if you need "alot" of help I would put in "alot" of effort and give some details.

What is in your trays, are you using clay pellets rockwool, coco? It all makes a huge difference.

how old are the plants growing in them, young plants don't need a lot of water, old plants with good roots drink a lot.

Have you ever grow weed before?

If you're using hydroton, I fill mine every 2 hours for 20 minutes, clone to adult. I have a cyclestat timer to ensure no screw ups with those programables. I like the simplicity, and the accuracy. Unfortunatly, their like $90. But, I never worry about a timer going bad, which I've had many do.

You ever find a cheap alternative to the cyclestat 2? I guess I could reverse engineer mine, but it seems like too much effort for something that seems so simple. I did see the velleman mk111 but it doesn't have a long enough cycle time.

I've been sticking with ebb & flow for indoor the past few years.
I run SOG in 6" square pots filled with hydroton clay pellets.
I'd use an analog timer (not digital..) with 15 minute increments. should only cost like 10 to 15$ at a hydro shop or ebay.

Flood for about 15 minutes at a time (assuming your trays are overflowing by then.)
Every 2-3 hours while the lights are on and maybe once while the lights are off.
You can test different times and see which work better with your strain and in veg vs. in flowering.

Keep your reservoirs pH in check!!
Your plants should grow fine even if you don't adjust the pH, but if you stay on top of it, it'll make a difference.

Ebb and flow is pretty low maintenance once you get it set up.

Most on here will tell you I am crazy for telling you this, but I am growing in a 4x4 tent and have a 600 watter and it barley covers the whole area, I keep my light pretty close to the tops and had to buy the biggest hood on the market, XXL Magnum to even be happy with the light coverage. I have thought about putting in some florescent lights for side lighting, but then I would be at 1000 watts of light anyway.

So if you made it through that I am recommending a 1000 watts off the jump for a 4x4 grow space. Now this means more heat so you will need good ventilation at least. More money is what I am telling you, this choice will cost some money, but all for the best bud you have ever seen.....lol

I finally threw in the towel and hooked up a A/c unit to my tent and run it as a closed system, so as to not waste the Co2 I use also... good luck and ask away....JR

Tap water is probably the second worst choice you could make, right after starting bag seeds and then going on line to see "how to become a master grower for idiots" FYI....JR

i run a 4x4 tent as well and im running a 1000 watt, granted i have an extremely powerful exhaust fan to keep the heat down but it does exactly what u need for a 4x4 EBB n flow in a 4x4 tent

A lot of peeps here will say it's complete overkill, thanks for agreeing with me, i personally think that is all the area a 1000 watts should cover, peace JR

I found a good balance at 5 minutes every 4 hours while the light was on. I was using hydroton on a similar size table. Canna Aqua nutes and some h2o2 and you won't have much pH problems either.
