Damn im hoping my kushberry doesn't get fucked over by rot this weekend :S it probably will with this heavy rain coming. I cant pull her until the weekend after this one because were gonna have people working on our house and the drying is gonna be a problem with smell. Oh well i'll just try shake her off after the rain and keep a close eye on her. fingers crossed ><
Lookin forward to seeing some budshots. I'm a couple weeks into flowering that strain indoors along with a few others.

I always spray my babes with Neem Oil b4 a rain storm for this very reason, the oil don't allow the rain to penetrate to any degree, also great against mold, is organic too

Lol the storms hitting NZ alright mate. That's the big yielding Panama pink.

Wonder how everyone's plants will handle this weather. They can't handle people making money with no tax spazatak

This is the reason I don't grow indicas that past mid march. Panama and Malawi will be fine with rain, the need a good soaking too.

Hmm I do have some of that, but im thinking its not a good idea to do it this close before harvest

around half a small shopping bag of trim. hard drying when it's 85% humidity

You're mornings look cold on metservice, looks like some good frosts this year. I wonder if we'll get any this year. I just got a quarter this afternoon to smoke with the hash and looks like a big airy indoor nug. Yeah those strains are pretty common through NZ or well spread, a nice rhino is always good.

Yeah organics can get expensive if you don't make/collect it yourself. Those 10lb plants are cool, good to know I'm growing his favourite.
You can use it in conjunction to their grow bloom for teas at beginning of flower but I'm gonna add it into the soil soon, it'l be good for the taskentis last 3 weeks.
It's not always the NPK rating to worry about but where the nutrients came from, organically or not. 2.5 kgs cost $18US. try to get something organic to finish it off for better taste.

I reckon weed's stronger outdoors than indoors because of the spectrum of the sun. Outdoor Afghani was stronger than indoors, it's like the sun brings out a tripping effect compared to the numb high of indoor.
Glasshouse grown stuff would beat anything in potency and taste; indoors conditions with the spectrum of the sun is the ultimate envirionment imo.
once you smoke properly grown outdoors you'll never look back, NZ outdoor is considered some of the best in the world at it;s highest quality.

I'm thinking the Panama is going to be the nicest smoke outdoors that ive tried.
Wow CK amazing plants bro! That Panama makes me drool, its already sooo forsty lol So the Malawi are flowering now right? I can see all your 18 pics they came out for me. Ill chuck a big update up on Monday :-)

Yeah mornings arent to bad, theyve been around 7 - 10 but picked up to 10 - 12 now. Well get frosts down here we always to but not this early, certainly latter in the season though. Common as strains the old white rhino and white widow and all that ae? I wanna grow some original Acapulco gold one day, first major hybrid?

Sure are expensive ae but worth it in the long term. How much will those Panama yeild each? Looks like youl get heaps! Might head to garden barn next week and try to find something organic higher in P and K. Is P good for finishing of? Seen a few caterpillars on my plant so I just killed them while I was chopping the balls of. Nice hash bro Im missing out.... Never had hash.

Id have to agree with weed being stronger outdoors, that makes sense because its evolved for the full spectrum of the sun. Looks defiantly aren't anything Ive defiantly had avergae looking weed that's got me alot more whacked then some of the frosty indoors. Just goes back to the old saying don't judge a book by its cover :-) Yea Ived heard NZ outdoor weed is considered some of the best in the world. Must have pretty good sun shine over here hahah

Hope you guys go all right with the rain up there, I think well only get the side of it down here and it shouldn't be to humid and wet so I shouldn't get any budrot down here with my plant. Sativa dom so should be algood, its mostly the wind ive gotta watch out for. Goodluck guys whens the storm due? Also I got my 420 scope today so Ill chuck some pictures up latter.

Re: NZ's Highly regarded outdoor

Maybe it's the hole in the ozone layer? I understand that we get a ton more UV than the northern hemisphere - and lots more than close neighbours in the Pacific like the Cook Is. My family based in the Islands are always careful about sunburn when they come over

Cancer Society pdf said:
On average, there is about seven percent less protective ozone over New Zealand than at corresponding northern latitudes. Overall, peak UVR levels in the New Zealand summer, as measured by the Ultraviolet Index (UVI), are about 40% more than at corresponding latitudes in the Northern Hemisphere. There has also been a 10% decrease in ozone over New Zealand since the 1970s.

Hmmmm. 40% more exposure?
CannaNerds are always raving about high grown varieties in the Pakistani-Hindu region - some claim because of the high UV exposure at altitude the plant are especially wonderful.

World Health Organisation said:
With increasing altitude less atmosphere is available to absorb UV radiation. With every 1000 m in altitude, UV levels increase by approximately 10 per cent.

I'm not sure how UV expposure changes with latitude in NZ, but back of envelope calculation assuming CancerSoc's "40% more UV" was accurate we're essentially growing in NZ at sea level with the same UV exposure as someone in the Northern Hemisphere growing at 3000 metres - high enough to cause altitude sickness. To find plants with greater levels of exposure to UV in the northern hemisphere you'd need to find a grow op run by Nepalese Sherpa.

Take it with a pinch of salt...

NZ sun is far more intense than overseas, a legit 25 degree day feels like a 30+ day in say egypt or Mediterranean.
I think the plants pump out more resin due to the intensity of of the sun as a defence mechanism, need to protect those pistils so they can be pollinated.

Tauranga has some of the worst skin cancer in NZ. Even in winter when the sun is shining it can still be hot.
I'm getting about 7-9 uv index ratings at the moment which is fairly high for march.

massive wind and rain here.. my baby is still ok lol i was worried all night about the wind but its still standing. shook off the water but its getting loads more anyway. might do it again whenever the rain stops (if it does) also hoping the wind doesn't get stronger!

all that extra uv must expalin why all you kiwis are mad as cut snakes, been left in the oven too long hahahhaha.

nah it totally makes sense i know bodhi grows all his landrace sativas under MH lights instead of HPS lights because MH packs more UV

Thanks man, the pink Panama makes me drool too especially when you put you nose up to it. This is the nicest looking/smelling strain I've grown, the pink big bud pheno is the frosty and faster one. Malawis are flowering alright, check the latest pics to see the pistils pouring out. keen to see your plant too.

Yeah my mornings are warm again at around 13-16. We can get some good frosts too but I haven't seen a proper one in years, like crunching ice on the ground or a thick layer of ice on the car windscreen lol. Must be warmer up in the valleys. Yeah skunk#1,rhino,widow,ak,northern lights, jack herer are all common NZ cuts, sometimes a bit of blueberry.

Yeah it's expensive if you buy it all, I'm trying to be more organic these days. Panamas won't yield much being stunted from the vine hoppers, still get some out of this world smoke. I'll be happy with 5 premium Panama oz's plus I get to try 3 different phenos, I'm gonna have to pollinate the big pinky with some Malawi pollen. Yeah get some organic shit high in phosphorus, basically 0 N and a bit of potassium. Your plant won't need any N for the last 3 weeks.

Looks is just cosmetic, all that landrace sativa looks leafy and low quality most of the time but will kick your ass harder than indoors. We can produce weed on the same level as Hawaii,Jamaica or any other volcanic Islands. Volcanic regions + intense uv = magical shit! tenacious d sang a song about how good our weed was lol.

It's hitting now with some strong winds but metservice reckons there will be 100 km gusts today! I'm more worried about wind than rain and I know Malawis will be sweet as. Just the Panama that I'm worried for because they;re not the strongest looking plants.

any of you new Zealanders.. have a clue what the hell New Zealand Skunk is? lineage wise? or ???
Skunk#1? probably just a made up name from a grower that grows an indica based strain. there's no official NZ skunk from any breeders.
Hope that helped.

High winds is goodish for you man, it'l help prevent mold as it'll blow moisture out but I aint keen on these 100km gusts! the max gust I've got is 59kmh and it was pretty strong.

either that or because of meth lol this country is bad as for p in the last 15 years.

Yeah MH kicks ass, I like looking at buds under a MH instead of HPS.

Nice. I heard it's a pretty low yeilder which is why i only have one of them going but the smoke is top notch.

I'll post some pics of the indoor buds when it's done, see how they compare
Sounds good, yeah the buds do seem small but I think they will be really dense and potent :)

Yeah skunk #1. Part of the reason NZ is well known for its outdoors imo. Was under the impression this was from back in the late '80's that it was highly regarded rather than now.
