Need Help keeping plant small.

Hey RIU i have asked this question to other forums but they were all shit and gave me absolutely no answers.
and i have read post here and it looks like a really good place so here goes

I have a problem i have a really really small grow area i dont even know if it is possible to grow in there but it is all i have i have no where else to do it. so i need some help from you guys.
my grow box is 2 1/4' (70cm) tall and 2 1/4' (70cm) wide and 2' (60cm) in depth . that needs to fit my light and the pot. of 1-2 plants.
The strain of weed is called LSD its a indica dominant plant, so it will be smaller then some other sativa strains. But is there any way to keep it in the space and still get a bit a grade to smoke. i dont need it to be really great yield but just some to smoke, its more of a trial thing.
For instance, would putting it straight from seed into 12/12 flowering light work, also i know about LST FIM and topping and i will use them but can you use more then one on a single plant. eg FIM and then LST later or LST first then topping.
any help would be much appreciated.
cheers

Hmmm...well it is harder to grow in a tiny area...but if you get reg seeds you can start doing 12/12 from seed, that way you have small plants in small pots that don't get too terribly tall and yield around an oz a piece...there are more than a few people on here that can't get that much off of a much larger plant...I did my first 12/12 from clone and I am blown away by the results...I want to figure out a way to just keep the mom plants in veg and then 12/12 the clones...one clone a week...perhaps...anyway...any strain grown on 12/12 from seed will remain small and what not...so something to think about...

You can use any combination of plant training, just don't do too much at once. You can top and LST, no problem.

As for going straight into 12/12, I think most would recommend not topping in this case. You might get away with some light LST, but the plant might be too small to even bother with before it starts flowering. Most training should be done in veg so the stress will not effect bloom performance.

I think you can scrog anytime however, I'll let others weigh in on that one.

Sorry, not to hijack this thread but, your mailbox is always full so, I can never inquiry that way, lol.

But, missnu, what did you flower in? container size. Have you harvested yet, if so, what kinda weight you get?

Now, OP, that's a fairly small space. Does the 2.25' exclude or include space for your light? What kind of lighting are you gonna use? With that said, 12/12 from seed may be your best bet, with some good ol' LST or maybe a SCROG.

You can LST, Supercrop, Top, Fimm, all you want and at the same time, but it's unnessary. Pick one and roll with just that. In your case, I would LST that girl. Judging by your space, i'm thinking you would get the best control and yield from that.

Straight from seed to flower, huh? Never crossed my mind, but that sounds like a big waste of resources to me. Veg that girl for a couple of weeks if you really want to flower small. If time is not an issue, veg longer and LST. My .02

thanks for the help guys much appreciated.
yeah SOG or ScrOG sound like good ideas, i knnow the basics of it but this is my first grow.
for more info.
i'm using a 150 watt LED (i know LEDs have been given loads of shit but i think it will be fine and they are very efficient)
i dont have the light yet but its on its way so i dont know exactly how big it is, but i would think its around and inch or too thick.

one more quick question, is there a chart on the relationship between container size and size of plant?
or does anyone just know a general rule for it.
Cheers :)

Oh no...I didn't realize I had to empty it...that explains why I stopped getting messages...but anyway I have my test 12/12 clone in what I think is a gallon of half gallon round nursery pot..and I might take her down today or tomorrow...I will make sure to put up some pics before I take her down though...she looks awesome..super awesome...way better than a larger longer vegged specimen of the same strain...but with 12/12 you don't really want to top or anything unless it is super super early on...that way it is still pretty much in veg...even in 12/12 from the start the plant can't instantly start flowering...anyway I will empty my inbox and then start a thread that has some pics of my clone test...it was my coco test so I just used a tiny clone, but man oh man it looks great...

I usually get 3 oz off of plants that veg for 3 weeks and are in 3-5 gallon nursery pots...the pots I use with the 12/12 are maybe 5 or 6 inches in diameter and height...not sure if that is a half gallon or gallon...also you can put more roots in a smaller pot depending on your medium...also if you put a layer of perlite on the bottom of any pot then you can let the plant become more rootbound before you have to move it...I don't know why, but coco and perlite and other things that are very light and not compact are able to keep the roots growing even when they are out of room...I could never finish a soil plant in a 6 in pot...no freaking way...it would have already sprouted legs and ran away if I tried. I have had too many root stressed soil plants in 5 gallon pots towards the end of flowering...it is why I started using a good amount of perlite, hydroton, rocks, whatever...something that leaves large open but possibly moist space for the roots to work their way into then the plant can be in a smaller pot...I can only imagine that the roots on this girl will look like...I am so damn excited to take her down and trim off her 6 fan leaves...lol...it is the frostiest thickest single bud I have had the fortune to grow...Well off to take pics, clean my inbox, and start a thread.

I'm not positive, but I think you're supposed to keep LEDs like, idk, 6"-12" inches from the plant, plus a little room on top for ventilation. That cuts down significantly on your space. But I'm not positive if that's correct for LEDs or not.

Something you may wanna think over.

yeah i think i might have read that somewhere, but during veg you need to keep it 12" above plant but during flowering 6" is fine. yeah thats why i am worried that i dont really have enough space. but there is little risk of burning the plants because LEDs dont get as hot as CFLs or HIDs

2 . 25 ft tall? Wow thats alot of shit to try to put into something 2 foor tall, 2 foot wide box/ area. I.E. lights pot, plant, even with a one quart pot the light fixture will only allow for a plant about a foot tall? I've heard of growing in small spaces. But this will be interesting if it can be pulled off to any degree of suceess

yeah i know its seriously small but i have no other place to do it. its just for an experiment really.
on a different note what is a good refection system to have on the sides of grow boxes.
ideally some thing that one has lying at home or that is easily accessible.
cheers and i hope it is successful too. it would be nice to be smoking my own stuff.
