Day 10

The girls are looking great, noticed increased growth and gave them 1/2 rec. feed, of both fox farms big bloom; and grow big. Along with 1/4 tes. of hydrogen peroxide into 1 1/2 gal. of distilled water. the plants where thirsty! misted them after with 1/2 tes. big bloom (bat guano and all the good-stuff) and 1/4 hydrogen peroxide into 1 liter of seltzer water. room is staying constant in the 73 degree range.

FEEDBACK - I LOVE IT! so please hit me up with any comments

Using hydrogen peroxide in with your organic nutes is killing them. You cannot use hydrogen peroxide with organic nutes such as the fox farm trio. I would dump that batch out and mix up a new one without the h2o2. You can get some hygrozyme to replace the h2o2 so that your living organic nutes can stay alive.

WOW thanks Tom, that is a HUGE variable i did not think about!!!!!!!! as for the hygrozyme, can i pick this up at a hydro store only, or is this available at a local green thumb?

as for now, can i make 2 separate batches, 1 with my liq. nutes and one with h2o2, feed at separate times? i think this may still kill the nutes.
what do you think?

and as for foliar feeding, should i be adding h2o2? Ive been going off of the book "marijuana New School"
in all of their recipes they have h202 incorporated. they state that:

"h2o2 is a colorless liquid that adds valuable oxygen so that nutrient uptake is more effective and anaerobic bacteria and viruses are eliminated. plants definitely grow bigger with the use of h2o2 but it can be eliminated from these recipes if desired...."

I know h2o2 is beneficial for the roots, as i incorporate this into my feed (however no longer until i get that hygrozeme), but after reading this, i added it to my seltzer water, and have noticed improvements w/ no neg. effects yet.

what are your thoughts, or any recommendations for a substitute i.e just use the hygrozeme instead?

what are everyone's thoughts on: pruning/bending/thinning/topping/lst

with the pics i have in the first post, what can i start to do. and as it being my first grow, I'm looking for something that is less drastic, and stressful on the plant, and something relatively easy to do for a beginner.

Day 11

so i went on an adventure to my local hydro store today
after some research i purchased:

Wet-betty's wetting product (helps adsorption of nutes used w/ foliar and feed)
Super Thrive (b-12 vita/hormone supplement) used w/ feed
some PH up and PH down along w/ PH testers

today is feeding day:

FEED

1 1/4 Gal. distilled water

1 1/4 tablespoon of Fox Farms Big Bloom
1/4 tes. of Fox Farm Grow Big
1/4 tes. Super-Thrive
1 tablespoon Wetting agent
1/2 of 1/4 tes. h2o2

FOILAR MIX

1 Liter distilled water
1/4 tes. wetting agent
1 1/4 tes. Big Bloom

feed and sprayed heres some pics!

thanks for the ideas on topping and lst, i will be trying this!
any good links to guides i have fond some but i didnt like them

I'd also recommend BioHeaven to increase nutrient uptake capabilities. I'm growing several BCN Diesels and a NYC Diesel along with several other strains. The BioHeaven works wonders man. You should look into it. I'll warn you, its a bit expensive.

Sounds good i will look into this right now! thanks for the heads up Trop! what amount did you use ( manufacturers recommendation ok?)

i just ordered the tri pack yesterday any good feed back with some pics would be great

I ended up getting some superer-thrive and an organic wetting agent that i purchased at 50% off. i got wet bettys wetting agent, this should help with my nut. uptake. the hygrozyme was priced very high at my local shop, and after some research the wet-betty's was a better choice, still lacking some of the capabilities of the hygrozyme, but for the price it was great. so i ended up getting the wet bettys ill atttach a pic of my nut supply so you can get an idea of what im using. so far the plants look an amazing color of green, and after some feeding i have notcied great improvments with little to no neg. side effects i.e nut. burn.

I will also update w/ some more pics, i have noticed even more beautiful green delelopment since last nights update, Hopeing this is due to the new nuts i used. i will get those pics up as soon as my girl gets out of bed, shes lazy.

oh and Trop i forgot to ask, did u top your nyc plants? and if so with good results? i know topping varies in effectiveness from strain to strain, jw if you have tried this yet or any other yield-manipulation (lst, FIM, thinning, prunning) that has worked well with nyc

With the Diesel's I used LST. They seemed to take to it very well. I'll try to get some pics up soon. I've got at least 10+ main bud sites coming out of each plant now, with a nice, even canopy. They've got about 3-4 weeks to go and are looking great. I think you're really going to like this strain. I can't wait to compare my regular NYC Diesel's and my BCN Diesel's (Diesel x Malawi).

Let me know if you decide to get the BioHeaven. At first I started off with less than what was recommended on the bottle and steadily increased it. I never trust the directions on the bottles. You may be able to start off with what it says. This is my first grow using it, but I have definately noticed a difference. I'd like to know how much of the bioheaven people use as well. Anyone have a lot of experience with this stuff?

Oh by the way, my diesel's got very bushy and I did have to clean it up a bit, especially below the canopy. If you decide to train it, expect it to get pretty bushy and be ready to prune some in order to get proper ventilation. Sorry, I haven't tried topping this particular strain yet. Maybe someone else knows how they respond to it.

Thanks on the feed back guys especially nyc growers! i have decided to top 1 plant, lst the other and do a combo of the two on the last.

I have been doing some pruning on the lower canopy, i have taken note of the bushiness.

Day 12:bigjoint:

decided to go on a shopping-spree today...
returned 2 not-so-bright 40w (2700k) CFL's along with
my crappy 20w flour. tube, back to Lowe's they go for a bonus; quick 30 bucks.

Purchases:
For some reason Lowe's had a 68 w CFL (2700 k) in stock, which was a rarity. I took advantage and threw down 20 bucks on this huge ass fool, I snagged the last one.

I also picked up the biggest daylight cfls they had:
2x 50w daylight CFL's

also after some strolling around, I grabbed a
indoor plant hand mister
, along with a bag of

organic blood meal (12-0-0)
in hopes to give the plants a little boost in N, and help development

Lighting Update:
Because of the new lights, I'm going to do a refresh on lumen output and compare it to my grow space:

Lumen output:
Hardware:

  • x3 50w day CFL's (3000 Lumens ea.)
3x3000= 9000 L

  • x4 40w 27k CFL's (2600 Lumens ea.)
3x2600= 7800 L + 9000 L = 16,800 Lumens

  • x1 68w 27k CFL (4200 Lumens)
4200L + 16800L= 21000 Lumens

  • x1 150w HPS (16000 Lumens)
21000L + 16000L =
37000 Lumens Total Output

Quoted from Greg Greens: Cannibus Grow Bible 4th ed. (Lumens+marijuana)
"You do not want to go less than 2500 Lumens, even for one
plant. You want to get the best so you need to hit the 45000 mark or
more. In general one light that casts 45000 lumens is enough to cover
a workspace of about 3 feet by 3 feet. This is quite an average space
and you will probably get anything between 6 - 9 plants in that area.
Again we must keep in mind the strain that we are growing."
-Greg Green

  • My Grow Room is aprox. 2x3x4.5 feet, **height varies accordingly for plant height, as of now *height in the room according to light is about 2.5-3 feet.

  • A little low according to Green's philosophy, but with the smaller detentions, i think i should be ok.

Log of Procedures:

Two things to talk about today,

1st Attempt at Topping

I decided to attempt topping for the first time today. I will eventually lst another plant, and possibly do a combo of lst/topping on the last.

  • I picked the largest of the bunch, clipped in between the 3rd node at those new leaf sets, hit them at about 3/4 of the way down with my pruners. noticed the stringy-like new sets split a tiny bit at the end of the night.
Here is a pic of the damage

What do you guys think, did i do it alright?
sorry for the quality:neutral:

other activities:lol:...

Blood Meal
Went 1/2 of recommended application (which was 1 full tablespoon on top soil per 1 square foot.) did the math *Im using 3 gal pots, ended up with 1.75 square feet of soil per pot, so I added

  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons to the top soil, then worked it in with my hands into top 2-3 inches of soil. Finished with a light watering.

Other Logged Events:

  • regular misting 2ce today.

Questions:

  • what is a good material to use for LST as far as tieing down the plant ect...

  • also as far as feeding regulation. I know many are not for everyday feeding, but after noticing great improvement with little to no harmful side effects with low dosage feeding with regular watering. your thoughts?

and as always the nights picture update:cuss:

  • that about does it for day 12 guys! hope to hear from you soon!

Day 13 Update:

Procedures:
Topped all 3 plants today, with plant B I topped the main cola, and also 3 side branches. The other two plants (A and C) have only been topped once.

As for lst, I am only using 3-gal. pots and this is not really sufficent for a good lst attempt, this will definitly be done on my next grow. As for now I will focus on topping (plant B will be the experiment w/ multiple topping attempts) as the other two will be the constant. I was thinking of possibly doing one more higher yielding technique on one of the plants, leaving one topped only once.

Pic Order: from L-R; Plant A, Plant B, Plant C, Soil test results, Color Chart.

did a little pruning on plant B as it was supper leafy, cut off some leafs to help light penitration.

Also went to the local store and got some epsom salts for mag. and ducktape, you never know when you might need it.

After that I was bored so I decided to do a soil test. I tested soil PH, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium. Included in the pics are the vial results, along with the color chart for reference.
wink.gif

The soil results showed good results:

PH between 6-7, Med-High Levels of Nitrogen, Normal levels of Phosphorus, and average levels of Potassium.

Besides that....

no watering today, the girls are looking good

and as usual the pic update

S7evens HOPFULL Veg Room (6 Plants under t-5 setup) *In Progress

  • In the girls closet, We decided to step up our game. Were going to run a TWO ROOM setup.

The closet directly in front of my current closet grow in our hallway
will be converted to fit
:
  • 6 1-gallon pots for clone transplant/veg they will stay here until moved into the flower room (current grow-setup)
  • When flowering beings, we will start the transplant process, were thinking of going to the club, get a good OG KUSH, GDP, Blueberry, Trainwrek combo. not to sure yet though on the train, it can get huge, but i LOVE trainwrek.
  • 6 young plants will sit under a 2 tube t5 setup, along with as many daylight CFLs i can spare out of the flower room
We have currently just started the process, romoving the junk out of the closet, and doing some sanitization work. lol Ill let you guys know how this is going.
smile.gif

lets get on to the update!

Day 15 Into week 3 of veg!

sorry for not updating last night as promised, I worked 10 hours in a wing restaurant, After a shitty 10 hours I walked out with 40 bucks, I was not in a good mood, since i have 3 spoiled daughter at home...

After work, I noticed plant A had a little yellowness on the side of one of the larger fan leafs along with some drooping on the larger leafs, other plants looked well, with a little light bending occurring on plant C.

decided to water/circulate pots so all are getting equal amounts of light in diff, positions.

Watered/Feed: 1 Gal. of Distilled water
2 table spoons Big Bloom (does not cause Burn)
1. tes. Grow Big
1/4 tes. super-thrive
1 tes. Epsom salt
1 1/2 tes. wetting agent

PH tested super low at 4, used PH UP got it to a nice 6.5

also finished with 1 liter of plain distilled water in each pot.

  • drained the dishes
  • rotated plants ( I try and do this every 12 hours or 1ce a day)
  • Misted w/ my solution 2ce daily

As for this morning

  • The problems with plant A seem to have stopped. I thought this could be do to over/under watering, and after the test of watering it last night, it perked up and the leaves are stretching to the sky! as for the burn, i moved the leaf away from close contact to the cfl's and misted last night and this morning, the leaf seems to be regenerating.
  • The other two seem to have liked the watering also, noticed perkiness in all
    smile.gif

Today I will chill, got work in a little. I might water a little more today, depending on how the soil is. The plants seem to be taking in more water, so i need to watch for this.

Here are the pics guys!
Pic order (left-Right)- Plant A, Plant B, Plant C, Beautiful top color of plant C.

that's it for now guys, Hope to hear from you soon
