I'm a little less cynical--maybe no one else is from NC? Can't fault them for that...Seems unlikely though.

Maybe they sent emails and didn't post in the thread? Again, unlikely...

Well, thanks for standing up babs and Big P!

As Rage Against the Machine would say, It has to start somewhere, it has to start sometime. What better place than here, what better time than now?

I sent them a letter.

I hope this shit passes, bout time NC did something right for a change. I know a lot of people around here would benefit greatly from this. Come on people, LET YOUR "representative" know what you think.

Thanks for your support Kayabear!

Means nothing to me until we get Medical in New York.
Well you should contact your local New York representative then and get the ball rolling.

And maybe helping out North Carolina's cause will help your own

***Ok babs, your earlier cynicism was justified...

Does anyone know the status on this bill...? Wheter or not it has already been voted on...
Yes, according to the NC General Assembly website, the bill was filed on 9 April and passed its first reading on 13 April. It has been passed on to the Commission on Health, where if found "favorable" will be passed to the Judiciary II, and if "favorable" again will be go to Finance.

You figure by the time it gets to finance, things are looking promising! As for now, there have been no updates since the 13th. Keep checking back though!

Also, House Bill 1384 is similar to 1380...I can't quite tell what the difference is, though I think NORML's website had something about it.

bumping for the cause

Sorry Jerry, it's my tendency to be cynical when I duly note laziness. or "other" things for that matter. Tis my nature to naturally pick up on the obvious! What are the first three words of the CONSTITUTION? "We the people".........and "we the people" have just become so entirely submissive, fearful.
A SINCERE TY back for not being a coward.
All the "maybes" are what HOLDS US BACK.

Here here. When was the last time people in the United States stood up for anything? We're bitches compared to other countries, who will take to the streets in protest at the drop of a hat!

Update:

The NC house and senate both meet monday, 4/20/09 @ 7pm. The next stage of the bill (I think) is the Commission on Health, which convenes Tuesday 4/21 @ 12pm.

However, the calendar doesn't list the Medical Marijuana Act on the docket for this coming session. So maybe next week. After it passes the Health commission it will move to Judiciary II, which appears to meet tuesday and wednesday. Then on to finance.

So as of now, the bill isn't doing anything. It's in the process of being referred to com on health.

Still plenty of time to contact your representatives!
