Obama: $150M in September?

They did the figures on international donations and it's about 1% of the total donations to the Obama campaign. Significant, but not enough to alter the dynamics of the race. People donating have to affirm that they're US citizens, but naturally some lie. And those donations aren't even all illegal; for instance college students studying abroad would be legit.

Seeing as how my kids are in their early 20's and I happen to know all of their friends as well. I have seen them struggling, it's not easy for a young person trying to strike out on their own. I've served up meals to plenty of them too.

You are so hateful, what is your problem? I guess you must know every young person on the planet since you claim to be so versed in what they want. The ones I know can't afford to be taxed more than they already are. They can't even afford the taxes on them now. Especially this summer when gas was $4.00 per gallon and milk was nearly $4.00 gallon too.

What the fuck do dead fetus' have to do with anything? How can you see where you are going with your head so far up your ass?

No, but you keep on bringing up young people, as if you can read their minds.

What's next, are you going to pull an "Edwards" and start speaking for dead fetuses, too?

Good for you Miss, but I fail to see how robbing me or forcing me to pay for health care, or forcing them to pay for health care is going to make it easier. If they couldn't afford the current high tax rates what makes you think they are going to be able to afford health care, and the additional taxes that goes with it?

Besides, who doesn't struggle when they are young? (Besides those crack snorting idiots in Hollywood, and the children of millionaires, and politicians)

Go get some weed, you're beginning to sound like Chuckbane, and I think that's disturbing.

What makes you think it's taxes that they can't afford? It's everything else that's unaffordable. Prices on everything have gone up while wages have stayed the same for all but the wealthiest Americans. People who were barely getting by before are floundering now. And heaven help you if you need hospitalization.

That's for sure, I've cancelled a few appointments myself because I have to pay for property tax, can't also pay the 20% my health care doesn't cover too.

Easy, logical answer, if they weren't paying taxes they'd be able to afford everything else.

Thus, taxes are the problem.

So, when wasn't it difficult for young people who are just starting out? The answer isn't to use the gun of government to confiscate money from others in an attempt to enjoy the unearned at someone else's expense. The answer for young people is to set reasonable goals, both short term and long term ... then work your freakin' ass off to attain them.

Personally, I'm sick of looters. bongsmilie

I'm not saying it should be easy, but over the last few years its only gotten harder. Anymore, a college education is a necessity for anyone who expects to have a decent career. If you have more than one sibling, your parents will have a really tough time putting you through school, and you'll have to take out loans. By the time you're even looking for work, you're already deep in debt. And if you're like me, you'll graduate with a bachelor's degree and be unable to find any jobs near where you live that actually pay a decent wage and provide health insurance. And no, I'm not an art history major, my degree is in biomedical engineering. Now, we both know the government is not entirely to blame for these problems. Still, the Republicans are acting as though there's no problem that tax cuts won't solve. At least the Democrats have ideas.

Now I will tell you one reason businesses aren't hiring people, and it's not high taxes. In the US, employers typically pay health insurance, and health insurance costs are skyrocketing. If you were expected to pay those costs for your employees, would you want to hire more people? I live near the Canadian border, and so much manufactured stuff comes here from their side. If you're a manufacturing company that needs to hire a lot of people, you're much better off in Canada, where you're not expected to pay your employees' health insurance costs. Taxes are higher, but it's hardly a deal-breaker.

And I'm not advocating that the government step in and give everyone "free money." But the government does need to make sure that its citizens are able to afford to live here, and right now, they're not doing that.

You need to get out more. College is not the best path to a good career. Esp. with the how much college costs.

The best way to get rich is to find something that everyone wants, and nobody haves and produce it.

Thus, Vi is correct, the best way to get ahead is to help other people get what they want.

Lol, That's amusing.

Do not forget the other passage

Passage 4 verse 61:4-6 - And the Good Reverend Wright called unto Heaven for a curse to be placed upon the nation called the United States, and behold a demon stepped out of a light, and that demon was known as Obama.

Federal minimum wage has only increased by $3.25 in the past 20 years. 20 years ago gas was under $1.00 per gallon. This summer gas was up to $4.00 per gallon. Wage increases are no where near matching the rate of inflation. Imagine trying to live on that kind of money.

Notice that from 1981 to 1988 there was no increase in the minimum wage (3.35) ? Notice that from 1997 to 2006 there was no increase in the minimum wage either (5.15).

Heaven forbid if you have less than 10 acres of farmable land too. Ah well won't it be nice not to have to pay those taxes though :).

Hey this is where I pull out my Healing Herbs book and get rich. I'll charge 1 cow and 6 chickens to heal a simple flesh wound. That's right, free market. Then when the suits need help I can say, "sorry got any cows and chickens? No? Didn't you know cows and chickens are the new health insurance? Sorry can't do anything for you.

Where the hell do you figure that if there were no taxes we'd all have to farm.

Last time I checked the government had nothing to do with bringing food to the market, producing software, making cars, making the parts that go in cars, mining, writing, painting, etc.

0% Taxation would not result in an agrarian society, despite whatever weird bizarre twisted ideas you have to the contrary.

Personal Income Taxes don't account for nearly as much of the federal budget as one would think.

Individual Income Taxes 794 7.3 1,044 8.0 Corporate Income Taxes 132 1.2 354 2.7 Other Taxes 857 7.9 1,009 7.7 Total Revenues 1,783 16.5 2,407 18.4

Personally, I don't see why the government should need more than 1 Trillion dollars.

That covers defense spending nicely, and would allow the government to pay the interest on the debt.

No, Personal and Corporate Income Taxes aren't really necessary.

Besides, a lot of the income could be made up with steeper tariffs on foreign goods.

The government could always tighten their belts. They waste far too much money as it is. The citizens should vote on the total of the budget, then they take that total and have to break it down for expenses. If their is any moeny left, they can divide it up for their pay. If their own check depends on them being frugal I bet they'd find ways to cut wasteful spending really quick.

Yeah, there's really only two responsibilities that the Fed should be worrying about.

Defense (and that doesn't mean deploying troops to 100+ nations)
and paying off the Federal Debt (not adding to it)
