Need input on recent phenomenon

Good day RIU -

So I was doing a little pruning of dead fan leaves here in the last week of the run and I noticed something I wanted to run past the crew here.

I was picking out the completely dead fan leaves and had a handful that were laying on top of buds that were below it before it died and had somewhat encased the top portion of the lower bud - kind of like the bud had a baseball cap on. Much to my surprise when I pulled the dead leaves from atop the buds with the "baseball cap" dead leaves on them, they had substantially more trich's then their neighboring buds from the same plant at the same height.

Has anyone else ever noticed this before? If so, any ideas why those particular buds would trich up so hard?

EDIT: One other thing I noticed about the buds that were being covered by the dead leaves...their coloration was off a bit too. A much lighter green then neighboring buds, almost looked light bleached...along with double the trichs.

After taking some photo's and doing a thorough comparison, I think it was the difference in color that may have given the illusion of more resin.....I actually don't think there was much resin difference now. God damn-it....thought I might have been on to something there.....

You should have stopped at the "baseball cap" part. Guys would be on here soon advising how to increase THC with little hats for buds.

Pics or it never happened.

I like to stick the football helmets from the quarter machine on all my buds. I think it really helps with my plants ego

Its been 2 days so it looks like the color is coming back. It was originally really white when I took the dead leaf/ballcap off of her.

I was actually wondering if the leaf was shading the bud from the light and allowing the UV to pass through. That was my original thought. And then the mind started racing wondering if maybe collard greens or turnip greens draped over the tall colas might have some profound effect on resin production.....

Then reality set in......and the buzz wore off.

I've noticed when I trim my chopped plants the lower buds that don't get much light are lighter in color which indicates a lack of dark green color (doh!). The trichs seem to show up more with the light background. Could this be the case?

I've noticed sometimes when pistols get wet (might only be cold water) they start to die off quickly after that, and that particular bud finishes quicker than the rest. Maybe the leaves on top of it added some extra moisture and caused this.
