Next hype strain

Dude are you still going to be excited about this market when 1000/lb is normal. How about even less? I seriously don’t understand how you can be excited right now. And LED isn’t 40-50 percent cheaper compared to DE hps. Maybe compared to single ended but still, not DE.

yeah I might be taking down half my 1930’s soon and replacing them with the DE’s i took down. Checkerboard action.
We need to talk and compare so I can make up my mind. If you got time hit the dm. If I went and found some longer interconnect cables I could checkerboard before flipping. And maybe put the leds up in veg(1200 dollar veg light smh)

Don't look for hype make it by creating amazing cultivars. Easier said than done right!

For me a good example is me this morning. I have a jar of Apple Fritter and Blueberry. The Fritter was grown well by a good friend. I grew it out last year and let it go due to lacking in a few departments. It is good herb though especially flavor wise.

Made coffee and rolled up a fritter bone. Halfway through I was sick of it to be honest. I also knew if I finished the joint, I would still be just as high as I was after half. Low ceiling for sure on the AF.

Made another cup of coffee and packed a bubbler of the blueberry. The seeds came from another forum member as part of a project. DJ Short Blueberry F4. All sorts of variation in a good way and classic blueberry. After two bubbler hits I am pie eyed and smile plastered. Another rip and here I am rambling. Time to walk the dog and investigate what the day has to offer outdoors. 3 hits of blueberry has me higher than if I smoked a half zip of fritter. You just can't achieve this level of ripped with fritter no matter how much you smoke.

Blueberry buds...
Some phenotypes of the F4, and the last pic is the bud I just smoke a piece of. The flavors range from candy blueberry intense artificial flavor to blueberry the fresh fruit to almost blueberry wine, depending on the pheno.

This bud in the last pic was blueberry #3. When the jar is opened it fills the room with distinct blueberry muffin aroma. Goddamn mouthwatering. As the smoke hits the mouth the intial flavor is similar to the smell, but morphs to an acidic blueberry flavor that coats the mouth. Upon exhale the sweetness ramps up to what one would imagine as sugar coated blueberry candy. It is quite sublime, yet not the best of the batch..more to come.View attachment 5104220View attachment 5104221View attachment 5104222View attachment 5104223View attachment 5104224View attachment 5104225View attachment 5104226
And while I understand what your saying, if I run blueberry in this market no one will ever even get to smoke it. It will set unless I go give out feee samples or something. And I’m not trying to be a jerk, but those buds you posted wouldn’t move here very fast. Trust me it’s mind blowing, but it’s got to be perfect and have a name. It’s because the dispensary prices finally dropped enough to take the majority of customers that care more about price than quality. At the same time it’s never been easier to find the information on how to grow good quality.

This is my apple fritter from last run, and while I agree the high isn’t my favorite. Lots of people seem to love it.

I totally agree about the dispensary. I have never been in one never will. The very best weed never hits the open market. It is paid for before the grow. Looks make zero difference to these type of smokers. It is purely about effect and secondly flavor.

Your Fritter looks great, a lot like what I see and have. It's just Budweiser effect-wise compared to the super complex potent long lasting euphoria of the craft beer Blueberry effect.

My point being is making something new. You are right about the flowers not being despo quality for the IG crowd but when I cross it to this cookie cross20220207_203949.jpg20220206_153211.jpg20220130_120542.jpg20220130_114733.jpg....well now we are talking!

I think the new hype will be crossing the old to the new. As we have seen with the Colombian in Mac, the Hazes etc. Adding some vigor and those qualities that been erased from the current genepool is going to be the way forward.

Try not to take this the wrong way, and I know people are going to say "take it when you want" and "the triches will tell you when you're done" but all the pictures you have shown need at least 3 more weeks. I don't even think they were cut in the "early chop" window unfortunately they just look like they weren't allowed to finish. Leave it even 2 more weeks and you're going to have much better yield and finished product

I'm just super excited about the exotic play right now. And it also excites me that most everyone went led. Because now everyone can get meds cheaper because led is less power consumption there for one should be able to get the consumer cheaper medicine. Remember 600 watts of led blows the fuck out of DE's. No offense to anyone i know my maturity level is a little down, but I'm having a fun time gardening. Never before been like this. LED for life!!!! Hype Strains forever!!!!!!

No taking things the wrong way friend, it's just the internet. I get what you are saying as the blueberry needs to be pulled early to get the effect and flavor I seek. If it goes until Amber it is ruined. At least this particular pheno. As far as the cookies it was taken at 10% Amber which is where I like them.

Best part of growing my own is being able to harvest for effect.

The Hazes are sure to be included in the hype train. All I read about is Hazes it seems. Reminds me of the 90's. Hammerhead is working some cool Haze crosses.

Miracrop, (FrostyMcNosty) has all his Shortier crosses out and I personally think they are killer. I have Amtrak, Get Shorty, & Sonic Boom currently and will be running them this fall. I have been pretty stuck on SQ1 & RobinHood the past 3-4 yrs but really loving what he has been putting out.
Just harvested my sonic boom today. Now you got me more excited

Most weed is gonna give you a unique high if its harvested a month early.
Yeah not a fan of early bud if you want more edgy type stuff grow stuff that has that high like nevils haze or something it may take ages to bloom but if thats your thing its worth it imo and bud should be ripened properly i think each to there own ig

I can see this happening. I've been pheno hunting rare Cannarado strains, and my next hunt it going to be classic strains. So eventually I will have a mix of unique and tried & true. I want to start getting into breeding soon, so there will probably be a lot of combinations of old and new in my future.

Just chopped oreoz, Chiquita banana, and cereal milk a few weeks ago, all cuts previously tested 30%+ consistently. I also ran a table of testers for DVG in there and found a genuine winner that Beats all of the “elites”

of the hype, I kept cereal milk. Kinda reminds me of a fruity gmo cross and had enough amber at 67 days to chop, so not bad. I also want to s1 the cut for archival purposes and chuck some fem crosses while I have it around.

Oreoz is a beautiful frost monster that makes nice dense buds perfect for Instagram. Smokes extremely smooth, almost too smooth. Kinda tastes like a more bland cookie. aroma is somewhere between gsc and wedding cake, but again, a more muted version. It’s getting a lot of attention because it is beautiful and easy to grow 60 days.

Chiquita banana (utopia farms cut) was supposed to be gelato 33 but clone guy had a mixup. Decided to roll with it and I’m glad I did, of the 3 clones this one yielded the highest, smoke is extremely potent and has pretty long legs. Tastes like maybe Overripe banana and turpentine.

DVG tester snowdog x purple vapor. Checks more boxes than I knew I was looking for, one of the most mouth coating lingering OG type I’ve grown from him, has beautiful calyx development, 56 days 10% amber, potency is on par with the others, dry buds have nice bag appeal. Have this one transplanted for reveg, so fingers crossed.

It’s a tough market to look outside the box as to what to grow if you’re trying to put food on the table, but almost every time I pop a pack of seeds from a breeder that is worth their salt I find things that outperform what the market calls “elite” cuts. It’s the only way to differentiate yourself from everyone else growing the same. I get the market, that’s how these ended up in my garden, but if I want high quality genetics that I like, I have to go looking myself. I’ll always have a small table running new things for this exact reason.

What are the best hyped OG's this year. I was looking at Log Cabin, which seems pretty interesting. Log Cabin = Lemon OGKB x Biker Kush

Hype stuff is hype, is usually just word of mouth or online chatter that gets some buzz going about certain cuts/flower. A lot of gear that you can find pheno hunting a few seed packs will probably be just if good if not better than say an so called elite like gelato #41. That said everything now is so crossed out with strains in seed form that are dropped and everyone is crossing this to that I doubt that even if you found a holy grail pheno of say cannarado's lemon bubblegum(GAK Lemon x bubblegum biscotti) or raw genetics Lemon cherry pie or GMO pie, I doubt these strains would be known as elites because they are far removed from the original so called elite cut the makes up that crosses genetics. I don't know if I'm explaining this correctly.

I just like hunting packs of great genetics from great breeders, if you do this and are a decent indoor grower than you'll find something better than so called "elites". If you're looking for hype strains/cuts look at snagging some legit lemon cherry gelato, RS11, or project4516 but I'd say don't chase the hype. Also for hype strain's seed packs, go for compound genetics and their collaboration with runtz, cookies and watch yourself burn a hole in your wallet. The pav'e looks fire and compounds colab with rado was pretty great with the grape gasoline line, those strains are pretty big right now.
