New Beginnings for Massachussetts and I

My new seedlings are retarded by a couple days. Not sure if it is nutes or light it is needing. I lowered the 148w cob lights to about 18". Still under 30k lux.

Since my seedlings are a light side of green they will get a nute raise on Tuesday, Their next water to runoff day.

Looks like it's going to be 500-600g for my whole first run.

First 2 months@ 1000w hid . Last 7 weeks at 480w cobs. A bit under 1w-1g. I will do better next time.

My new seedlings will only be three weeks old by the time they hit the flower tent. I was going to mainline them but I've decided to grow them as fast as possible without any high stress training. Since the next batch will only be 3 weeks behind I will do a lot of high stress training on them to try to slow them down.
How do you like the cob leds so far? I'm very interested in buying one. As I am extremely happy with my 600w led for veg so far but I feel it will be insufficient for flower.

I don't have a lot of basis for comparison, but I think the COB fixture I built is creating a "bigly" good environment for the plants.
Whose light do you have for veg? Is it 600w at the wall or just rated as a 600w hid replacement?
If you give us your tent specs I can suggest what you might consider for a flower light. As a rule of thumb with hps for flower, I would need at least a 1000w hps for this tent with the attendant heat issues. This fixture with 16 50w COBS pulls 800w at the wall with 56% efficiency and generates very little heat relative to the hps bulbs. With nothing but the filtered exhaust fan the tent stays between 75-80F during the "day".

Here's a shot of my fixture in a 5x5 flower tent

I have a meizhi 600w it pulls 270 from the wall it's a cheaper led like 150 bucks cheap but getting great results. I'm growing in a 4×3 closet. I stay around 70 with 65rh with my humidifier I have in there. I plan to flower 2 -3 plants in there at some point. Right now got 5 from seed n the closet till transplant outside.

Are you interested in building something or just fully configured lights?

Timber grow lights is a good option if you want to go cobs and don't want to think or work too hard.

But if cost is your issue, you can find used HPS hoods, bulbs and ballasts on craigslist for a song and maybe a little bud. People are having trouble giving them away. They certainly work, but create a lot of heat and you need more watts to run them at an equiv photon density. You could look for 8-12 bulb t5 fixtures also.

My cost I'd say no more than 350. I can't do hps cuz of heat issues n venting. T5 fixtures are a bit big for my closet. I was originally using cfl spirals before I got the MEIZHI 600 reflector led. I'm gonna stay with led. I'll look into timber lights. Thanks for the info

At your price point for pre-built you will probably have to stay with UFO blurples like the one you already have ... just with a higher wattage and footprint. Another option could be a cmh light, but that might cause a heat issue. You could actually go with T5 fixtures if you used a pair of 2ft 4 bulb fixtures with the hortilux bulbs configured for flower

Chopped my last auto today. 110 days from Germ. Another 3 coat hangers full of Bud. Only took me 3 hours to trim up. I am so glad I am harvesting 1 or 2 plants at a time.

Unfortunately, since this is my first grow, I have nothing to compare it with. My electricity bill loves them. My buds have Frosty crystals all over them. Right now I'm running 8 cobs in my flowering tent. I think the spectrum is amazing on these 3000k citizen Gen 6 1818's. I am getting about 700 ppfd in A 4x4 area for 480w. That's way more light then I need for my medical needs.

Here is a pic of my last plant in her 10 gal pot. It was flowered almost entirely under my cobs. Week 9 of flower. She is currently drying out before I put her into pre-chop darkness. I made nearly every classic newbie mistake and they still out produced my expectations.

About $400 and you can build your own 300watt 2.1amp cree cxb 3590 3500k, all you really need is to buy a 120volt plug for the driver and a little bit of 18awg solid core copper wire, and angled aluminum or any kinda of framing you want, should be able to get most of that space with 4 chips, probably be able to do a 2x4 easy, 3x4 would be pushin it, can buy all cobs, driver, reflectors and thermal pads from rapidled

You could get a couple of these to supplement or replace your LED. One or 2 on either side of your light at an angle. Killin it!
