That would be an excellent test to try...I would like to hear your findings!! There is some great material in there from Vic High on methods to finding a TRUE XX female...it requires growing out a good amount of seed but once you find her...skys the limit for a breeder or breeding program plus clones....its a great read..I want to create a new space in my grow area to try to find a true XX Female.
Saw that in my initial quick skim of it, looks quite interesting. As for the testing, will definitely do so. I wish I had my hands on the new LED that's in beta that they're offering 50% off if you want to be a beta tester.. I could program the LEDs to auto-switch the 18/6 6/18 red/blue blue/red automagically with a computer and their software.

looks like you have a half decent grow tent going there, I'm a noob still (in my mind at least) so take my advice or not, the advice I give is mostly what has been given to me here. Keep that MG down to a bare minimum and transplant into a lighter non treated organic soil mix like Fox Farms Ocean forest potting soil. No need for nutes, its got all kinds of great material in it, bat guano, worm castings, etc just transplant (after you have a good root ball) and bury that root ball up to the little bitty leaves (the ones that don't have the serrated edges) and spray lightly and mist the leaves a bit (plain ph'd water). If they've been under lights 24/7 I would consider leaving them as such for at least a day or so till you are out of the woods on transplant shock. Me myself, I sprinkled some highly diluted Fox farms Big bloom on mine after transplanting to help avoid shock at the advice of another member at RIU. BTW, this is year 3 for me, still learning, check out my set up if you like, not as sophisticated as many here but hey, it works for me. I am just waiting on a desk fan and mylar to finish it off. Good luck on your grow and keep on toking!
Yeah I did the transplant. See 2nd page! :) And thanks!

WOW, how long did it take you to type all that and change colors so many times? LOL
Get a circ. fan, more CFL's if that is what you're vegging with, maybe a 5000k and a 2700k.
I mixed 5000k and 2700k for my veg, and liked how it did.
Blue Solo cups work better.
**Nice details and info!**
LOL as you can see in the parenthesis, I stole the whole template from another site, so in all reality it didn't take long just copy and paste. The answers I did myself of course. Just thought people on every site would like to know deep down info like that. It saves a lot of questions in my opinion. And yes I plan on getting new bulbs for veg and flower and also a small fan.

Thank you all so much on your constructive comments so far. The journey has already been fun!

http://www.homegrownlights.com/300W.html Normally 1300, if you decide to get into their 'beta test', I believe it's 600 or 700.. so more than 50% savings on it... that said, it says:

Features:

• 84 OSRAM 660nm high power LEDs
• 24 CREE XT-E 450nm high power LEDs
• 12 CREE XT-E Warm White high power LEDs
• 350W nominal LED power delivery
• 420W maximum power consumption
• Patent Pending Computerized Control changes light spectrum
• Integrated power supply; requires no “ballast”
• Replaces 800-1000W HID light, giving 80% power savings
• Covers approximately 30 square feet (60" x 60")
• 50,000+ hour LED life**
• Proudly Made in the USA!

Would definitely give it a whirl if I had the spare cash to just experiment with a light system.

Ya...thats a great deal. Allot of benies to this set up...Replaces a 1000 HID at 80% savings and would drastically lower your heat temps....this set up is a game changer....and right now the price is right...put it on the wish list...I cant afford it now....but at the same time...my power bill is kicking my ass with those HID's so its a damed if you do and damed if you dont!!

Agreed on all counts.. check out how easy the software appears to be to navigate too.. appears to be .. select a date, adjust colors, and times.. ta-dah, done. I also believe it has a 60 day schedule so you can set up to 60 days at once, and let it go, altering the settings all the time.. and you can also export your settings to share with other growers using it!

I don't need to invest in a Ferrari when a Honda will get me from point A to point B just as efficiently. Maybe not cool and not as fast, but that's why speed limits exist. It's the same concept. I have seen many other threads where people have had just as much yield and "beauty" from their closet CFL grows as they've had with their medicinal grows. Doing it the cost efficient way isn't always the bad way if you take the time to learn along the way. That is why I am posting here. To see what others have to say. I take heed of your warnings, but someone else can come on here and post how I'm doing ok for a first time grow and that would be their opinion. Just like you are entitled to yours. Thank you for the advice, but tons of people have squashed the "spend more money, grow better weed" myth. There was a time when no one even believed you can grow a marijuana plant with CFL's. They were all wrong.
Yes you can grow plants with cfls. You can also bust a nut by jerking off but I prefer to have a pussy to make it BETTER.

Not 100$ true.. the main key is the genetics..
Who told you that? If that was the case we wouldnt need to answer stupid questions over and over again we could just say buy decent gentics and watch em grow. The ignorance of these people is killing me. Furthur more if its all about genetics how come we have threads asking whats the worst seeds you have grown and we have people shitting on some of the best genetics in the world. BECAUSE YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO GROW A PLANT OR IT WILL DIE!! Boy I would hate to get 1000 feet up in a hot air baloon and then have the guy asking questions about how to fly a baloon on blowitup.org.

Have to agree on this point, while genetics are important.. you could have a plant that has the drought tolerance of a saguaro cactus and someone could still underwater, and kill it. No genetics in the world will save a plant from someone who has no idea what they're doing, hasn't bothered to read, and hasn't learned at least a few horticultural skills.

And it gets even better.... We still have people that believe the bullshit LED companies are trying to sell? A 420w LED couldnt wipe a 1k hps's ass let alone replace it.

Not a matter of believing, as much as I could entertain the concept if I could get a free unit to do my own beta test, or get test reports from others on the forum who are in their beta.

Hows this for a test? Open any issue of High Times and show me one well know grower or breeder that is using an LED.

I can't think of any, or remember reading about any.. just figured that it may be that the technology may not be advanced enough and have years of solid testing to make it a worthwhile investment vs the tried and true methods of MH/HPS.

The technology has been proven for years. LEDs make awesome flashlights and DVD player buttons.

That phytochron is the shit, but you should peep what inda gro is doing with their pontoons, pricey but splifferous is having a good enough run with them that he just ordered another and has plans to order a 3rd... some serious coin for some serious tech, true light spectrum:daytime programming is the future of lighting mark my words... And those plants don't look scary yet, just flush em maybe or wait it out, dollars to doughnuts its the mg soil being a wee bit too hot for seedlings.

And for the guy bashing leds, check subcools tlo book, he has a pic of led with a caption saying he likes the spectrum.. Remove foot then speak... because high times is the end all be all of cannabis literature. not a bad read, I grab it every month, but have skunk to be more informative at times, HT also does a good job of only pushing products they are paid too... not what works

Sub says he likes the spectrum? Who cares? Ask ole Subcool what he grows with. You sound wayyyyy less intelligent trying to defend LEDs over real grow lights. EVERYBODY in the industry says they dont have the intensity to be a viable option for flowering except the people that sell em.
