NEED HELP WITH SOIL

completely new to growing weed in general I currently have a setup in my closed with proper lighting and tempature, my plant has started growing its 6th pair of leaves and I wanted to swap it to a different pot & change it to a soil. i am curious to know if it would be more beneficial to get a more organic soil to maintain the ph regularly and have more control of the plant or to get soil with nutrients to help me easily grow the plant.
what soil should I use to repot my plant, I don’t mind checking the plant regularly, if prefer a soil i can get at a local store.

Black gold is good I’ve heard. I use Fox Farms Ocean Forest and it’s ph buffered and I didn’t have to add nutes until week 2 of flowering. All it needs is water. Happy frog also works or a mix of the two plus some perlite.

do you highly suggest perlite? I’ve only heard good things but I heard you can also over do it and kill the plant. Thank you for your response aswell I appreciate it

Forget the organic approach you are thinking. Organic has nutes loaded into the soil so you only have to add water and beneficial teas. Its alot more complicated than using synthetic nutes.

Ocean Forest by fox farm is a hot organic soil.
Happy Frog by Fox farm is a light organic soil.

Hot means there are lots of available nutrients in the soil and can burn a young plant which isn't ready for such a high feeding. Lots of folks will mix the two to make it more stable for your plant.

Black Gold, or Pro Mix are basic soils with barely any nutrients available and are meant to be used with synthetic nutes to supplement feeding.

IMO if you were planning on using nutrients to feed then I would use a cheaper soil like black gold or pro mix and save some cash.

As your perlite question. It helps add drainage so your soil can dry out faster. Peat moss retains alot of water. Some folks grow in nothing but perlite and it's called hemp buckets. I usually add in an extra 15-20% of perlite of the total soil volume.

It’s currently in some seed starting soil by miracle grow It was just cheap at canadian tire I didn’t think these seeds would sprout the way they did and figured I’d give this whole thing a go and get educated haha, thank you for your response it really helped, would pro mix & 15-20% perlite throw my plant off at all it’s still very small, it’s about the size of the 3rd stage in this photo.

Any decent potting soil will work and personally perlite is a pointless product after years of using it. Soils are largely orgain by nature just be aware of how long they feed for and repot before or add nutes then.

Try and keep it as simple as possible, most soils should work if for indoor

No you will be fine. I literally just potted some clones doing this with pro mix and some more perlite.
Canadian tire sells pro mix so if that's your store you can get it there. I'm also in Canada so I'm familiar with what soils Canadian tire and home depot carry. You can get a bale for 30 bucks at either place or a big 42.5 L bag for like 15 bucks.

No, it's hard to see what size container that it's in but the plant is quite small still. Looks like only the 2nd set of leaves is there. It's young so just try and keep a decent temp and Rh and let it do its thing. Maybe in a week once it's gotten bigger and the container is drying out quicker then you could give it a bigger home.

sounds great, thank you. Would flora grow,flora micro and flora bloom be okay with the pro mix & perlite? What are some nutrients you suggest? Sorry about so many questions just want to prepare haha

Yes those three are fine to use. Its personal preference but it's good to use fewer bottles IMO if you have to.

Black gold is good but I have no experience with it.
I’m wondering though..
How is just adding water more complicated then all these different nutes?
Never had a problem with Fox farms being too hot, I’ve read a ton and the only people have this issue is crap water they’re using.
Definitely agree on mixing the two, I’m trying that very soon.
I add about 40% perlite into my mix to increase drainage. Has worked wonders and like I said I barely have had to add nutrients.

Also organic teas are super simple, your soil, some amendments and water and you’re set..
if he’s new to growing then all these nutrients make it more confusing. Not saying he will but I killed my first plant because of this.

Outdoors I went from cutting to finish in just straight ffof with tap water. Smokes great.

I would wait to do more involved grows until after you have at least one under your belt so you know how the plant works.

I also used the miracle grow seed starter mix when starting my seeds. I did lose one but I think that seed was just a dud or old. Transplanted the good one into my ffof with no issues and it took off.
