New indoor grower-need help with seed selection please :)

So here in Michigan we will be legal for recreational use in a few days. I'm not new to growing but new to growing indoors. I've always gotten my seeds from a buddy of mine who is an old school grower and just has the same skunk seeds he's been using for years. Since I'm able to grow legally I'm going to give it a go with an indoor grow of 6 plants or so this winter time that I want to basically start right now.

I'm looking for two strains to grow. Basically a pick me up and a bring me down. There's so many different places to buy these and so many different strains, I don't even know where to start. I really haven't had much experience with different strains and have always smoked this same old school skunk weed for years and ready for the latest and greatest.

Couple of things. I do not want an autoflower as I'm new to indoor growing and want to go through the learning phases before I try the difficult stuff. Also, I'll probably want to grow the same strains outdoors when I can so the autoflower won't work. Looking for seeds from a supplier that has a good reputation and is reliable. That supplier has to be in the US as I don't want to deal with waiting forever to get my seeds overseas. Feminized seeds would also be prefered but would like the option to get some males in the future so if I like the strain, I could get my own seeds. Have never cloned before so I prefer to start from seeds, especially if I try and grow the same strains outdoors. I want to start these now so time is of the essence.

For the pick me up strain, I want something that gives you a little get up and go. Something that doesn't cloud the mind up. This will more likely be used in daytime hours as a boost me up or at night to have some fun. I don't drink much these days so this is my party fix. Not looking for anything crazy, just a little punch. Not something that gets you stoned out of your mind as I'm a lightweight.

The bring me down strain will be mostly used at night and to relax. I own my own business and sometimes have a problem at night unwinding. Also have some back issues that flare up from time to time. I've always had problems sleeping and would be great to find something that could help. I've also got a buddy that has some medical issues that has a prescription for medical use. Problem is he doesn't have insurance so it's rather expensive for him to purchase. Maybe this same strain could be a little higher in cbd and could be used for his conditions also.

Anyways, I'm obviously a newb at all this and could use some advice. Sorry if some of this stuff sounds kind of stupid for you expert growers. Just looking for some advice from the pros. Thanks in advance.

Looking for actual supplier. Doubt I'll get clones shipped. We are legal here in Michigan in a few days though. Prefer seeds.

I suck at soil, so.
For a grow or two, keep it simple.
Some sort of Pro grade potting soil, don't go crazy with the nutes.
Lots of light
Lots of air circulation
Lots of ventilation & odour control.

Have fun

Genotype A2 in Ann Arbor is very reputable. Many other sources as well.

If you prefer growing out 50-100 seeds, 6 at a time, looking for good plants I guess more power to ya. You're wasting time and money growing seeds in a legal market. You'll spend less on clones than you will seeds and you're sure as hell gonna spend years looking for plants if you're following the rules.

Well we’re going to be legal in a few days. Going to take awhile I’m sure for plants to be available.

It is hard to find something that will perform great both indoor and out, my advice is to treat them as two separate things and look for plants to fill certain rolls. Many of the plants that are great indoor, do not finish in time in northern climates outdoor. I am not saying its impossible that something that grows well indoor will also grow and finish well outdoors, but in northern climates it can be a struggle with out a fully tricked out greenhouse.

I would recommend Cannaventureseeds.com for fem seeds. There is a thread on Cannaventure seeds in this sub forum that you can check out for some pics and reports, normally its on the first page. Another safe bet is Usefull seeds, They can be found on jbcseeds.com and at a few other banks. There is also a thread for his seeds, again normally on the first page of this sub forum.

Last piece of advice, keep it as simple as you can for your first foray into indoor. A simple water only organic soil grow is my suggestion, save the bottles of additives and what not for down the road if you feel you need to add more. A huge portion of indoor plant problems are caused by overdoing it. Keep it simple and it will save you some headaches.

Good luck and have fun!

Personally i like 2 strains so you have both effects. An indica heavy and a sativa heavy.

My favorite sativa heavy easier to grow strains are probably train wreck and jack herer. Pretty quick at 10 weeks max flower for both. If Jack is too weird (skunk in the face) then train wreck is better (less skunk more fruit loops).

Pick a 50 50 to 60 40 40 60 sativa indica for your indica side of things

Lots available. I love king tut but search around. Good luck and happy growing

Wait.. wait.. wait....

You said skunk seeds?

Real skunk or the new age "skunk" that smells like freaking floral arrangements and candy?

I don’t think I’ve seen any clones in Michigan advertised. I mean it’s not even legal yet so I doubt it would be for sale. If you have a place to point me please do so.

Yes old school skunk weed. Guy I know has been growing the same strain outdoors in the north for 30 years. Just pollinates a branch or two every once in awhile when he gets low on seeds.

Yeah I’m going to start simple when I start indoors. Going to grow some of the seeds that we’ve been using outdoors but I definitely want to try two new strains. I’m going to go for 6 plants total.

I’m hoping to get some solid suppliers and strains to buy soon. Want to get the ball rolling. Keep them coming with specifics. Rather get a recommendation from an actual grower than a supplier.

Doesn't get any easier than Auto's....in or outdoors. Sprout and plant in final container. No training...just let it rip. Check out Mephisto Genetics. Best auto's by far imo. You will get a quicker turn around which will help you get your system dialed.

And you have access to seeds? You may not realize, but real skunk is one of the most looked for genetics.
You can get rich from it.

I would suggest taking a handful of those seeds to Great Lake Genetics and talk to Bad Dawg and see where it goes from there.

I'm not doing autos. Baby steps for now. It's skunk weed and the same stuff he's been growing for almost 30 years. I'm sure it's not some special expensive strain. Just an old school skunk weed that he grows outdoors in the north. I don't think it's anything special so I wouldn't get too excited. I don't know anyone with a medical card as far as I know.

Just from some research I have been doing for indicas, I have come up with a few I want to try. I have not grown these out myself but would give you an idea.
Bodhi - Drunken Parrot = NL5 x Snowlotus
TH Seeds - Darkstar or Critical HOG
I would also try Cannaventure, I have a shipment coming from them in a few days. I bought from him because of the Customer Service he provided me before I even made my first order.
Great Lakes Genetics is awesome also and in your state.
