This is my first DWC grow and I started the bloom stage today. I want to know what everyone thinks about how flushing works and when to start flushing.
I know that flushing the plants requires just using water in the buckets with no nutes. Also when will I know when to start.
I do know what milky trichomes gives a different feel than brown trichomes, in the end result.

Just start flushing about 12-15 days before you want to harvest. So you know about the coloring of the trichomes - so just go for it. If you want "up high" and harvest early i would start flushing when seeing the first amber trichomes. If you want more couchlock you want to see more amber color before flushing.

brimi, flush for 2 weeks? Is there really that much of a difference? I've heard of people that never flush and can't taste the difference after proper curing.

Test it take two the same ( clones ideal ) and flush one and not the other...see its like a science experiment once you do it and can duplicate it then you can change and alter dif aspects of growing.
Basically you are your best teacher! Going through the experience and learning on your own can be very gratifying! Good luck

Those people not flushing at all are really not good marijuana growers. Flushing the marijuana WILL make a GREAT difference to your end product. Flushing for a full 2 weeks makes sure the flush is properly done. People that want to test it and just flush for a couple of days won't feel a difference and quit doing it thinking it doesn't work. Flushing properly will change the character of the marijuana A LOT. Instead of small black pieces of coal after burning you will see pure light ash. When hitting a bowl in a bong you will see the marijuana nicely swell up whilst igniting. Smoke will be pure white instead of yellowish. Trust me - you want to flush if you are just a little into growing great marijuana. If you want to make a high quality that your friends will talk about too - flush flush and do it properly.

2 weeks to flush for soil shit that means I only have one week to give nutes to my girl, indica strain.5 week into flower. Just flushed out with water, so I will only get to feed nutes one more time? take about 5 days per watering...do the buds get bigger during flushing or what?

Nothing but Ph adjusted water...that is it? So if I only get one more feed/nutes. hhhm mmm. 1 week ripen dose. then 2 weeks flush. getting close to finish wow...can hardly wait to smoke it!

Flushing is important. Have you ever had a joint that just wouldnt stay lit no matter what you do? Thats because the wasnt flushed properly. Also, not flushing is the reason people nearly cough a lung out when smoking.
You say three weeks to finish, but if your plants are already ready for harvest and you havent flushed, you might as well forget it. Dont let your plants over ripen, THC will drop. Also, leave your plants in uninterrupted darkness for the last 48 hours before harvest day. You can coax a little more potency out of your buds that way.
some ppl stop watering their plants two days before harvest too but idk about that.

Beansly how would the thc drop? Once the plant makes it how would it take it back?
i think it doesnt take it away, but it degrades overall. that is what the trichs are doing is growing and dieing, like when a flower blooms then wilts, just a little longer process.

Yeah man,if you keep your plant going too long (in flower, You can keep a flower in veg indefinitely) it'll start to decompose and the THC degrades over time.
