Need Help/advice ! Under watered or over watered???

Ok I did search a number of key words and after reading I'm still at a loss to know the answer.... Soil is lightly moist about 2 inches down, and dry on top. Things were doing great until yesterday the first plant started to droop heavy, then today the second started to droop too. These were just moved to the flower room/box last night, but the drooping started before the move.

They have not had a big drink (run out into tray) in a while, the media is MG potting mix and it seems to stay moist for a long time.

I misted them an hour go with distilled water, my supply of PH'ed tap water needs to sit and vent, I just filled them this morning.

Don't want to water if it's due to over watering, don't want to go all day with out a big drink if they need it, but not sure what to think.... Advice and help please!

If the soil isn't soaked, it's not from overwatering. Looks like they are severely thirsty, to me.

Thanks guys for the replies, I hit them with 3 quarts each and they are starting to perk up again, now just wondering if I need to give them a tad bit more? Might just wait 24hrs to see how much back to normal they are... Any advice would be quite welcome.

Thanks

You should water until about 10-20% of what you pour in comes out of the bottom. The reason is to wash away salts that used nutrients leave behind, and to ensure they are adequately watered. Allowing your plants to get to the stage you showed us today is not wise. It'll stunt growth and reduce harvest if you continue to moisture stress the plants.

Thanks for the info on the 10 to 20% run off.... I used 3 quarts this afternoon, some, not much came out the bottom. Sounds like I need to give them some more.... Thanks again everyone for the replies and info.

Thanks to those who replied to my questions... I watered these first with 3 quarts, then a few hours later gave another quart each. By morning time they have perked up a lot, it's clear there is some damage to the fan leaves, to the point a couple of the tips are dried and crumple to the touch.:wall: It's also clear the are signs of stress based on what I have read on here and photos of curling of leaves etc...

I've seen a number of other noobies posting with like minded questions and asking what to do:dunce:, some were talking cutting leaves.... Well water first and see what happens seems like good advice...

My question now is what to do with the clearly damaged fan leaves? leave alone or trim them back? (all other growth looks fine)
