NFT vs NFT/Aero

Im torn between an NFT system, and a NFT system, but rather then just pumping water down the spout, doing an aeroponics set up in there to mist the roots, then have run off...

What would be better in terms of...
Buildability,
practicality in small grow space

and one more question, is it good to let roots dry out? IE NFT on a timer... or would reg old 24/7 NFT be best...

I use EZ-Clone sprayers
Cycle timer set to one minute on and 5 minutes off
PVC fence posts with 1/2 PVC pipe running inside
400 GPH pump

Very easy to make and under $80.
