets microbiome has also evolved in the Half-Century since skunk phenos were so commonly found in seedy weed. We have different microbes and molds flourishing now that did not reproduce as easily back in 1980 when atmospheric sulphur fell back to the ground.
Breeders weeding out intersex traits could have unknowingly reduced the skunk thru "selective breeding" in environments different from that of the many skunks original terroirs.
I had the privilege to crack skunk bagseeds in the 80s.
The high was average and the best ones always reeked of skunk early in the seedling stages. A vegger with only 5 nodes would stink up a house.

So if you insist on trying to "find or recreate" skunk just cull everything that doesn't reek of skunkspray early in veg. And don't waste your time with any of these packs:

Has anyone grown out the 79 Florida heirloom skunk yet?
I wish someone would grow it, and give a report. Ive got 3 packs of the 79, 1 pack of the 81, and 2 packs of the Southern Super Skunk, but cant grow anything, at the moment.
Seems legit, considering Katsu, says hes grown it, and says it is the real deal skunk. He also sells it. I know I couldnt let the genes getaway, considering his endorsement.

If they dont pan out?? Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I bought 2 packs of the Southern Super Skunk last week, and stupid me, thought they sent the wrong order, as there was only 1 vial of the FSS, and 1 12 pack of 79 Heirloom S1. I didnt count the SS, and he had sent all of them in 1 vial, and dumbass me ( STONED ) thought they were all the same, so I put all of them, in 1 vial, so now the FSS, and the 79 S1s, are mixed, though, any males will be the FSS. The other packs, arent mixed.
They sent the 12x 79 S1s as freebies last week, with the SSS,, because I waited over the weekend, for a response ). 12 79 S1s, are $200, so they gave me $200 worth of free seeds. But, if theyre JUNK, theyre worth nothing.

I also NEVER saw Skunk, in Sk1. Ever. We got it from William ( NOODLE ) Hayes, in Meigs county Ohio, in 1979. Im in East Ky. Noodle, is the originator of Meigs county Gold,,. Noodle passed in 2020, in St Marys Hospital, in Huntington, Wva. He was about 75-76. My buddy met him in 1971. Buddy played in a band, that opened for James Gang, at Athens- Ohio University.

Copa, is now working with some of Noodles genetics, and has them for sale. They were given to Copa, by his family. Nephew of Noodles is a Hunting Buddy of Copas. I think. His son, was a member here a few years ago, and cleared a few things up.

Another guy, on this site, informed me about 4-5 months ago, Copa had acquired some of Noodles genetics, and was working with them.

Hi there!

I am a hobby grower, musician, and engineer living in Athens, OH. I have been doing a lot of research on Noodles as of recent. I've been collecting local strains (Lemon G, Deathstar, Dumpster, Illudium, etc,). I really hope to show people what a great history of cannabis we have here in Ohio.

I play music down in Pomeroy a lot and have met some old heads down in Meigs county who have been telling me lore about Noodles and all the awesome strains he grew down here. I truly appreciate all the info you put up about him in this post: https://www.rollitup.org/t/old-school-skunk-whos-found-it.943043/post-17302458

I noticed you said your buddy opened for James Gang/Joe Walsh, how cool! A lot of the guys I play music with are in their 70's now and they had lots of good memories of those bands. They said they were out of Kent, and obviously played all around.

I just wanted to pop in and let you know that Meigs Gold is still kicking! Noodles handed out beans of some of his stuff to his family. One of Noodles' nephews happens to be hunting friends with Copa (of Copa Genetics) and they got to talking. Copa got the Meigs Gold seeds and grew them out, found a few keepers, bred F2s and also some of his own crosses. I'm working with Copa and his team now to hopefully acquire some of those genetics so I can bring them back to their homeland!

Anywho, thanks again for sharing your insight on the subject!

I was sent these by mistake, and they told me to keep them
