New to Hydroponic Growing

I am purchasing ten seeds and i just bought a hydroponic set up that has 6 spaces in it. When I begin to grow I want to get the males into a soil pot along with one female for breeeding. I am wondering if its better to just clone a male and destroy the original or try to transplant it. As for the female I was planning on cloning it into a soil pot. As for the empty spaces I was thinking of either putting a cloned female in there or from the beginning just plant 2 seeds in a space and then transplant them to the empty space. For all of those who understood my weird wording/scenario, may i have some advice before i begin?

I would start all of the seeds in a 60/40 mix of soil and perlite in seperate containers. Grow em up...root some clones from each of them (in an aeroponic unit or in rapidrooters or rockwool cubes) and then sex the original seed plants.

Weed out all the males but the one with the best structure/health and either collect the pollen for later...or isolate him with a nice looking female. Just realize that you may end up with thousands of seeds if you pollenate the entire plant. If you don't want that many..look into info on how to pollenate only one branch/top.

You should end up with 6 female clones or more...and then you can weed through those for the best ones...or fill the hydro unit and stick a few in soil off to the side for the duration.

did I answer your questions/help? I think I need another joint to fully process all of this! LOL.

good luck

Thanks, I had one idea, that I would start them in the system, and as I find a male,I would clone him into a soil mixture and then destroy the original, as well as clone a female into another pot, I would like as many seeds as possible, as for the empty spaces I'd create, I'd then clone some females and fill them.

The only problem I see with that, is how would I get the mothers to bud while growing clones cause I only have one light.

Mothers do not bud. They are kept in veg constantly to produce more cuts for future runs. The only time you flower a mom is when she's old and tired and you need to replace her.

You really want to fill your hydro gig with FEMALES..not males. It's also very tricky to start seeds right in the hydro unit. You will have to hand water it until the roots are sufficient for the hydro unit to take over.... just as you would in soil.

I would still follow the plan I spelled out above. It's counterproductive to have males in a hydro unit meant to grow bud...and it makes no sense to me to grow a male there and then clone it into soil when the ultimate end is to get those females into the hydro unit and get em jammin.

So then to simplify what you said. I should start them in 60% soil and 40% perlite mix grow them and then put the female clones in the hydro unit? Is it possible to get 6 clones off one mother? cause I'm strapped for space

One follow up question, how big of pots do you think i should have?
