lumens dont add up. you are spreading up to 2700 lumens over a wider area.

There are several good stickied threads up on light on one forum or another.

right on, in your opinion if you were to use t8's like me for veg, would you keep that amount of em in there, it does cover the closet pretty symetrically, thats the only thing thats nice, wherever you put a plant in the closet, it will still get the same light, ... so what do you think ?

As long as you are not worried about the electric usage and the temps are good then I think you can keep it like that.

they do add up but as they get further away from light source the disapation is exponetial

so at distance of 6" from source u get most of it - but 24" away u not getting as much as a 1/4 of luminnes u might expect - there is a calculation i forgot where to find it

basically for veg a couple of 28 - 40w flourencants should veg about 15 - 20 plants no probs for 1st 2 - 3 weeks imo

then switch to hps or your led equivelant imo 600w hps does about 10 - 15 plants

its wierd though, i had a veg box i made that would only hold 3 of the lights, but ill tell ya one observation that is undoubtedly apparent, in the veg box you turn one light on, it gets bright, turn another one on its is even brighter (to the human eye) , then when i turned on the 3'rd in the box it was even brighter to my eye, so i just dont fuckin know at this point

I am not really interested in having this argument again...

yea man, i have read that thread, some of it i couldnt grasp fully, a wee bit over my head with all the factors and equations and such, i was just lookin for a dumbed down answer, now i go tyou saying it dont , but others saying it does, i was also just thinking about the 4 bulb ho t5 fixtures, each ho bulb is like what, 7000 lumens or so , so why are people selling them saying that the fixture gives out 40k lumens or so, it seems to me they are adding up each individual bulb and getting the amount of lumens... hmmmm

and please NLXSK1 , don't come on my threads with a godly persona that you know all, i don't like those qualities in people and i would much rather not have to read negativity that stems from one's pride, let it go, go smoke one.... but i appreciate you trying to point me out to that thread, about lumens lux , i just wanted other people's views. maybe thats just how you are, but you come off as an arrogant prick sometimes

yea the more you add the greater the lumens in your grow area. Lumens do add up :leaf:

it does add all up but will vary when getting further away from the plant consider getting a light tester they are cheep and they show you the amount of lumens and the amount of change there is when the lite has a differet length between the plant
