Nutrient Recipes? Who's got em?

Thats cool man. But I'm looking for more like, combinations of salts.

I run hydro. (ebb & flow) So Molasses is definately out, although I do use it for my outdoor. Just tryin to cut costs by mixing my own nutes instead of payin for em. Like GH or Foxfarms 2 part. One mainly NPK and one mainly micro.

Just hoping someone will share a recipe or 2 with me before I take things into my own hands and try to remember what I learned in my old chem classes.

Here you go. I compiled the nutrient info I've spread out over a couple of my posts and combined it for you here. Just swap Canna Coco for Canna Aqua, and add a little h2o2 as I find it works great with hydroton in ebb and flow.

Here's a pic of everything I use from nutes to what I put them in and stir em with. Just cause I know people like to look at pics, heh. I also still have the price tags on almost everything, so I'll go ahead and list it.

Closet 001.jpgCloset 002.jpg

The only thing I won't replace exactly for future grows is Overdrive, and I'll get Gravity instead.
Bud Candy - $29.99
Overdrive - $32.99
Organa Guano - $19.99
Hydroplex - $29.99
Dutch Master Folitech - $32.50
Dutch Master Penetrator - $??
Roots Organic - $29.99
Canna Coco A - $13.99
Canna Coco B - $13.99
pH Down - $12.99
Rhyzotonic - $21.99
Cannazym - $13.99
Open Sesame and Beasty Bloomz packets were free.
pH tester - $74.99
truncheon PPM tester - Around $120

And then how to use them for flowering, assuming it was an eight week strain that grew normally:

I think you all are misunderstanding me.

I'm trying to move AWAY from buying a shitload of products.

I'm going to buy SALTS (monopotassium phosphate, calcium nitrate, magnesium sulphate, etc)
and mix up my OWN nutes.

It seems like I'm going to be on my own for this one....

I think a bigger problem you're going to have is that you're going to be missing out on a lot of minor stuff that's in a lot of the products. You can always just look on the back of the bottles, though.

I don't mean to clutter this post but,

YOU ARE ALL FUCKING RETARDED!!!!

The question was on how to build your own HYDRO nutrients.

I am no help on this topic, but dyna gro stuff is cheap, simple and great for hydro.

Nah my dude.
Going to add all 16 essential nutrients. Macro and Micro.

Only going to be missing additives like humic acid/amino acids etc that arent really necessary.

lol good luck with that bro...you think these nute companys just mix some shit together n sell it..?
it takes numerous scientists, years of testing....im not even gonna get into it..!!

Basically by the time....ahhhhh nevermind..!!

yes. I do think these nute companies juts mix some shit together and sell it. Don't believe what AN tells you. People have been formulating and using complete hydroponic nutrients since the 70's, man.
You just need a little knowledge of chemistry/botany and think a little bit.
Most companies have a "guaranteed analysis" that tells you exactly what ratios of the essential nutrients are supposed to be in their products.
And you don't need numerous scientists to replicate that. If you put on a lab coat and open a chemistry book, you can be a mothafuckin scientist, too!!

That being said... For those of you who are interested, I found some of FatMan's old posts listing some of his mixes:

fatman's Veg Formulation

Ratio 3.25 : 1 : 3.54

(The higher Potassium is to raise the EC proportionally so as to adjust nutrient uptakes.)

Nitrogen 267
Phosphorus 82
Potassium 291
Magnesium 93
Calcium 261
Sulfur 123
Iron 10.00
Manganese 5.00
Boron 5.00
Zinc 5.00
Copper 1.00
Molybdenum .09

Ounces

Part A

Calcium Nitrate 91.5
Potassium Nitrate 17.4
Iron Chelate 7.14

Part B

Potassium Nitrate 17.4
MonoPotassium Phosphate 27.3
Magnesium Sulfate 66.4
Manganese Sulfate 1.423
Boric Acid / Solubor 1.944
Zinc Sulfate 1.542
Copper Sulfate .311
Ammonium Molybdate .013

Volume of Stock Solutions
5.3 gallons
Dilution Rate 100
EC 2.75
pH 5.8
TDS 1925

and....

Nitrogen 167
Phosphorus 333
Potassium 397
Magnesium 100
Calcium 215
Sulfur 133
Iron 3.33
Manganese 1.67
Boron 1.67
Zinc 1.00
Copper .33
Molybdenum .03

Ounces
PART A
Calcium Nitrate 14.2
Iron Chelate .45

Ounces
Part B
MonoPotassium Phosphate 21.0
Magnesium Sulfate 13.5
Manganese Sulfate .090
Boric Acid / Solubor.123
Zinc Sulfate .058
Copper Sulfate .020
Ammonium Molybdate .001

Volume of Stock Solutions 1/2 gallon each part

Dilution Rate
100

This is a high concentrate formulation based upon analysis concentrations. The EC of the Part A is 1.08, Part B EC = 1.64, combined the EC is 2.72. Obviously a higher EC then most would consider using.

The PH used with RO water should be 5.4 at 1:100

The TDS ast a 1:100 mix is 1904

There you go. Buy some salts from ebay or a chemical supply store and go at it. You can tailor the quantities to suit your personal needs. (that's what I'm doing)

Anyways, there's a jumping off point.

I for one am happy to see that some people are actually interested in making their own nutes.

Let us know how it goes. This could be interesting.

Nice!

Get a few grows in with your ferts and send me the recipe, with easy to mix instructions like a teasoon of this a cup of that 2 ml of the other etc..

Here's a professional Chemical Scientist / Botanist who tells you how to mix your own nutrients. There's also a free Hydroponics Calculator program there you install on your computer for free. It tells you warnings and etc, but most importantly it tells you what order to mix everything in!!

This is a huge blog, your are being linked to one page of many

P.S. We are talking about 3 Main Fertilizers and some trace elements.. It isn't brain surgery, AN doesn't have magic nutrients there just nutrients.

Are you in this to grow and develop the finest medicine/dank, or be a fertilizer machine? There are only so many hours in a day to get things DONE.

Hydro nutes are cheap and effective. There are plenty of choices, organic, etc... Would you rather be dosing nutes in exact amounts all day or researching new growing techniques? It is gonna take INSANE amounts of time to deal with each tiny micronutrient and so on. Don't be cheap! There are plenty of affordable hydro nutrients that work wonders.

AN is a rip off for those not willing to do the research, but there is a fine line my friend. Save yourself the time, frustration, loss of capital and TIME (the one thing you can't recoup.)

If you want to go crazy over the details, go soil, buy a microscope, and the ends are limitless, TRUST ME, I did it. Biology is where the truly scientific grower finds solace, not chemistry. Of course the greatest of us requires knowledge of both. Enjoy your plants, don't overthink things that have been figured out for you by men and women with PhD's and decades of guerilla crops under their belts.

Nutrient companies list their chemical compositions in their "guaranteed analysis".

Why do I need to pay an 800% markup?
