Newspaper article from a UK paper that just shows ignorance is still rife

Well for any non-brits, the majority on here im assuming, this newspaper is generally considered toilet roll by most people. They hate immigrants and generally anything liberal.

I read an article on Paul McCartney giving up cannabis the other day. I was happy because he portrayed it in a pretty positive light, saying it was hard to quit because it was such good stuff lol or something like that. Basically saying he only gave up because of his kids, which is fine.

Sadly this newspaper has taken it upon itself to attack a man who's a musical legend and thought of by a lot as a national treasure, because he didnt give up sooner.

Normally I wouldn't grace the website with a hit, but I was so angry by the fucking untruths I had to show you all. It's fine to hate marijuana but please stop with this gateway theory bullshit...

If it helps the PCC have already been issued with a complaint from Peter Reynolds about it.

yeah, he sees the Daily Mail as one of the biggest prohibitionists in the UK and reports every lie they write, he goes toe to toe with one of their reporters a Peter Hitchens an awful lot.
Unfortunatly the PCC usually go out of there way to defend the DM despite them clearly breaking the Editorial Code. However as his position is leader of a UK political party he has submitted a very large file to the Leveson enquiry showing the situation he has had to deal with, with numerous examples of the lies printed and the science debunking those lies.

Thats interesting. I did in fact look it up after I read your comment and see a lot of complaints, 40 this year 16 of which are daily mail I think. The fact it's been submitted to Leveson is really good as well. I hope it adds to the proof that the PCC is somewhat ineffective. I see most if not all the articles have been deemed not in breach which was no surprise. I also saw that an editor of the DM is on the PCC panel which disturbed some people. I know more about peters brother Christopher and his work. Christopher was an avid drunk and quite bullish in his stands. Seems peter shares common traits. I do/did think that some particular lines in the McCartney article were definitely in breach though. Id be very surprised if it was ruled not. Do you have any info regarding that article or is it still being investigated? And I can't say that I agree with reporting as many articles as possible if we're facing a stone wall. It probably looks a little petty and incites scoffing if it's too frequent, even if it is justifiable

Sorry I don't have any update to the complaint, and I have to agree Peter can be, how shall I say it. A bit abrupt at times. But I understand his view that he is in a gloves off fight against the prohibitionists and can understand his at times aggressive approach to his campaign. It will be interesting to see how the leveson enquiry respond to his submission though as he has spoken to them and it was at their request I believe that he submitted his collection of complaints to official bodies and the responses of the PCC in particular. It annoys me how often the PCC respond saying that its just the Daily Mails opinion and they are not stating fact, when a headline clearly says SKUNK KILLED SO AND SO, then you look at the article and the coroner says something completely different caused the death I don't know how they continue to get away with it, well I do its corruption plain and simple!
