Please don't allow this thread to get political. Then admin may shut it down or say it belongs in political section.
Nobody wants to turn this into a political thread at all. BUT!!!! Oklahoma is the reddest of the red states and the most conservative state in the nation. And about 95% of us like it like that. And it does play a part in all grows be them hobby or commercial grows and people that use. Oklahoma is a Huge 2A state. So weed and guns had to be blended in together,,, which they have done a great job on! The fact we even have medical mj in the state is a freaking miracle! And being able to grow our own legal now with a card is something I honestly never thought would happen. I didn't even know if they would issue me a card since I had got busted/convicted/then wiped from my record so to speak for growing years ago. There were a lot of unknowns when this all started. And honestly there are still a huge number of unknowns concerning the laws that seem to at times to change daily with confusion concerning rights and enforcement.

I agree with everything you said. I moved from Texas to Oklahoma for a reason. Oklahoma has a long way to go and many improvements need to be made to both the laws and enforcement. OMMA needs to get their shit together. Me personally I think it should just be made recreational here in our state.

I have mixed thoughts on going Rec. With no caps or canopy limits, I wonder if it will encourage more grows to come online and make the situation worse?, or will the Rec side be less taxed?, ... I kinda think that everybody who smokes, has access anyways. When you can buy 3 oz of flower, 1 oz of concentrate, and 72 oz of edibles at one stop... and you can stop at multiple places, your buddy can just go load up and distribute amongst his friends while only holding one card.

You have very valid points. I never thought about it in those terms before.

And then there are these guys. I know a guy a few blocks over (lives down the street from another home grower I know) Grows his own (has his card) and sells to people without medical cards at higher prices than the dispensaries.....AND pays out a grand per pound to other home growers. All day long he and his ole Lady are running two vehicles delivering. After dark Im told its not uncommon to see 6-7 cars per hour up to midnight. And no one in the neighborhood seems to care. Three houses across the street are growing and one next to him. He had six outdoor plants stolen from him last fall a week before harvest and it didn't slow him down a bit. He's doing better and moving more product than any dispensary in town and paying no taxes. And where there is one Im sure there are more.

He seems like a good guy. I do know him and his parents. But somehow I see things a little differently than a few years ago. Maybe it's part of getting older. Maybe because I've seen inside all the types of cannabis-related businesses. We have something here that I never thought I would live to see. Im not against someone improving their financial position but then these same people are harming those that are playing by the rules. And some of those are my friends. Some have invested their life savings, many have borrowed to the hilt to achieve a dream. I just had a friend sell out his dispensary not 8 blocks from this guy because he didnt have enough business to pay his mortgage much less keep the doors to his dispensary open. This same dispensary is the one where a man approached my son in the parking lot offering an oz first for 50 when he told him not interested the price dropped to $40 and then $30. In the parking lot in front of a dispensary that couldnt see him because legally they have to have their windows covered. Any business is a risk but what started as an opportunity for many has failed because of illegal grows, increased taxes, oversaturation resulting in increased competition which has caused the market to fail worse than the Moscow Stock Exchange. A combination of many things. So I have mixed feelings on what he does. Whereas if it was ALL still illegal I'd probably be going to him for smoke...lol. But how would we feel if he was foreigner operating an illegal grow of hoop houses.... would he still be a good dude?

I hated having to have people in my life that I didn't want just to access weed. The dispensaries became those same type of people. Haven't been to a store in over a year, and can't foresee any future visits. I don't want to give my money to some douchebag that is a middleman. And then the buds have little to no effect. If the smoke is only flavor, I don't want it. We need to regulate this plant like we do tomatoes.

Hey Folks. I moved out here from SC to OK to run a start up grow. I basically do Everything Day to Day, 6 months in now. I came into the job with just one shipping container with 20 mothers, then started building a second container to flower. I cut clones from all our mothers and we are currently about 12 days into flower in container 2. Some strains have already hermed out and been totally eliminated. Anyway, now that i am actually flowering and things are slowing down I am finally starting to enjoy the job, I am learning the OMMA system as I go.

I Actually have a question, what do you guys do with used rockwool cubes? i culled a chunk of herms and now im stuck with a bunch of 6inch pargos. They do no burn and I do no plan to dig a hole that big. So far this Purple Bud is my favorite, its just sexy. The Green Gellato is kinda killing it growth and bud wise. Currently fighting thrips, Athena IPM for clones, Neem and citric acid sprays for mothers.

I thought I wanted rec here in Oklahoma. But after hearing your concerns I am not sure. I want the system to work for everyone. Just seems to me that there has to be a happy medium where it works for everyone. I am curious to know what changes should be made to make it work for everyone.

In a nut shell it does not effect commercial growers at this point from what I can see. It only effects dispo and the consumer. And that comes down to tax. No medical card rec use 15% excise tax, medical card 7% tax plus all the other normal sales taxes that are in place now. Joe blow public can grow there own just like a medical card holder 6 adults, 6 seedlings. And there maybe some guff about individual sales. Rec users could possible sell up to a OZ between each other, but medical users couldn't or some BS like that. Need to read more about it. And low order cases for weed crimes under old law would be dropped, vacated and such.
