these three plants are about two weeks old from germ to this stage. they are in some jiffy cups with MG organic and some perlite. I haven't been giving them any nutrients yet. I just want to know how they look and when you think I should transplant them. I know usually you transplant after two weeks but I want to make sure the roots are established before I put them in a more permanent place. Here are the pics, let me know what you think.

they look good and green but a bit streched for light. Im asuming your going to carry on Outdoors like my self so try to find some where thats a little more direct in the sun at least for the next week or 10 days. when you transplant you can set them down a bit below the first set of Rounded leaves. Dont put any nutes on them till the Rounded leaves start to yellow and die off. thats just my rule of thumb. Happy green growing and good luck.

yeah I agree and all you gotta do is put the whole peat cup in the dirt anyways so not like you will be doing anything really by waiting. Also in a bigger pot or in the ground should help it from drying out too.

I can def put them in a place with more light for a week. I think I will give them another week before transplanting them. If I bury them in the ground in the pots will the plant get stunted or will the roots break through?

they look nice i cant wait to see them when there bigger the roots should be fine you should transplant in like another week or 2

Those jiffy cups are nice, the roots will gladly grow right through them provided you stick em in the ground. Be careful to watch the moisture level since those cups love to dry out especially with all that perlite. The seedlings look healthy and a little stretch usually happens so no worries. Good luck.

Thanks for all the help. It's my first time so even though I've read alot, there's tons of questions. Thanks alot

what kind of light are they with right now is it outside? they look pretty small for two weeks have u been watering them enough. i know someone who has plants a week old and they are all bigger than that. also how is the weather if they are outside that could have an effect. anytime after two weeks should be a good time to transfer though because they have most likely started veg

Well right now they are in direct sunlight for about 10 hours a day, before they were in a shady spot. I have been watering almost every other day. The weather during the day is about 80 degrees. It hasn't rained for a couple days so I watered them again today. As for your friends plants, I don't know, I'm not giving them nutes yet so maybe that has something to do with it.

I transplanted one of them yesterday into the ground without the peat cup. I left the other two in the cups for another couple weeks. When I took the one out of the peat cup, I didn't see any roots on the edges of the soil. So def not root bound. I will post more pics of them this coming week. Stay tuned.

They look healthy, just a bit stretched. They will really take off if you take care of them though.

I will, (stay tuned) lol, I really doubt its cuz you havent given them any nutes yet, they are still way too small imo for any feeding yet. plus it looks like your soil has alot of them white little ferilizer crystal/rock/whatever things in it.......

Well since MG was the only thing I could get my hands on I had to cut it with perlite. From reading on here that's what most people recommend. They may be smaller because of the poor quality of the soil, but as long as they're healthy, then that works. I'm growing for personal use so I don't need a ridiculous yield.

I would have cut the soil with Pete Moss brings the Ph down (which by the way is important) try it next time. Use the Perlite fine as a over water protection especially in pots. yet the Pete Pots are not really pots per say--- save some money on the soil buy reg garden soil and amend with moss and perlite. Back to what to do, when making the decision to plant think about minimum 10 hours direct light. Pick your spot usally facing North in north america cut the bottom of the pete pot off and when placing into the hole that is twice as big as the pot and propegated with some manure/compost .99 cents a foot along with pete moss for about 8 bucks for 2 feet and sand and or perlite or some volcanic rock is nice too if you got money to waste. When water goes across volcanic rock it creates C02 interstingly enough B.T.W------ Not that c02 is going to help the roots haha! Food and nutes are dangerous I only feed after she is wll established. keep an eye on that Ph and start with a cut version of Fish emulsion for first bit of nutes. The soil has plenty of food for at least a month or two for those plants. When watering water good see 10% run out the bottom. Watch Ph keep at 6-6.5 max or they will go gay. or just straight manly on you.
Ph is = to .001 of the scale so 7-6 = 100 times which ever way acid or alkiline.
Ph can be achieved with the pete moss I shared with you. Too much attention will kill your plants~

These are pics from today of the three plants I have outside. The first two pics are the ones still in the peat cups. They seem to be doing better than the third one but maybe I'm wrong. They were bone dry today so I soaked them really good until the water come out the bottom. The third picture is the one I transplanted to the ground. I dug a 2x2 hole and filled it with organic soil, then put a little bit of the native dirt on top. It's got more leaves than the other two, but the other two are much bigger. Let me know what you think.
