right i got some kc brains northern lights special seeds for £11 (got cheap ones due to being 1st ever without family help)

sataday 7th march - seeds delivared so i put them between sevral wet towels to germinate them
sunday 8th march - seeds started to crack with 2 showing there roottap (only very small so left it overnight to grow longer)
monday 9th march - 4 seeds all showing root tap at about an inch so placed these in so john bowlers all purpose soil . i planted the seeds at a depth of about 2 inches which was rather deep (now learnt to not do it that deep next time) the other 6 seeds still crackd but most not showing roottap
tuesday 10th march - 5 of the seeds germinating were showing roottap of about halfth inch so i planted these in the same soil as the other seeds ( the pots im using are 10cm as i heard its best to only repot them twice during growing so for the next repot im going to put them in the pots there going to be in for the rest of the grow . maybe 20inch pots)
wednesday 11th march - 4 of the 9 seeds i planted have started to sprout just above the surface . i watered all plants on a 12 hour internal (spraying the soil with 5 sprays ) i watered at 8am and 8pm . still no sign of rootap on 10th seeds so till keeping towels wet and hoping to see some action
thursday 12th march - still no sign of roottap on seeds so decided to place it in some wet soil and hope for the best . 2 more of the 9 seeds i planted are just below the surface . still watering them at 8am and 8pm with 5 sprays of water on to the top of the soil
friday 13th march - sprouted seeds are growing nicely above the surface of the soil . 5 still just below surface .
sataday 14th march - you can see the 5 sprouts still just below the surface of the soil and the other 4 sprouted are about 2 inches tall now so i decided to place all of them under my 125w maxibright cxfl and 2 25w cfl (for sides) . i watered them at 8am again and the soil is staying nice and moist . got 3 of my 5 fans running (the smallest ones) going to put the other 2 frans on at about 8pm for the night period of lighting . also i have a very small desk fan standing on the floor next to the pots and this if facing the light bulb to cool it down a bit and also to strenghen the stems . the temp in my grow is 70f . i will update later of my night temp. still no sign of action from the tenth seeds that wouldnt germinate . giving it till tomorro then im going to dispose of it.

below is the sprout of one of the plants on thursday

sunday 15th march - had lights on plants for a whole 22 hours (just turnd them off for two hours ) the sprouts have really started shooting up (had to move lights alreadys lol) i watered them at 8am and turned lights off at 9am . got to put them back on at 11am .

Imo its good to start off giving your plants 18/6 or 16/8 so they can establish a good root system which could take up to 3 weeks then go to 24/0 for the rest of veg time.Doing that works great and grows nice bushy monsters.

yes a fan is good for them. these that i germed last week have been on 24/0 for a week now. roots are growing good, i just transplanted to 1 gal. pots yesterday and had a pretty start on the roots. first time trying 24/0 for veg. and so far im not seeing much for stretch. im using 2- 4' shop lights with 2 bulbs each. hopefully i can get them under the metal halide within a couple of weeks.
sorry i havnt started a journal because im really not thrilled about posting pics of something like this on the net.

well i have always used an 18/6 for veg. i decided to go with 24/0 to see how it works and maybe keep them shorter because they are going to get at least a 5 week veg.
i have heard some people say that you should do an 18/6 or a 20/4 schedule for the best results.
i beleive a short dark period is good for the plants, but i still wanted to do a 24/0 just to see. once i put them under the metal halide i will be going to a 20/4 schedule.

so an 18/6 or 20/4 is probly the best.

like i said b4 once a seedling it can take up to 3 weeks for a good rooting system.so go 18/6 or 16/8 for the first2-3 weeeks then after that give it 24/0 until u want to flower.when they are young plants could use the dark time alot more then when they r older unless they are flowering.Once u have a healthy root system you will have a healthy plant.`
