Next hype strain

Talk about The White!
i had a killer pheno of white fire that i killed it with for a few years. But back to pcg cuts. The Mac1. Man is it frost, color also comes through but it’s got that alien in it. Never have been a fan of the alien. but i know what you’re talking about the white. Kinda just a blah addition to allot of strains. Except when you got a good pheno of that and fire og cross :-)
I've never seen PCG sell MAC1, are you talking about the DHN cut?

I am so glad I don't grow for sale. Trying to figure out what unstable S1 or pollen chuck F1 is going to be the new hype with the zoomers sounds terrible. My favorite genetics in my collection right now is older than half the people smoking pot these days. The only hype strain in the last 5 years that I really like is Kush Mints.

Almost positive one of my buddies got the cut from elevation in Nevada City last year and it was a PCG clone drop.
I'm pretty sure that PCG has stayed true to the MAC1 rule of not selling it, since they have colabs with capulator. Cap gets his panties in a bunch big time when he sees people selling his cut. I could be wrong thos, and they may have dropped it once, I'm sure they do have the cut in their nursery.

The one cut from them that I'm looking forward to is Zev. I have Purple Kush seedlings (regs) going now, and I think Zev is the perfect donor parent to use in a PK back crossing project.

it's a very old ibl greatest hits mix of 80s strains. The father was ((Northern Lights #2 x Skunk #1) x (Shiva Skunk x Afghani)). The mother was (Pakistani Chitral x Super Skunk).
Nice. Have you seen the cut change over time?

Hype strains are lame, that's all they are, hype. Runtz was basically cookies to me with some sweeter fruit gas in it, great bag appeal and flavor, but honestly the high with any cookie hybrid is literally the same as cookies. Slurricane was literally just purple punch with more frost and some cookies in it, absolutely lame high, great flavor and bag appeal. The next hype strain is gonna be whoever markets their strain the best (bag appeal and flavor helps with that a lot), but that doesn't really reflect quality at all. Want real quality plants? Find quality breeders and stop looking for it in Cookie hybrids. Bag appeal can only get you so far. It all depends on the consumer though. My next hype strain is whatever I'm growing next, and right now I'm growing out some Bloom and Strayfox.

Idk if it counts as hype but Ive been talking to my dispensary buddies and they were saying most of the regular everyday customers want strictly "sativa" strains. I realize dispos dont run real sativas and that people are hoping to see a haze comeback but past all that I think the general market consumers are hungriest for some fresh sativa work.

I'll be honest though, I'm younger and like indicas but Ive had all of the famous ones many many times over the last years. With that said Ive never even seen or smelled real examples of even some of the most famous sativas. Haze, panama red and colombian maybe barely but never thai, vietnamese or any of the african ones. If somebody found a really good pheno amongst those I think you would have something truly exotic and hard to get and actually stand out in the market. But having never even seen those genetics I have no idea if Im right or not lol
Look into ACE if you want some good sativas. Their Golden Tiger is a cross of Thai and Malawi. I'm in the process of crossing a landrace Highland Thai with an African Malawi. But that's months away before I get any seeds and then months after that before I'll have grown any out to try.

One of the reasons you don't see many people doing crosses like that is because of the time it takes. It's much quicker and easier to just keep crossing polyhybrids which is what most are doing these days. One of the reasons most of these Hyped strains are all boilerplate with no real distinction between them other than some ridiculous name.

I look at the modern strain game and so called breeders the same way as I look at pop culture and the way people follow and rave over celebrities. People do it but I don't give a damn about any of it.

So far from this run I’m hunting now Cap’s Mac v2, and in houses jelly breath bx are my favorites. But it’s early can only real tell anything from structure and early smells. I also ended up with a nice orange mojito from sin city, very orangey terps wich I don’t like but I’m sure patients will(I just hate orange myself). I have an old bubble gum in here as well and she is chunky af and smells great, like always I’ve prob ran 30 of the seeds over the years. Patients always like her, I can’t smoke it cause i just eat til I’m bloated and sleep.

I’m in here now looking, the oreoz cross from in house is looking frosty but bud size is on small side for this far along. And as much as I like big plants these ones got a bit out of control and went 8 ft. Lol. But a few look promising.

My trop cookies from Oni smells great but both plants are on the smaller side. One is purple. Both have a tangerine smell to me.

I lost my cut of modified mints which was my favorite strain ever so far, so I’m hunting a new pack of those but so far it looks like I need to find another pack to go through, as none of these has the smell or structure I’m after so far.

I got a couple tropical torte in here from big worm as well and they are looking good, one of my favorite strains also and the packs are consistent if you can find em.

In veg

I have lit farms red velvet pancakes, red onion and cinnamon rollz,

From fresh coast seeds truffle breath, stankonya and star dust

Ethos -plant of the grapes and cherry gar see ya

Humbolt - vanilla cream

And here is a picture of the flower room, not much interesting going on for close ups yet. I don’t run trellis during pheno hunts, and some plants got quite a bit taller than expected.

Nice. Have you seen the cut change over time?
the line existed as a very small seed stock for almost 30 years. It was a project strain of the guy that taught me how to grow in the early/mid 90s. I only recently (about 3 years ago) started growing/breeding with it. What I can say is that the seed starts have been remarkably homogeneous and it's traits are nearly always dominant in the crosses I've done.

Their runtz really is the best runtz cut out as advertised. Still on the fence with the Slurty3. Mac1 frosty AF. The slurricane didn’t make the cut because not stoney enough which i knew it wouldn’t be going in.
Got a question for you. Have you tried their GrandiGuava yet? Just picked up 6 of those to try. Any other of theirs you recommend?
I got caps junky cut on the way from capotor

So far out of this room, the jelly breath bx’s and Mac v2 have stood out overall compared to the other seeds. Some sugar cane delux are really frosty but have that weird small bud structure like slurricane. I did end up with one orange mojito that smell like orange/gas. It has the pyramid type bud structure I’ve had on some Ak 47 crosses.

So far out of 60+ plants I’ve narrowed down to 10 or so that will get a second look for mothers. Can’t really tell anything for sure til the smoke is ready. I’m hoping their are at least one or two nice moms in this room. If I find a couple in here and a couple in the next run I should be set for a while.

Any guesses what will be the next hype strain. Restocking all my genetics, looking for the best seeds I can find. I am running a bunch of in house, clear water, cap, thug pug, Oni, lit farms and raw right now.

But I’m really wanting to stay ahead of the curve the market has gotten super competitive and the better more different shit you can find the better the market. I like gmo crosses but I’m kinda loaded up on those. Looking for more fruit/gas.

I’ve heard a few people saying that cherry crosses and og are making a come back this year, any truth to that?

Anyone ran relentless, bloom, jungle boys, compound, surfer?

Open to any recommendations, must have bag appeal and terps.

Peanut Butter Breath is a worthy hype strain, because it packs a friggin wallop. Not worth the price it's fetching for seeds IMO, but worth the hype and fanfare. I haven't tried any crosses yet, but soon; Pops just got some Gorilla Butter (PBB x GG4) that we're gona try.

For a while there I thought PBB was gona be the new MAC1 but i dunno, ThugPug stuff seems to get traction then not, then again then not. . .. i dunno.

New hybrids created with Durand Line Project 2020 Afghanistan selections.

Kevin Jodrey is working with Ghazni selections.
Others working with Maruf Red and Black selections.

There were 12 total and now it's all unobtanium as Afghanistan is back under control of Taliban.

Going to take a few years to work out good stuff grown for flowers but we should wind up with a new infusion of traits to the sea of poly-hybrids that take the spotlight these days.

Running Greases Pieces (GG4 x PBB) now. One pheno in early flower & other two in veg. My #3 looks like OGKB leaner, smells minty menthol sweet dessert in stem rubs. Anxious to see how they turn out so I can hit them to Animal Mints BX male. I'm more hyped about my chuck than buying more seeds. Thugs older gear comes back & goes like you said. Surprised not more MeatBreath stuff out.

PBB is old news by now. It placed in a cup like 4 years ago, so it would have popped more by now, if it was gonna pop.
