NEED HELP! Having issues power cooling fan for LED heatsink

I have purchased this heatsink and fan combo:

I am trying to power it with this AC to DC adapter:

I am using this 4 pin molex to 4 pin fan connector:

When I plug in the adapter the fan does nothing. I dont care about controlling speed I just want the fan to work. Am I missing something? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

From the description sounds like it's made to work with 4 pin fans...strange..

Might be the molex 4 pin and a pwm fan 4 pin are wired differently. Different outputs..

If you don't mind cutting wires the yellow on the pwm fan is 12v and the black is ground on the ones that are color coded. Connect that to red and black or equivalent on the dc supply. Don't connect the other two wires and make sure they are snipped with no wire exposed. The pwm fans could stop working if 12v is applied to the pwm input

Oops....just noticed you had the adapter too. It should work like that. I start cutting wires and trying different options at that point. But I've burned out a few fans doing that...caveat

Yup...remember seeing that picture. So if there's a red line on the pwm fan then you do standard red and black.

I have a corsair sp120 pwm fan that has no color coding. Just black wires...no instructions on outputs anywhere.

No wonder there's so much confusion online with people trying to get them working..

what you linked to is a 4 to 3 wire connector.

to troubleshoot, hook up temporarily without the connector using some jumper wires or alligator clips until you figure out what wires/pins are pos and neg power lines.

Looks like you've got all the help you need with the connections. After you get every thing running, you might want to look at reducing the fan speed to control noise. Here is the cheapest and best way I've found to power and control active cooling fans for HP LED chips, It's a DC to DC buck converter circuit board I found on ebay for 99 cents each. Just hook the input up to the output of your LED driver and the output (all clearly marked on the board) to your fan, You can control the output voltage with a trimmer potentiometer on the converter board. This circut can also be used with your 12vdc adaptor if you wish, but there are less wires and plugs if you use the LED driver output.

Here is an example of what I mean in use, note the small circuit board attached to the side of the cooling fan with leads from the driver and fan attached to each end

In case anybody noticed: I took care if the insulation problem on the black 12vdc fan wire with heat shrink tubing. The circuit board is glued to the side of the fan with epoxy cement.
