Hi All.
I'm a long time smoker and enjoy high quality bud! unfortunately for me that's very hard to come by and also very expensive.
so, I'm looking to set up and grow 4-6 plants for myself:-)
first problem is important slightly overwhelmed with all the options I have and have tried researching as much as I can!
Any advice anyone can give would be amazing.
I'm looking for a good set up to grow high quality bud, but want to keep the cost as low as possible! I have seen some high quality tents but not sure on lights etc.
I only want to grow around 4-6 plants but really striving for the dank.

any suggestions on older posts giving the same advice would be cool.

Cheers

so many factors to account for Dank....

space?
stealth?
tent?
room?
soil?
hydro?

I'm in the middle of my first grow. I went the semi cheap way. 2 viparspectra 600w LED's ($170 each) a 2x4x5 grow tent ($89) 6" carbon filter and fan combo ($100) fabric pots ($15) light timer ($13) 2 fans @ $13 each. Temp/humidity monitor ($18) Fox Farms trio of nutes ($38) Fox farm ocean forest soil @$14 per bag, needed 3 bags total for my 4 plants in 5 gal pots.

So my setup ran me about $600ish give or take... I think my 4 girls should yield me plenty of smoke to justify the cost... obviously my next grows will cost me WAYYY less... basically just soil and seeds/clones. First grow $800 all in, second grow $100 all in.

Your best bet if you have some keesh to burn would be to get some timber cobs... I regret not just getting those off the bat. I'm not disappointed with my viparspectras but have heard the COBs are just so much better...

Here is a pic of my tent 3 weeks into flower under 2 600w viparspectras. Like I said this is my first grow but they are looking quite happy and full20170709_120205.jpg

ViparSpectra do grow pretty well ... For what they are. I moved on to COBs and Quantum but still have a 600 that STILL use.

Check EBay / Amazon ....
If you have the space grab. 3x3 tent to get your feet wet. I purchased one from Amazon for like $60 and have been growing with it for 5 years. Look for tents with METAL POLES , some real cheap ass crap tents will have plastic - AVOID THESE. You need the metal for strength and for good light support.

You do not need anything to fancy. Most makers use thick CORDURA ( canvas ) material with thick Zippers. You want good construction to keep it dark ( light leaks ) when lights go out.

Seeds ? ... Do you have some good strains to start or are you going with Bagseed ?

Start with soil ... Get a bag of good planting soil - PROMIX - SUNSHINE -
DR.EARTH ( I love this stuff / Home Depot ) - FFOF - Happy Frog

This important to gave a good medium ( soil ) .... All of the above will feed young plants for weeks upfront without Nutes. Buy a simple 2 part grow and feed for growing.
Forget AN or any other expensive multi bottle line. As you gain more experience , then you can try more complicated Nute lines.

My recommendations:
1. GH Maxigro and MaxiBloom - ( powder bags ) Amazon ...
Hands down the easiest and MOST trouble free Nutes I have ever used.

2. DYNAGRO ( grow and bloom ) - 2 part nute
Super easy to use and great plants. These are great Nutes for SOIL and HYDRO ( if you go that way later ).

3. DR. EARTH -
Liquid Seaweed
Liquid Solution ( 3/3/3 )
FlowerGirl ( bloom )
Inexpensive line , great results ( Home Depot / Amazon ) Plants really like this stuff.

Keep it simple -

This. Listen to this brother even though his death mask still creeps me out a little. He knows his stuff especially his QB boards. Good advice.

Hi all.

thanks for the replies, really appreciate it!
so firstly I live in the UK so there needs to be an element of stealth although it will be in the loft.
main worries are noise levels and heat.
I'm looking to grow in a tent and was thinking about hydro using netted pots as I have read these give the very results. although I am open to suggestions on this.
like I say, I live in the UK, are the lights and tents suggested available to deliver to UK?

thanks again all.

both your plants look amazing by the way!

been looking at the viparspectra lights and they get great reviews and a great price.
so if I was looking at 2m squared how powerful should the lights be?

thanks again!

...smoking on some blueberry Headband at the moment, Dank!

Depends on how many you plan on growing... you could get 6 monsters in there easily. SCROG em... and pull some serious weight. Obviously the more light the better... 6 COBs in there would dominate. If I was to do a 2m squared or a 6ftx6ft I'd do at least 2 600watt at a min.
