Noob-expert grower looking for basics

Ive been growing my food for 20 yrs and use to grow weed back in the 90s when we still stole street lights for our fixtures. Im in Florida and hoping I can get a card and start growing after january and have some basic questions.

1. Where do you buy a tent, lights, etc? Ive found ebay, htg, and 1000bulbs. Are they good? Is there anywhere else recommended?. local is not an option as the closest hydro store is a day trip and, I was told, watched by feds constantly.

2. Are the agromax tents really as great as they look or is gorilla worth the extra cash?

3. Ive never grown indoors in a tent. I'm thinking organic, 400w hps cool tube w/reflecter fixture with a 4" centrifugal fan and carbon filter in the 36"x22"x63" agromax tent. Good setup? any advice or replacements? i only smoke an ounce a month if its the right strain and can set it up a veg area later when wife ok's the 4x4 for now three foot or less sides is a requirement.

4. I know plants but not indoor growing, besides heat and light distances are there any other learning curves to look out for?

I know these are stupid basic questions but I did try to search and after five pages of returns didnt find these answers.

I love Gotham Hydroponics eBay shop. They carry good name brand stuff (their Lighthouse Hydro tents are extremely durable and cheap; I have two of them). I've also bought numerous other things from them. Great pre-and-post sales support, very communicative and helpful, prompt shipping, and discrete.

I've purchased smaller items from other vendors, but only one-offs so I can't vouch for them. Everything else I like to buy local at my hydro shop, which I know for you isn't an option.

Also, I run a 1.5x3x3' tent for my aerocloner and my veg plants, and a 2x4x5' tent for flower with a 400w HPS w/ cooltube and a 440 CFM inline fan with carbon filter.

I've flowered three large plants at once in the tent, and in another run, ran 24 clone-to-flower plants all at once in a 3-phase perpetual (my 12/12 from seed sig thread). You can gauge space reqs from there.

One thing though, is that I'd advise buying the biggest you can (600 or 1000w dimmable lamp and the largest tent that will fit) as you WILL want to upgrade shortly after getting started.

You can build your own tent easily and have something more durable. I built mine out of pvc and reflectix. If I could do it, anyone can!

For an ounce a month, you can stay pretty small. Have you pondered LED. My use is a out the same and I keep myself full with a 160w flower tent and a veg can that runs normal home depot led (108w if running full capacity under my bulb hood). Heat, well my prob is keeping it warm enough during veg....

Speaking only for myself, I cant grow shit outdoors but inside, anything possible. I even succeeded with cilantro which had had been an abject failure outdoors time after time. Once you get your setup dialed in, you will have no probs...

Ive been watching prop2 too and it is definitely set up for the good old boy system, cant grow for commercial unless you've been in business 45 years or w/e, don't get me started, but locally they already wont arrest growers that are sick or legally disabled. I own my own company so I don't qualify as legally disabled even though I am so once im carded and stay under 24, my attorney says I'm good, locally, and there is something in there about access if no dispensaries are available or something, where i am that is going to be awhile. If the lawyers say coo,l its all good, had him on speed dial for years got tired of almost getting arrested.

Thank you ill check out gotham and good to know about spacing, im planning on scrogging two plants at a time then four if I can upgrade later. I saw the dial a watt ballast but the knocking out internet for a block stuff kinda scared me away.

Id love to hear more about this diy tent. is there a write up or video somewhere? Led is outside of the budget right now or I would.

this is the kind of stuff you can't see in the paid for media
so in practice Florida could be almost California for MMJ?
let the madness begin i say! Prop 2 will be almost as big as Colorado's legal weed

yes it could end up that way in theory. The wording is extremely loose, "any other condition deemed by a doctor", but the state would have a lot of regulatory power through the department of health. Also we have a deep local weed culture. My county already has the largest nursery in the state for Charlotte's web and is the humbolt of fl...no where near as cool, as in its - apple(ca) to turds(fl) but still its apart of our local culture and we have never really followed prohibition until the coke got bad. Ive smoked a joint in front of deputies before after a family tragedy, as long as your local, non violent, and not driving your cool.

The crap part is only the good old boys, as in old money families, can really get into the industry.. The restriction on dispensary owners and nurseries are ridiculous. Only five nurseries qualified for the Charlotte's web license. They canceled the raffle cause there are more licenses than people that qualify. Talk about cutting off the competition.

But personal use, once carded, is almost unregulated outside of existing laws like dui. Again that is my understanding of it and what my attorney said he read.
