pc fan means a pc case fan, they're square, about 4 by 4 inches usually
they usually run on 6-12v dc
the easiest way to wire them is to find an old 'wall wart' power supply, one that's note being used anymore
strip wire and wrap, and you're in business

Ight sounds perfect cause I the fan system I made up finally gave out after 4 months of working and 4 by4 is really tiny so how much do they cost and where can I find them?

i bought mine on newegg.com - good site for those who build their own pc's
they have quite a selection, look for case fans
i bought a pack of 10 for about $15 or so(about a year ago)
they were just so cheap in bulk, seemed the way to go

4 1/2 weeks of flower, wasn't going to update this often
but buds are really swelling fast, seemed worthwhile to document
almost as fast as the fan leaves are losing color
i've found some similar PPP grows, the indica pheno can ripen real quick
it may finish in 8 weeks after all, which would be fine by me

great looking!!! :)
as you know mine is at the same stage - same lst and indica-ish - and my leaves look *exactly* the same now. same yellowing, same number of leaves at the same spots. just fyi m8 :)

(only difference, I have burnt tips (slight overnute) which slowed-freezed her the last three-five days therefore I gave her a lil' purified, clean water yesterday - hope I did right)

Thanks for the info the plants lookin good still can't belive the results ur having for such a short time u vegged it
this my 2rd grow from seed with short veg time, short veg time really doesn't seem to affect the yield all that much
from what i've read, the plant will grow until it becomes mature enough

and thanks for the 'synch' trifase, i was getting a bit worried about the fan leaves
my last strain ripened slow, real slow for an indica, so in my mind i'm still on that schedule
faster ripening feels pretty good, compared to 12 weeks of flower

12 weeks would be nuts for me, I have little little patience ahahah :D

I'm no expert but I was very very worried too that's why I did some homeworks lol! :
turns out that this N deficiency starts usually after 4 weeks and is perfectly normal (and sometimes doesn't happen at all also) it manifests as buds fatten up taking sugars faster from older, bottom leaves, which can't catch up both because of the increasing speed of the process and because flowering nutes contains low N. Most say not to correct this problem because it is not really a problem: cutting leaves makes yeld smaller and adding N just makes taste worse. (source, among others: http://www.drugs-forum.com/growfaq/97.htm )

I write this not because you don't know :) but because I needed to sum up what (I think) I learnt being in the same situation m8 - (& happy to be corrected if I'm wrong) -

will continue watching you great grow - see ya!!! ;)

nice summary trifase, pretty much matches my own reading
the speed that i was seeing at it was gave a bit of jitters
you definitely don't want to fight the plant's natural ripening schedule
and 12 weeks for an indica is a bit nuts, but what i got is so good, just what i need to tune down an anxious edge in the evening

hey marriedcouple, thanks for the interest

the idea was based on garbage cans grows, they've been around for a while, but i couldn't find the exact dimensions i wanted

so i'll given a quick overview, if you want more details, just ask

the cover is a steel pizza dish, 16 inches, they're sold in walmart
3 lamp sockets were mounted, i used porcelain sockets, they're cheap and available at the hardware stores
3 26w cfl's finish this fixture

the tube could be made from lots of things, i used aluminum flashing from home depot
comes in rolls and is prepainted white on one side, excellent reflecting characteristics
to get a 15 inch tube, cut 4 foot strips, loop it back to edge to edge to get a circular section
that part can be a bit tricky, drill holes 1/2 inch from the edges, small ones for the screws
you need screws to make a good section, tape will not work, at least i had no luck with tape

once you make good sections, you can stack them to get the height you want
that is the really tricky part, i'll explain why if you want details
but the main idea is to stack and join with duct tape, one wrap works fine

the other part here, is the venting, you need to have an about 4 inch hole near the top and bottom
if you look at the pics in the thread, you'll see a pc case fan at the top, this provides the venting

that's a quick overview, i do have another thread that i had a ways back with more pics

simple but effective, as it turns out!

just curious growone: did it ever cross your mind to use that same trashcan (before the shrink :) or even a slightly bigger one) to make a BOG with a 70w HPS?
I know that you're headed elsewhere now, but... just curious as I said :)

actually, i thought about the trashcan quite a bit
what i didn't like(at the time) was the height, just wasn't quite tall enough
of course, i wasn't so up on all the growing methods, such as lst
the size of the cans i had in mind would probably have done better with a 150w hps

Or a 250W CMH :)

quite true, depends on the trashcan size
just checked your grow potseed, good progress there, harvest looks like a month or so away for both of us
done some reads on other PPP grows, one grower who seems to do good grows with PPP says 9 weeks of flower
claims a lot of bulk will get put on from week 8 to 9

Yeah hopefully, I think my PPP maybe a bit behind, how are your buds, are they still pretty small? If you check mine, the mystery plants are freakin' huge while the ppp one is pretty tiny. I have to hope these finish before my work possibly makes me move.

buds are maybe an inch in diameter, best guess, buds/colas are quite leafy which makes it a little tough to gauge
another thing i saw on this other growers log is PPP is not a heavy feeder
he seems to have grown a good number of PPP's, looked like a good source
they way it grew, i thought it was a heavy feeder, but my feed is not too concentrated, kind of makes sense from what we've seen between our 2 grows
your bag seed plants liked your nutes, probably more regular type feeders

I've noticed that too, the PPP plant doesn't seem to suck up water very quickly, unlike the other two which need water nearly every other day.

I'm not sure what strain they are, but I sure hope they aren't bag seed :) (free mystery seeds from nirvana when i bought the ppp).

Curious, do you have a link to the other growers thread? I'd be interested to check it out.

nirvana mystery seeds, they can be quite good, the plants seem happy anyways
you may be able to post some pics when they are nearly ripe, when their look may be distinctive enough for someone to tell what strain they are
the PPP grow log is on another site, the mods here don't care for links to other grow sites
