Okay. Absolute Newb...

I'm starting a small grow in my basement. I've done massive amounts of research online and I have yet to find a decent compendium of what I will need to make this happen.

What I'm looking for isn't necessarily a list of specific materials. More a list of things I need to consider. I've seen pictures of large grow ops using a CO2 tank. I need to be able to answer the question of why that's being done.

If anyone can hold my hand for a minute and give me a small compendium/checklist of things I need to watch out for, the help would be much appreciated.

edit: I should point out that I'm a planner. I like everything to be in order before development actually begins.

not 100% sure i understand what you're asking. there are so many different ways to grow and virtually every grower does something differently. most people agree to keep your plants green and not to stress them too much, other than that its up to you, you could just look at a grow journal on here, if you like what you see just ask the person for advice. or you could decide how you want to grow, then buy a grow guide based on that method. good luck

Agreed ... most grow journals are people documenting their forst grow, you can learn a lot by reading through a few and seeing the mistakes being made and corrected.
Making mistakes is fine, but it is always better if it is someone elses mistake that you learn from.

I'm not looking for a materials list of things I need to build it (btw hydro with LED's. room is an old coal chamber about 6'x7' and the rest of the basement doesn't have any kind of square measurements).
I'm looking more for other considerations. I've got everything I need to put seeds in my grow medium and start growing. The seeds I have are from female clones (never been around a male their entire life). That's pretty much all I have though. I have lights, nutrients, grow medium, it's a basement that stays fairly warm so temperature isn't really an issue, I just have no idea what else I need to consider to make this a successful project.

When I say "considerations" I mean a list like:
Grow medium
Lights
Seeds
Temperature
And then all the stuff I'm not sure about.

I can do the research on each of those items specifically, I just have no idea what they are. Am I making more sense?

I'd say pick up some books. Buds for less or the grow bible will give you step by step and a nice list of materials. It could take 20-30 pages to hold your hand through the whole process :) info on forums is great but I feel like I learned a lot more of the basics from the books I've read.

books? but I have the internet? lol.

thanks. I ordered it.

Still, if anyone on these forums has suggestions for the list that might not be covered in books or personal experience they'd like to share in this thread, I'd love to hear it.
